THEY ARE BANNING FFXIV PLAYERS! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

That article we read yesterday was not a warning, the bans were already starting. This is why we can’t have nice things. Just in case it wasn’t clear, it is time to stop.

Whats up guy’s it’s yo boi

God am I really going to start saying that

Remember how I began the series of this is why we can’t have nice things? We’re now approaching the punchline of this is why we can’t have nice things. Yeah square enix is actually banning streamers now and that this is far from just an impotent statement, heads are now rolling. A once laissez faire approach is clearly starting to spin out.

This has serious implications going forward not just for streamers but for the community at large which could very easily include anti cheat like easy anticheat, commonly abbreviated EAC, which to say the least is a massive huge shift in the final fantasy 14 ecosystem. And to be clear EAC is used in Apex Legends which is extremely popular in Japan.

Also there have been arrests made for cheating in video games in Japan as well as game moding is illegal in Japan and punishable by prison and fines.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Now let’s get into it.

Yesterday I did a video about Yoshi P essentially saying stop this madness with third party tools, defining third party tools, hacks, mods, user interface enhancements, talking about high end duties and the dragonsong’s reprise ultimate world first race, datamining and more. My real question is why was pvp not mentioned in this where these pvp cheaters are actually interfering with my gameplay personally ruining my experience? Anyhow dropping that pvp topic for a different video. I’m not going to rehash the entire article but the large underpinning is basically calm down the madness.

Which makes perfect sense, the world first race got a ton of eyes on final fantasy 14’s endgame scene. Shadowbringers brought the mass world of warcraft player exodus to final fantasy 14 and then endwalker hit which was an absolutely roaring success.

So this being the first piece of ultimate raid content released in quite literally 2.5 years since the epic of alexander,l this combined together to be a far bigger event than honestly even most of my friends who were streaming it expected.

Problem alert, red hot problem alert! People were using obvious third party tools and many of them had them overtly put some of these tools front and center on their screen.

Now people want to pin this or that or whatever else on why this is happening. But one proposed reason is that, shockingly world first race for ultimate had drama. Somehow literally years later no the community has not gotten any less obsessively petty about being the first people to clear a fight in a video game. Chill there is not.

This has been theorized to have had the world first clears obtained due to third party tools. Now to add the disclaimer again, I personally don’t care at all and I’m genuinely so busy with my own life and stuff I don’t care. Fly a pig to the moon for all I care. But the problem is other people care a lot and are absolutely horrifically upset about it.

But cycle back to what I said before, this is very different than the epic of alexander because the sheer scale of people has completely changed. I remember like a year and a half ago people were talking about me being a shining rising star in our community and now I’m a busted up up hack Mr. Happy Wannabe that apparently no one wants to collab with because gay. Alongside other joyful stuff that made me have a breakdown during work yesterday. Oh how the turntables.

Point being? The community has definitely changed and so the ramifications of this have and will change.

Surely it would be absolutely shocking if Sony executives heard about this. You know playstation and Sony that have basically been controversially sold out of PS5 for eons and undeniably have a lot of money.

  1. They really don’t wanna do anti cheat, because it has security risks.

Also discrimination against console players absolutely exists in the high end raid community. I have a pretty extensive raid resume, but only just got a gaming pc last year. I applied to join a hardcore static at the end of stormblood going into shadowbringers. They said they would love to have me but could not simply because i played on console.

  2. The most I use is ACT, no triggers – I do have an overlay for stream.. but that's it. I've never been curious to use other various forms of mods.. mostly because I'm afraid of breaking stuff lol

  3. I remember hearing a while back the devs had a general unspoken opinion on mods. That being don't use mods it's against our TOS *wink wink*. But to hear how players are just running them out in the open without a care in the world…. crazy

  4. I didn't know about the discrimination against console players. I haven't entirely dove into the raiding scene just yet, mostly just filling in for missing members in my FC's static, but two of them are console. From what I've played with them, I couldn't really tell much of a difference other than them complaining about certain shenanigans with their internet.

  5. Problem is not using ACT to measure their own skill.

The problem is that many people also use programs for less innocent reasons.

Regardless how you feel about ACT it does not change the fact it by itself is creating a more "Toxic" enviroment.

If you want to get rid of Bots, Hackers and Toxic people — there is no other way than to completely remove program all together.

  6. People being salty about something only the 1% of the 1% even really care about lol. Yes, this is why we can't have nice things. I'm glad the world first race is over. Ultimate raiding is not an esport.

  8. I mean, Yoshi P LITERALLY SAID HE WOULD.

It's not like this should be a surprise. This has been in the TOS for a decade. People have been flouting it and prancing around like they were invincible. I'm not sure why people had that belief, but once the GAME PRODUCER HIMSELF and one of the top people in all of Square-Enix posts a public letter saying "Don't do it", anyone still trying to push it have ZERO excuses as far as I'm concerned.

  9. It doesn't take rocket appliances to figure it out. 3rd party app (cacbot & suchlike) = cheating. Cheat = get suspended/banned. SImple enough. If anything, it's the people that (eventually) win without cheating that get robbed. Since the perception of cheating devalues the win in the eyes of the community. I don't really "care" if someone wants to lessen their own accomplishment with add-ons. Just don't expect me to be impressed by the shiny new weapons & titles.

  10. Also, sorry to hear about your situation yesterday. Me personally, I'm neither pro-nor-con alternate lifestyles. I'm just pro-Human. There was a movie – I don't remember the name – but this guy from the 50s was in a bomb bunker with his parents from the cold war and comes up in the 90s and meets (I believe) a female stripper and a gay dude. Needless to say, shenanigans ensue, but he was a perfect gentleman to both. I remember one scene the gay guy is talking to the girl and says something like "You know what he told me? He told me that the definition of a gentleman is one who shows respect to everyone regardless of person", or something like that.

For some reason, I still remember that, even remembering literally nothing else about the movie. Treat everyone with respect and no one can credibly accuse you of being -phobic or…well…a jerk. 🙂

I hope things go better for you, and I love your videos and personality. Hope everything goes great with your wedding, too. 😀

  11. I think that part of the issue is that the culture around nodding and add-ons and stuff was completely different in WoW. People could do whatever they wanted when it came to displaying a dps/heal meter, reskinning or completely redesigning their UI, etc.

The expectation of being able to use those things carried over during the exodus to FF. Even if they've had policy against third party add-ons for 10 years, they haven't actually enforced that policy until now.

Unless they actually add some of the features I use from Dalamud for the UI, I won't stop using it anytime soon but I'm also not a streamer.
