Hi! Striking healer here. Some quick points:
No one is mad at Xeno. He did his job. The run showed that a WAR and no healer playing badly can clear dungeon content FASTER than with a healer in NEW content. That means that we have 2+ more years of awful healing ahead of us. He played like dogwater and did fine(Yes yes, world first raider, big parse, big penis, bald, whatever) in that particular run, manually clicking abilities and eating vulns for lunch, and it was STILL faster than just taking a healer normally. This is a design issue, because it shows healers are irrelevant even in content that has not come out yet.
Healers have been asking for changes since the beginning of Shadowbringers where they gutted every healer's kit massively and left us with 1 DPS button, 1 DoT, and 1 AoE. We've been ignored for around five years now. The strike may seem stupid, but it got us heard. Being polite and discussing things in the correct channels only got us ignored.
Healers were also told by Yoshi P to "Go play Ultimate" and then TOP was cleared on patch with no healers, which makes us even more irrelevant. There are no 0 tank clears of Ultimate content, or 0 DPS clears. The closes example is a clear in old content that has been content crept massively(UCOB). Even then, even in Ultimate content, all we really have to do for the most part is pressing Broil. There just isn't enough damage to go around. Healers have nothing to heal due to low incoming damage in current content and high sustain on other classes, most notably WAR. But at the same time when all we have to do in downtime is DPS, and 95% of our time is now downtime, that means all we can do is press the one damage button.
Checking parses of Gemina is pointless, you don't need to only do high tier endgame raiding to have an opinion on the state of healing. Tanks and DPS aren't "only fun in savage+". Healers shouldn't be relegated to only being able to play their role in endgame raiding either. To say otherwise is just gatekeeping content. The vast majority of content run on the daily will be casual content, since everyone does roulettes daily for tomestone farming.
If you feel our points are irrelevant I highly encourage you to try out healer for DT. I do recognize that calling it a "Strike" might not have been the best idea, but at least now we're heard. I'll take being memed on over being ignored for a third expansion in a row. I would also like to ask you, as I do anyone with a differing opinion: What should we have done? Knowing that we have tried to discuss this in the healer forums before and have been ignored for five years, that we are quitting healing out of finding it no longer fun to play and picking up other roles, what would be the "correct" avenue to take our grievances?
"The rotation is dull for everyone when things aren't going wrong"
braindead take. Are the rotations on other classes literally 111111111112111111111112111111111? No, of course not.
50% of my inputs on any given savage clear as Scholar are broil. Not 50% of my gcds, 50% of ALL of my inputs. You can't really think that's fine.
"What content do they do"
Hey man, why don't you try looking ME up on the thing? Ririten Yuyuten, you'll fine me on Tomestone and FFlogs. I've cleared every savage fight, and i've done all of them on content aside from Nael and Alexander. Sure i've only cleared the two "easy" ultimates though so maybe thats not enough. Have I done enough content to have an opinion?
I personally dont get how people can be so doom and gloom BEFORE even playing the content. I'm a healer main and I do recognize that healers are not necessary in dungeon runs. However if you've healed in the duty finder you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are 100% necessary for like 75%-80% of the player base who can't avoid an aoe to save their life or are allergic to mitigation. If through all that you say that healing is too easy, I genuinely think you should just play harder content. Progging a EX or Savage fight on healer is a lot of fun. Especially when you start optimizing your cooldowns.
Imagine for a moment if Tanks were the only role that could be completely removed from a dungeon and still clear it? Wouldn’t feel good seeing your role being relatively useless compared to the others in casual content. It wouldn’t be nearly as much of an issue if it wasn’t Just healers who could be completely removed with little issue
Go ahead with the strike I will have instant queues with Scholar
Im a newbie healer just started today and i aint striking what happened that healers went on a strike?
As a Sage main, I'm perfectly fine with the self healing the other roles have. I see it as this, i can mostly ignore healing a dps unless the mechanic requires it or they keep messing up. And with the tanks it means that i don't need to worry about them unless they get to about 20-30% health. And most warriors i can fully let take care of themselves sometimes. The people planning this "strike" can go ahead. I'll be enjoying the queue times.
I've played healer since release, and they've only made it more and more safer to dps. Healing role shouldn't be a dps with extra work. The only way to solve the problem is to change dps skills to buff or debuff skills only in dungeons and raids and then in open world change back to dps skills. Otherwise healers can't solo main story quests for example.
