  1. nah, they should have just ended FF14 with Endwalker, now all this negativity is growing and that is the last thing you want lead up to new expansion, i think Dawntrail going to be more like a filler arc…, people will get bored quickly…
i don't think you going to see alot of new players coming, and the current FF14 players will drop even more…
i think if Dawntrail fail, they will make FF17 an MMO, build from the ground up with new game engine…

  2. Would play this game so much more if they would really fix the Housing system, its an awesome part of the game that not every player can experience and definitely ads to some great gameplay experience.

  3. found you via D4 drama, now you constructively critisize ff14? you deserve my sub 🙂 hny

Been a long time player of ff14 (since ps3 closed beta, moved to ps4 and due to ps5 shortages – i still cant get one locally – moved to PC.) the story is the defining part of the game, for me at least. It's story puts modern singleplayer games (outside of finallly BG3) to shame.
Gameplay is easy to pick up and somewhat difficult to master, but if you play it regularly (not constantly) then it is a good way to stay good.

The last two years have been a bumpy ride since I completed EW, but to me personally, that is not really the game's fault. like 5% the new extended wait per patch, 5 % the new ideas which are, as you said, more of a spreadsheet simulator, but mostly, and this is since before EW, my mental health (I will be honest, I noticed my mental health deteriorating, the LESS I played FF14, but the stresses from Work and Life were too much and it kept compounding)

With the third fanfest for DT just five days away, I am still in the "wait and see" phase of the pre expansion cycle (though I am excted for Viper and hope it finally gets me away from being all Tank).
Once we've got the rest of the fanfest Info, then I will be in the massive speculation mode, which I enjoy a lot.

After your honest insights for D4, I was not expecting you to tackle ff14 next, but boy was it a pleasant surprise.

  4. I honestly don’t like the endgame. It’s WAY boring. Unless you’re doing savage you only have to run one dungeon 5 times a week. If you’re into crafting and all that there’s more but the endgame focus isn’t really the combat content and that sucks. I like both games but as far as endgame goes I definitely prefer WoW. It’s gear grind is WAAAAY better IMO

  5. 14 is my mmo of choice. I'm taking a break for awhile during the pre-expansion lull. There are issues they need to address, like the fact that you really can only get enough tomes to gear up one job at a time during a raid tier or 2 min burst window meta being boring af, as well as many others. It'll be important for them to adjust a lot of things. The only dev studio that I trust at the moment is the 14 team. I think they pay too much attention to the players for them to just whiff at this point.

  6. Yee I think it is gonna be some trial and error. They definitely tried to bring new stuff to the game but for many it slightly missed the mark. I am happy to see they are trying to bring new stuff and I feel like they will build off the variants and hopefully improve.

I think midcore content is something that would be awesome for many. Something the game really needs.

  7. I agree with the comment that said all FFXIV really needs is one solid midcore content mode like Bozja was. Because personally I am not worried about the story or enjoyment of boss fights. The issue is lack of fun repeatable content. Im not saying the game is overall lacking it. But for people fully caught up with crafting and gathering too, yes a lack of midcore content that you want to do becomes an issue.

And I say that as someone who just started over on Dynamis, Seraph (NA) so it isn't really affecting me for a long time. But I care about the other players enjoyment.

  8. I absolutely love 14 and I have an embarrassing amount of hours in it. As far as the narrative, I don't expect to be blown away by Dawntrail. There is every chance that they're going to go the direction of a low stakes framework build for future expansions. I expect it to be "adequate". As far as the patch content, I am optimistic since extra systems and additional content options are generally designed well after the main story content and its related raids so the success depends on their ability to react to Endwalker feedback. So far it sounds like they are but they certainly could drop the ball.

  9. I think there dangerous room for miinterperetation when it comes to the intent behind the the statement "You should also pay attention to the players who want to stay all of the time."

That very quickly dips into what is trying to be prevented here. If you create meaningful progression for those who wish to stay, there is a hyper thin, potentially non-existant line to navigate between that and implmenting FOMO in your game.

I have some ideas of how it can be implmented (Think more memorial content, things with collectables or small asethetic changes to the game, like alternate skill graphics you can equip.) but these ideas may not resonate with the players who think the only meainingful rewards they can get MUST relate to the gear tredmill cycle that puts off so many players over time.

To be blunt. I want content that I'm not only going to enjoy, but has something that's going to last to me, and no, ilevel gear with semi-okay glamours on gear that expires out doesn't count anymore. It just doesn't interest me and I don't like how that seems to be the only focus of those reqesting Midcore content. I want soemthing that helps impact my identity as a player in the game, not just moves my stats further up in the rat race.

  10. The whole "Save the world, fight the Empire" Really gets old after 3 expansions, it didn't really felt like an adventure, so I hope the next expansion that hints on being more of a adventure and discovering new worlds then same "World in danger, go save it"

  11. As a 10 year FF14 vet – my priorities have shifted in my life over the last 10 years and while I still love 14, I don’t have the energy to play it like I used to. I’ll keep enjoying the story and easy content but do hope more things get added to those who got way more hours and energy to sink in

  12. As a Savage and Ultimate raider, I got way too burnt out on the formula. In FFXIV fights are everything to me, and they are just so stagnate and predictable now that dedicating the time and energy just doesn't feel worth it any longer. Seriously, every fight in the game is Tank/Group buster > Dance Mech > Repeat. Not only that, even though I know this is heavily in the minority, I WISH they had actual raid dungeons. I know many people think the "load into the boss and just fight the boss" was a great move, for me personally, I think it was just laziness (on the player base). I want ACTUAL raids in the game. These changes will never happen, so I will probably be never coming back to the game.
