Mch need debuffs equal to brd and dnc buffs.
If you like the job play the job, the charts and numbers only matter to a small group of people. I have small gripes with mch to but I still enjoy the shoot bangs every now an then
Gonna be real here. It may be bad, but it's so fun.
So how I'd like to see the DPS rankings (raid DPS) – let's assume 8k on the top end to give numbers context:
* The melees (would be the 100.0% in this case) => 8.0k
* BLM, MCH (say 97.5% of a melee) => 7.8k
* SMN and RDM (around 95%, which is more or less what it is now of the top).. BRD, DNC => 7.6k
I think this would lean to more of a balanced state, though this would mean that BLM would see less damage – I think it's weird that BLM gets the special treatment out of the casters "because they need to cast", they have the tools necessary to deal with movement, with the second charge of Triplecast, and other instant cast tools. I know my SAM complains about having to cast, and doesn't have the necessary tools to do it, while me on RDM can just store an Acceleration/Swiftcast to deal with it (I might even be floating on both stacks because I'm proc flooded)
I do think there should be a lot less variance for melee DPS, they already don't really offer party utility other than damage tools or buffs. The overall party dmg would end up going up a little bit (my party comp right now uses RPR, SAM, RDM, MCH)
All this time I thought Synastry would only heal if it was someone other than the target getting the initial heal
Personally I would prefer they give it a single target buff but not as nuts as DNC and maybe a personal debuff exclusive to them like a 5% damage down to a target every 60 or 90 seconds?
Agree that MCH needs some buffs. But I think majority of players are still playing it as ShB MCH and not Endwalker MCH. Yes we only got Chainsaw as an added skill to our rotation. But that skill alone changes a lot the way how MCH should be played now. Even our common opener is different now in terms on how it is sequenced. Before, I didnt care about raid buffs and throw everything without waiting for them and still got top dps but now I have to be carefully aware of the raid buffs and when I should or should not use my Queen especially with the extra 20 battery upkeep from chainsaw.
This has started to get to me recently, as an MCH main after raiding P3S in PF this weekend 😞
I know all I have is the 10% reduced damage buff to contribute, so I try extra hard to execute fight mechanics correctly to make up for the lack of damage..
Still can't help but feel a bit unwanted though, and considering leveling Bard or Dancer to help my static now..
But look at the good side you have guns.
It worries me when I do more damage or equal or slightly lower dps than samurais or monks in Pf savage . Then again it’s party finder and filled with trash
the top 5% also will always get more dmg out of raid buffs with brd and dnc.
Mch is always weak at start of expansions. We're having a meta where rdps is more valuable, with monk being the top melee a great example.
You can still clear and be efficiente with mch, plus the job scales really well with stats and it's certainly gonna get better next tiers.
They really should be focusing on fixing job design flaws like drk, whm and sge instead of worrying about that
Yeahh was a MCH main through ShB but this raid tier just wasn't viable. Almost felt like I was griefing my static because I wanted to play it. Gave in and switched to RDM and now I do more damage and helped us prog way better.
I think looking only at rdps is a flawed way to determine how useful machinist is in particular. Of the three ranged machinist deals the most personal dps by far, and with a heavy burst, means it benefits the most from raid buffs of the three, and I don't think that that should just be ignored by everyone like it is because it isn't tracked at all by fflogs in terms of determining percentiles. rpds doesn't paint a full picture.
with all the "Attack on Titan" feel in the mch job i never understood no grappling hook gap closer.

Every job is viable but mch is supposed to be a blm/sam equivalent for ranged physical, but does pitiful damage so most groups doesn't need a mch and would take a dnc or brd for the utility and damage.
Either mch need to gain utility or buff it's damage (especially wildfire where a good wildfire proc is only about or barely better then reassembled drill)

it seems like MCH should become the "selfish" ranged physical DPS. We have SAM which is generally considered the selfish melee, and BLM which seems to be considered the selfish ranged magic, so there is an opening for a selfish ranged physical. You could give it raid buffs to make it more on par with the other ranged but I feel like making it stand out among ranged physical DPS as just "the big dick damage dealer" of ranged physical makes sense.
@3:18 "minus healers"…uh. Temperance. Collective Unconscious. Fey Illumination, Sacred Soil, Expedience (discounting the aoe shields). Kerachole and Holos (and various shields). Healers are stacked for aoe damage cuts.
I get how this will bully MCH players in pug groups. When the other DPS are falling behind and hit enrage, they'll just blame MCH automatically regardless if their doing their absolute best.
While I know the use case for Lilybell and know how to use it effectively, it… just isn't fun. It's so passive an uninvolved, more or less just acting like a janky aoe excog or… earthly star that needs me to take damage to detonate.
Knowing the time to use it in a fight means I can do insane healing with it, but the thing is a fucking 3 minute cooldown and after I set it down, I have no interaction with it.
It all just feels.. boring. On the Healer already designed to be extremely basic and straightforward. I just want more complexity. More variety. And something more enjoyable than summoning a bot that casts medica ONLY when I take damage once every eon.
I dont want it removed– I just want to have more fun with my favorite class.
The only reason I played machinist for my first P2S clear, is that all groups were looking for a physical range and it is my only 90 physical range. Im mainly using ninja and bard now, mch is too trash to be a selfish dps.
Does it really matter? Could be dead the whole fight and still clear 99.8 percent of the bosses in the game. If it really upsets you, you can level up another job in a day. Not really sure why jobs or balance matters in this game at all outside of going for world first on savage bosses. There isn’t a single boss you won’t kill because you have a MCH in the group.
The 1% buff is a dps loss of you take mch at 90+ precentile, it's a troll job rn
Since my static caster spot is a BLM I decided to switch from MCH to RDM. The only thing we loose is the 1% party buff but gain so much more. I still have party mitigation with magiced barrier. I even contribute more DPS and have instant resses on fly in clutches. I really wish I had a reason to touch MCH again. Maybe give them back their dmg buff from HW would fix a lot…

My thoughts:
Wildfire:
Duration- 15 sec
*when the target is hit with a weapon skill or spell the target take 200 damage. (And anyone can hit it)
Bio blaster:
Remove shared cool down.
*the longer the target is in the spray more stacks of the dot apply and the timer refreshes.
Or
Remove shared cool down
30 sec cool down
*your next weapon skill will apply a 10% of the damage as a dot for 15 sec. (Yes it works with aoe)
MCH are suppost to be easiest DPS to play, its for casual gamers who wanted to play as DPS, u only need to do a few dungeon runs as MCH to fully grasp the job.. easy job to play = low reward.. other DPS are much harder to master, its for gamers who wanted High Risk High Reward jobs, if u mastered them u can give insane DPS output… if MCH have same DPS as other DPS where you only need few dungeon runs to fully grasp them.. why bother to master/play other DPS job..
