  1. If you like FF9, how about the two Crystalline Conflict themes? "Festival of the Hunt" and "Run!"
Crystalline Conflict is a PvP mode, so those videos can't spoil you. Don't worry you won't have to do it if PvP's not your thing, but it's a fun mode and realizing where the music came from was a treat.

There's music from other FF games all over the place though, they do a great job creating new versions.

  2. can barely hear the music in the vid unfortunately
also, Anima and Alexander are both in this game, but as bossfights, not as player-useable summons
one class, Summoner, gets access to a handful of summons as spells, namely Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Bahamuth and Phoenix, but they are much smaller scale for clarity's sake

  3. Don't know who recommended these tracks to you but there are definitely more iconic tracks in FFXIV you should listen to that really show the breadth and depth of the music in this game. This game has the World Record for the most number of unique musical tracks in any one video game. Tracks like Metal: Brute Justice Mode, Weight of the World (Prelude Version), Dragonsong, Wayward Daughter, Scream, What Angel Makes Me, In the Balance, the Ruby Weapon theme, etc. being some of the more iconic ones that you could listen to. Also, if you're curious why the OST uploaded on YT are recorded in combat, its because its against ToS to upload FFXIV's music without gameplay and SE is trigger ready to take videos down.

  4. FFXIV has official starter guide videos for new players that are pretty good. Starting a new MMO can be overwhelming and it helps explain the basics you need going in.

  5. One way to look at ffxiv is like a big homage to all the other final fantasy games because it picks different elements from them and incorporates them into the story or raids but in a way that still makes sense to the lore of the world itself. That is why we have Alexander as a Raidfight.
Edit: Also just in case you needed any more glowing reviews, the creator of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi is playing the game and loved the story himself, so I don't think there is any higher endorsement to be had 😀

  6. your reaction to vamo alla flamenco of recognizing it on the first note had me ROLLING :D. also yes, insatiable plays during dungeon bosses throughout the entirety of shadowbringers. for me, it holds the record for one of the best boss themes in the game. it makes my entire guild go bonkers whenever it comes on in something or when some of us are hanging out irl and someone plays it LOL .

as other people have said, most of the summons appear, but only some of them are available to summoner players as a "summon". that said, summoner is a really fun class to play- i do recommend it. last night my guild and i tried to do a fight with five summoners, one reaper and one bard. the bahamuts…they were everywhere. since you said you want to play gunbreaker and you can't unlock that until level 60, arcanist/summoner might be a good in betweener choice until you get there if you like summons! gunbreaker is a tank and i learned it from the ground up. the dps with a gun is machinist! you can unlock them starting at level 50 🙂

the video for insatiable is with NPCS, as the game has begun instituting a system where you can clear dungeons with NPCs at your own pace, but you can choose to go in with NPCs or other players.

anima is a new addition to the game since it appears in endwalker, so it's only been here for about a year, don't feel too bad about not having heard of it sooner!

don't worry- by the time you get to something like alexander prime you're at least level 60/90 so you'll have a lot more game experience than you do just watching it, hehe. i can't believe this comment got longer than the ones i've left on your arknights videos. god. anyway, this game is really fun, i hope you enjoy playing it.

  8. Just from listening to you talk about your previous experiences with the series, you would really enjoy XIV. It's somehow simultaneously it's own thing and straight fanservice. Also, I was trying to find a way to hint at Anima without giving it away, and then you saw the thumbnail LOL.

  9. I would describe FFXIV's battle system as a coordinated dance. The boss has their steps, and you have to adjust your movements to get the best performance out of your given job and follow the boss' dance. How strict that is depends on the fight's difficulty. The second video was a dungeon boss, which it's the easiest kind of boss, for example. That means the steps are usually quite forgiving, they aren't very complex and you have to commit either very big mistakes or repeated ones to die.

As for player number, there are solo content (which you will do alone), 4-players content (Dungeons), 8-players content (Trials and Normal Raids) and 24-players content (Alliance Raids). The most difficult content, with some exceptions, is 8-players content. This is the number they consider is realistic for a group of potential strangers to fully coordinate without placing way too much responsibility on one single player.

  10. There is summoner as a job, it gets 6 summons, Carbuncle, Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Bahamut, and Phoenix, though until you hit basically max level you are summoning little itty bitty versions of them sadly. It also is the only class that shares a level with another class, for silly reasons, that being scholar who summon fairies.

that said the Eicons, Eidolons, Espers, or as FFXIV calls them Primals get FAR more representation, and without out spoiling anything NOTHING is off limits. If it's been a summon there's a good chance it gets at least referenced. The rule of thumb for them is that they are "trials" 8 player boss fights.

  11. Well to not spoil much on Alexander, Rise isn't really Alexanders theme, its his second phase music but not really his song.
Something closer to what would be Alexanders theme would be his phase 1 and the orchestrated version which plays in the hardest version of his fight.
