Honest question: Have you played WoW or FFXIV recently?
Also note: By "dethroned," I mean in terms of total active players over a month period. SWC averaged over 5 million active players in its first month, more than TRIPLE FFXIV and more than WoW's current active subscribers. I do not mean this game is BETTER than either WoW or FFXIV. On the contrary, this game is actually horrible compared to either.

Eh, nothing much to a gacha game. Especially if it doesn't have a good reroll option. Plenty of them require you to RE-DOWNLOAD the game or use salting (aka counted as separate accounts) which boosts the total. Not to mention the amount of bot accounts in the early week to try and roll good accounts to sell. All of this is common in gacha games. So, claiming it has dethroned FFXIV, which is a B2P+ monthly subscription game, is very disingenuous.
We all already know how this will go. It'll hold 'some' popularity for the first couple of weeks and then it will die down to a niche community with the majority being players who spent and just can't let go. Very common in the Gacha space.
Basically, take their 'x donwloads' or 'x active players' with a MASSIVE grain of salt. It's inflated by the nature of what those types of games are and the people who play them.

FFXIV has been my number one game for a number of years now; and is one the game I play when IRL time constraints allow for, so my sub is always active. However, I am excited to see new entries into the MMO genre in hopes that competition will create ingenuity.
Wait till it goes or gets into p2w pay for support items.

Easy to do with the phone as a platform
put better grafic on it and with that Ui its like most new "mmo" games. hate it so much. all games like gacha game. Ui packed with buttons for useless stuff (events,gacha etc), only 4-5 skills, auto leveling, itemscore and some other stuff in most games. only change settings of game and grafics. WoW, ff14, eso are good normal mmo´s for me that are still running. miss the days with tons of good mmo game. Kal, mu, Jade dynasty, flyff, ragnarok, early wow etc was the best time. Also like RS but its honestly a bit too much for me as a perfectionist with so many skills to level^^
So this a new MMO, will those numbers remain after a while, also why have I not heard of this game until now?

its a mobile game so not even in the same league as WoW and FFXIV since they are not on mobilephones, mobilephone games have a much larger player base to grab from.

Character "creator" is "Only boys can be warriors, Girls are mages and small girls are healers" so I uninstalled.
It feels like such a stretch to compare this to any legacy MMO when this is a gacha game where you see other players around. I couldn't care less about how deep the roster building gets when they won't even let me hold a sword and be a girl from moment one.

It got the help because it’s based off a mobile game that has been out for like eight years or so
of course game that is 100% free to play with decent gameplay, networking, and avilable on mobile as well would have more players then games that requier stationary gaming device.
