I’m not paying this dumbass tax
As a person who had to find a work around for the visa debit option. I wish the voices of the community could be heard. This ask is WAY to big for neglecting the other problems the mog station is currently facing I'm all for developers getting paid, but Arkansas sales tax is very high. Now they want me to pay more for a game it was exceedingly difficult to pay for already. I fully understand no one is asking me to play or pay it's just frustrating that these kind of things slide. Honestly been having really big gripes with the gaming industry and this is another step in the direction of Sony and helldivers or even Microsoft and halo (or anything they have ever touched ie. blizzard products as of late). Mr. happy you and other content creators you can reach out to are unfortunately our only way of having these concerns voiced. Unless convinced most of them do not share the same concern and care you do seems kinda hopeless imo.
looking good Mr.happy
and then there are those people who's country did not exist in SQEX registration form when they created the account and were instructed by support to just put in a random US state.
Add that to the fact that you cannot change your address 😉
(and good luck finding the support e-mail from way back when. My case around 10y ago?!)
I'm losing my patience with this garbage company. What should my wife do who owns and plays on a US account, but now lives and plays from Europe?
Nice, thanks for the heads up! Glad I’m in a state that’s tax exempt, but good to know!
hah! now its your turn! 😀
Was gonna say, as a steam user wasn't it always taxed? Wasn't aware the main site was tax free til this video.
I'm a player from a US territory island…had to sign up to a state since the island wasn't registered as a location. So far no tax included. Hopefully it's not raised to the point I have to unsub 😢
The IRS knocked on Yoshi-P's door…
Anyone else in Utah that was already paying sales tax for years on our subs? My wife and I have been, even as far back when we were playing FFXI, so I was confused on why this was news. Even on the Mog Station or the Online Store.
This game is money grab .. and they can't even take the time the voice all the character interactions in the game. Other games do it and they only charge a one-time purchase fee… This game's complete rip off
I think their service provider was registered somewhere overseas, so there was no sales tax. But when that VISA issue happened, they had to relocate their "branch" inside the US. Therefore, now they have to comply with US laws.
No more patience with anyone who tries to rationalise or even justify all these issues. Also,if you dont have issues, shut up about it. Nothin worse than being lost, starving,in the middle of nowhere and having someone say:"i had a bunch of granola bars and ate em all." Shut the eff up. What ails me is that after 10 years of spending thousands of dollars, making friends i can legit call family… now its like i'm forced to say goodbye. I am no stanger to Loss. My sister passed in december and my cat died last sunday. But to have my hand forced to say goodbye to MY game,MY world,MY friends..? Who is it i have to fight? SE? VISA/MASTERCARD? MY GOVERNMENT? Aint it hilarious that all the problems happening corelate with FFXIV implementing Xbox (Microsoft btw) support? Can anyone look into the Microsoft/Blizzard iceberg and tell me its not stinkin of fishy? From a personal level,i'm taking all this devastatingly for reasons mentionned. On a corporate level, this has all the makings of hostile takeover… with hints of "you will own nothing and be happy." I'm not "happy". Alot of us arent "happy" right now. Alot feel attacked.
California law doesn't have digital goods tax like Texas and a few other states
Does this mean they are going to fix their atrocious payment system which seems to only work appropriately 30% of the time?
Also this legally shouldnt make any difference if people are doing taxes appropriately, since you are supposed to pay "use tax" for anything you dont pay sales tax for
Haven’t been to this channel in awhile? That really Mrhappy?
Mr Happy idk if you know but you don't actually have to transform yourself into Daddylander in order to play Final Fantasy XIV Online: Dawntrail
I got used to moving beetween California and Sweden and paying a bit more with my California card….
you should talk about the fact that alot of people cant get a sub right now no matter what they do
phew i live in canada and im on steam so im good 🙂
It absolutely blows my mind that we have to have theorycraft discussions on HOW TO PAY FOR THE GAME.
I mean its not gonna change much, but my Visa still wont work and I also live in Florida > : /
Inexcusable is the fact you CANNOT change your Country in the change of address form. Instead of them focusing on this issue their answer is to just create a new account. For me I would give up thousands of hours of playtime if I did that. Shame on you SE for ignoring glaring issues. Almost makes me want to just abandon the game altogether. I refuse to buy ANYTHING from the cash shop for sure as long as this issue exists. Also the Visa issue should have been reolved already. Whatever is the problem may be it proves SE doesn't have what it takes to keep going in the future. My hype this game dwindles more and more especially with some connection issues they've had over the years and these dDos attacks.
thank god for california
Thank you very much for bringing up the payment processor issue and region locking, even if this post was not about that… People have been trying to use customer service, trying to use the forums, even during the live letter I saw people trying to bring this up to the devs attention. The big content creators also bringing it up can only help bring this more into the light.
Admittedly I don't really know how much this is honestly in the developers' hands, how much control over this Yoshi-P really has and how much this is due to higher ups in Square Enix.
Since we didn't accepted tu have the NFT s they are doing that they had to grab money some how !
Subscription doesn’t seem like a taxable item – digital items and services in general are not taxable there’s no physical item to apply tax to. This is like beyond weird. Maybe I’m just sensitive to this because of the state I work in and being intimate with our own tax laws from my job – weird to see on a Google that many other states actually do tax services and digitals
I had to watch your video because I too live in California and was wondering if this would affect me. Thank you!!🙏
I'm going to Japan from France for a year in summer, since I'll keep my french bank account and mastercard, I'll have 0 issue with this, but I'll transfer my character to jp datacenter ofc. It's so silly to think I'll live and play in Japan for a year but still have a registered adress in France. I guess I'll be living in my parent's house for a year according to SE.
I just realized he shaved. Looking good.
Steam gamers just can't stop winning 😂
NY is exempt if someone wanted to know
australians have to renew in euro and pay the conversion rate…
Damn, if the tax is nasty then I might as well quit FF14 all together 😢
Luckily, Florida doesn't have this tax.
FFXIV recruitment Code: UAREAZ9P
Ya I've only paid using Steam and pretty sure all purchases through Steam have had tax for years now.
Wrong, saturn was def trying to kill robin but the strawhats stalled him long enough that he had to give up on it
