With the role quests [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] especially when [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] oh and it's [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED].
All in all, it's quite interesting.
As someone who has finished Endwalker, I still think the Tempest is creepy as hell and I have a hard time going there for bounties.
I said it last video and I'll say it again, you guys' editing style is so endearing. You elicit many smalls chuckles from me throughout. Thank you for the extra effort.
Also, time travel boyfriend in the matrix? I need to run Alexander!
"Dude, 5.0, Shadowbringer, is the greatest… thing I've experienced in a game, in a looong time."
Ain't that a mood? I remember saying something similar to my friends as we watched the credits. And then we reached 5.3. And that got topped off so wonderfully. Rejoice! For there's plenty of amazing experiences to have yet in this game
I got actual chills at the end with the amaurot music and emet's line. Wonderful video and top tier editing, as usual
Kyle cutting Garrett's trauma short in the opening. Oh dear lord
"wanted the melancholy to last"
Endwalker has entered chat
Pray return to the Rising Stones
Did yall ever visit the RIsing stones after warring triad between patches?
I love waking up to find a new discussion vid from GG
The stream was fun to follow
To me Alexander was more about Time Loop rather than time travel.
watching you guys finish 5.0 was so much fun. cant wait for the vid about it!
I who loved the Alexander story silently weeping.
Appreciate the Minfilia Miner pop up 😂
"Introducing time travel can really mess up storytelling"
Not in this game, bucko. It's all fire, and don't you forget it!
Sadge about Ivalice though… I loved FFT, but think it wasn’t really well implemented into ffxiv…
Years later, multiple relived experiences like this, remixes and og just sat and absorbed, that background ticking and first few notes of Amaurot still make me emotional.
The Nier Raids honestly won’t make a lot of sense if you don’t have context for Nier.
And THAT gets even weirder because Taro Yoko considers the Raids canon to Nier and even had the character from the XIV Raids in the Gacha Game, so it gets even more confusing how it all ties together to the world of Nier and a certain theory.
Sorry if this is too crude, but my first thought watching the intro was "I did not expect for the video to open with Garrett's Oh face."
Well that's my headcanon on the glasses now.
its funny how its the fish people who regard the humanoid emet as otherworldly when its usually the other way around in lovecraft stories.
8:25 The zenos fans all think about him this way.
The architectural style of the buildings is called Neo-Imperialism. Very pretty. Especially when mixed with fantasy (ever played Bioshock? It’s Steampunk Neo-Imperialism meets Cyberpunk) and yeah the City looks a lot like Rapture.
Ah, I love how they're talking about how they were setting up systems for later with the tempest, about how the fishmen and how ardnolt will most likely return for relic weapons. In retrospect it the tempest really was just a weird, atrophied location that just is not relevant to any post game outside of a single big fate.
The place just kind of existed. We never go back to it for mechanical reasons, and while we do return to amarot for story reasons, we never really do anything in the overworld. Such a strange stretch for the final level in retrospect.
I love you guys and everything
But damn you tease harder than ANY of my girlfriends… ok sample size 1 but still
Your edits keep getting better and sharper and that thumbnail is inspired. Can’t wait for next week
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined…
See you next week!
Y'all are evil for ending it here, especially after your community went out of their way to ensure you didn't end here on the actual playthrough!
I can feel Garrett vibrating with chat's excitement for 5.0 and wholeheartedly respect the insistence not to skip over stuff before getting to hypest parts. 😀
I agree with other people that says this is downtime and to reset the pace. Doing this near launch, that Mt Gulg ending was such a rollercoaster that going straight to Emet feels like it would make the excitement start blurring together and feel less impactful. The Ondo, while not terribly exciting, really felt like a point to get the player to catch their breath a bit and come down off the previous 'high' (of seeing everything going to crap).
The Crystaium bit, however, I liked for a different reason. Throughout the whole game, the Warrior of Light has almost always been the hero to do the saving. Now you've been taken out of the game for a bit and its your friend's turn to go and do their best to save you. I don't remember many other games that make the player character the hero and then have a section of the game where the quest is to save the player character (and he ones I do know I don't want to name to avoid spoiling them). It's a nice touch to help the Scion feel like they aren't just questgivers but true companions to the Warrior of Light.
Haha yeah all those Ondo quests are setting up for some riveting sidequests. Can't wait to do my Ondo dailies, it was a cherished part of the ShB endgame grind.
I've come to look forward to these analysis videos as much the MSQ streams themselves. As an emotional vampire, that's something, 'eeeey? No one else really does this. People share their thoughts / have conversations, sure, but no one puts out things like this. Certainly not in this format. I didn't mind the Ondo stuff too much either, personally. It was a good 'cool down' from all the crazy stuff that happened earlier. Plus, I love good world building. Gimme, gimme, gimme!
For me, it dragged far less than the Trolley (and wayyyy less than the pre-nerf Titan / Feast) section when I played through it. They do a pretty good job of balancing the story with the "necessary evils" of an MMO game. It's not perfect, but they do a great job. I do wish we'd have lived with the defeat just a little longer too, though. Just a little bit.
I can't be the only one who first saw Amaraut and thought of Monty Python and the Holy Grail when they first set sight on Camelot, and one of the servants says;" It's only a model." !
"All I wanna do is talk about the end of Shadowbringers!" Welcome to our lives and why people are so impatient about it. XD
I know you've done The Twinning. I really hope you recorded this video before that because otherwise the entire section around 10 minutes in makes you look kinda silly.
I do feel like you're underestimating Omega's influence on Cid's research. Alexander did time (whatever you think of the story, the primal is a master of time), Omega did dimensions, and travel between. Alexander's part is what brought future G'raha to the past, while Omega's part brought him from The Source to The First (and the Scions/WoL too).
My impression of you two in this video.
Garrett: "Are we there yet?"
Kyle: "Not yet, we still got this and that to talk about…"
Garrett: "…So… Are we there yet?"
Kyle: "…No."
"lets just go back in time to save everyone!", man I hope one day they react to Dragon Song Reprise (Ultimate), not necessarily them doing the fight themselves but the lore, it would be very interesting to see what they would comment on it, even if it isnt… ya know
Y'know, I didn't think a YT vid could blue-ball me. Congrats?
Neither of you have played FFX, I believe, so this will likely mean nothing to you, but my first exclamation upon seeing Amaurot for the first time was "Zanarkand 2.0". So much of what is embodied in Amaurot was first explored in FFX in the city of Zanarkand. If you get time, I highly recommend that game, if only for the story and some of the themes.
So while Garrett kept having to jingle the keys during their stream to stop Kyle from getting distracted from the MSQ, now the roles are reversed when discussing the lead-up to the finale. Poetic.
Absolutely loved that final edit at the end of the video. Great work as always and can't wait for the final video.
Garret: There's no way time travel is going to work and Alexander is an afterthought.
me: Oh sweet summer's child.
I just want to say, you both are one of my favorite creators on YouTube. I alway look forward on your predictions. Yes I’m in end game but your videos are so great to watch. Your pace on the MSQ is great. Wish I could make it for a stream. I will try sometime. Much ❤ and keep up the excellent work.
