Getting into raiding in FFXIV can be a challenge for new players, as the game does a poor job getting them used to the new level of optimization required. This video is supposed to help you get started with a few tips regarding things that I wish I knew when I was starting myself!

thank you, im new to raiding and will keep these in mind
Omg your bun is back!!!! Yeah
So this is my first Raid (as well as an MMO I take seriously to get to end game) and I've played maybe 7 months as Dancer.
Only to learn that I've been playing wrong this whole time. In my mind, I mistook Standard Step as something I should stretch out instead of immediately casting. Raiding has taught me how to play my class to it's full potential and I love it. Because there's little moments like Tech Step/Standard Step do Not give a big enough window for double weaving. Which I used to spam my double weave, not realizing it clips my rotation.
We're stuck on P3S, but it's been fun. We've had some bumps as a static but overall has been a fun experience. Sometimes I feel DPS envy but I'm a Dancer, I also provide buffs and a solid 5% damage to my Melee DPS.
It's quite a journey, one I never thought I'd do
especially the first point is crucial: do not let yourself get trapped in parties you dont feel good with. yeah, you dont want to be the dick to leave immediately after a few wipes but there is a difference of doing mistakes and not understanding the mechanics. as you said in the video, understand if a party is respecting your time or not. else you might end up sitting there for 4 hours trying to prog or even clear without any progress at all in the end, which is just frustrating and can lead to you not enjoying the game as you should anymore or even get burnt out slowly
I think a lot of players could stand to benefit from watching this video, new and old. The part about GCD clipping and playing around raid buffs is huge and can be a major difference between high DPS to low DPS, even if you know your job well, uptime and recognising raid buffs is key!
I don't know how you kept this video so short yet so detailed but its amazing and this is the kind of content that I love, even if I know this stuff, it makes me glad to see this form of content get the recognition it deserves 😀
i agree with 2nd point.. before people start raiding, learn ur job well, i've lost count of people not knowing rotation or how certain skill works in raids… muscle memory ur rotation and understand ur role well.. if u know how other job's utilities work that's even better.. u dont want to bene a dark using LD before tank buster's 2nd hit, or dnc not knowing tech finish is party buff and used it prepull.. like come on it's high end duty, not a place to learn ur job… if someone not performing rotation well and lacking 1k dps who's gonna fulfill his lack of dmg..? they're just wasting other people's time..
