These Final Fantasy XIV Deaths Are Killing Me…

As we gain a foothold in Azys Lla in Final Fantasy XIV, sacrifices are made along the way. And those sacrifices are breaking me.

  1. What's to come? In Illidan's words: "YOU. ARE NOT. PREPARED!!!"
And if anyone thinks that Ysayle didn't actually achieve anything with her sacrifice, she managed to seal a Dreadnought's engines in what is essentially permafrost. That thing is unusable for pretty much forever. And it is a Dreadnought, the same as the Agrius that had to be brought down by the king of dragons, who died as well.

  2. That little smile when she knows no matter what else happens she's done what she came to do, your ship is away and safe..

also, no you don't hate the game, its a complicated emotion, but its not hate.

  3. The emotional impact of the game only gets stronger. I would rate the emotional impact of each chapter on a scale of 1 to 10. (emotional impacts are frequent and not limited to deaths of characters.) A realm Reborn is a 6 on the scale. Heavensward – 7, Stormblood – 8, and Shadowbringers is a 9. I can only imagine what Endwalker will score 🙂 My only advice is to "Get ready!"

  4. Gurren Lagann is a classic. I never pass up an opportunity to reference the drill.

Great reaction though! It's always fun to see someone sincerely experiencing something we also enjoy.

  5. Those piano notes in Shiva's theme get me every time. It's such a magnificent piece of music that augments a scene of noble sacrifice. And note Estinien's short little farewell. He's holding it in.

  6. I've cried so much in this game over the last decade… in cutscenes, and in the middle of a trial (Jesus, I froze when I realized what was happening)… there is a specific instance I was literally ugly crying and yelling at someone "Why are you doing this to me?" for maybe like 15 minutes. I'm not even sure other people had the same reaction I did, but it destroyed me. This game is not afraid to make you cry like you just lost a puppy.
