This fight was SO COOL! FFXIV Stormblood Playthrough Part 5

We made it to the Ruby Sea and came up with a plan to take back Isari, with help from the Kojin and Confederates. Now we fight the primal Susano in The Pool of Tribute, to hopefully liberate the villagers from Yotsuyu and the Empire. Hope you enjoy!

  1. about the 3 treasures
they are inspired by Three Sacred Treasures, the imperial regalia of Japan
they are Yata no Kagami (8 ata (about 24 cm length unit) mirror), Kusanagi no Tsurugi (Grass cutting sword), originally known as Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi (Heavenly Sword of Gathering Clouds), and Yasakani no Magatama (large jewel bead)

Sasano is inspired by Japanese god of sea and storm Susano-o, and his sword is the aforementioned Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, which he got from slaying the 8 headed, 8 tailed giant snake Yamata no Orochi

  2. Garuda had voiced lines in base ARR.

I love Susano. He's just a big goof that wants to goof around and have fun. The EX is also alot of fun. The stone move kills the party member trapped in it if you don't destroy it fast enough. One detail alot of folk miss is that after the DPS check, Susano switches from his treasure sword to the big one for the rest of the fight.

  3. By the time I made it to Susano, I was already impressed by many trials. Shiva, Ravana, Nidhogg, Thordan. All amazing.
But everything about Susano it's amazing. The Catching music, the well designed mechanics, that badass sword moment. It's still one of my favorite trials. Specially as a tank. Stopping that sword as a lalafell makes me feel powerful 😀

  4. The Uwu hammer guy probably asked for Yotsuyu to step on him the same way she stepped on Gosetsu.
From her perspective it is humiliation and torture.
But to many, it would be a good reward.

  5. "Invisible light under which the stones sparkle" or whatever. This is an ultraviolet light and the stones flouresce. I like thinking about things like this because it takes some of the hand-wavey magic out of small world details and grounds it, making it feel more real to me, while still leaving the big stuff as wonder-inspiring magic.

  6. All I will say is that Yotsuyu has her reasons for hating Doma… and they are tragic. A lot of people bitch and moan about the Ruby Sea portion of this expansion, but for me it’s probably one of my favorite moments. For me, the boring ass section was in the level 65-66~ area… which is just a huge open field that you need to run across. Repeatedly. (Name omitted intentionally). It was gorgeous at first… until I had to run back and forth across it a dozen times and then I was just… so over it lol Yanxia is another really good section of the story too. It’s probably my absolute favorite portion and the part I think about the most. Yanxia is a multi-sectional zone that you will revisit much later.

  7. 28:02 — Shiva was voiced when Ysaele summoned her to fight Ravana… and Ravana was voiced, too… And I think, Ramuh was voiced… and Garuda… Aaaaaaaand… eeeeh… Sophia… and Zurvan… I mean, "voiced", the later two had a few voice lines during the fights…

44:17 — Red Mage 🙂 We have gap-closers, round-out kicks and backflips – and they all hurt ^.^

50:30 — Well, you're the one who going into an open battle field, challenging the Empire head on. Now, who's in greater danger here? XD

  8. 7:05 He straight up called her a prostitute there.

10:00 Remember before he turned himself in he said he was well accustomed to chains?

    16:55 Smug gamer face.

23:50 Laughed evilly in real life at this part. You're going to love it.

1:00:00 An interesting thing they started doing in Stormblood is when you visit a zone for the first time you often don't get to explore the entire thing. For instance the south half of the Peaks and the southeast part of the Fringes are inaccessible at first.

  9. Red Mage is a lot of fun – high movement casting with gap closing, melee combos, acrobatics AND a spare rez for your party. My favorite caster job in the game. Polar opposite of BLM.

  10. Im glad they didnt pitch his voice, with a higher pitch he just sounds like one of the murderous moppets from Venture Bros. and thats too cool an upgrade for the likes of Grynewaht.

  11. fun fact: Urianger's ENG (Timothy Watson) actor voices the first trial boss of Stormblood, and Y'shtola's ENG actress (Robyn Addison) voices the first trial boss in shadowbringers.
