WoW have literal snout nosed sentient COWS, elves with ANTENNA eyebrows but somehow think they got the authority to call anything Final Fantasy "weeb" is beyond hilarious.

People do not call FFXIV a weeb game because of the game itself, but because of the people that play it. And by that I mean me, I play it.
These videos lately, you two really need to tone it down with the gushing. Ffxiv is a fine game, played it since 1.0, but it's not the second coming. It does some stuff better than wow, but equally wow does a lot of things better than ffxiv as well.
The art style is not aesthetically pleasing to me, but I understand it’s possible to look past it since it’s a good game.
The generic vocalized rock music is pure trash though.

I love anime and while the content might divert from it, aesthetically, FF is weeb as hell. That's not bad, but it is what it is.

there's a pretty diverse crowd in the game but the game is very "anime". not all anime is dragonball z. and the primary demographic is certainly weebs, edgelord neckbeards and… well, we'll just leave it at "minorities"… anybody can enjoy the game but you're not going to get nearly the enjoyment out of it unless you're a weeb or "non binary". it's just the nature of what's dominant in the game.
this entire video plays out like two butthurt nerds defending their choice of playing a game by trying to argue the minutia of the game that falls outside the stereotype as if it's the majority of the game. even going as far as to compare it to dark souls 🤣 which is where that fact became concrete. games got 2 cat races, a reptilian race and a bunny race and "it's not a furry game" 🤣 i love ffxiv but I'm not going to argue the truth of what it is.
Weeaboo is a mostly derogatory slang term for a Western person who is obsessed with Japanese culture, especially anime, often regarding it as superior to all other cultures.
This perfectly encapsulates what bugs me so much about Asmongold. I don't care if he doesn't like the game or criticizes it because it isn't perfect, but don't dismiss it as a weeb game when, if you actually play the game, you see just how far off the mark that claim is. How people use the term is irrelevant, you know what they mean. What matters is the fact that some people, including me, don't want to play a game where there are small anime girls with modern day clothes running around town next to my big aggressively armored man. It just doesn't fit together.

FF14 lacks a theme like WoW has with its magical medieval world. There are way too many themes merged into this game that it just feels so off to the point where it's distasteful. Modern day car mounts, robotics, dragons, chairs. Idk, just doesn't appeal to me.

I always considered FFXIV a weeb game even while playing and enjoying it. I was fine with it. But then I started paying attention to other Japanese MMO's and an epiphany occurred when I looked at Phantasy Star Online 2 more. That's when I went "holy shit.. this is.. FFXIV isn't a weeb game at ALL. THIS is a fucking weeb game."
I think a weeb game to many of people having an aversion to something due to it being such, is that it's something you'd be embarrassed telling people you play. Phantasy Star Online 2? Yeah, I don't think I could easily mention that if I played. Genshin impact? Chinese made, but there's hella Japanese anime tropes in there. Definitely weeby. But final fantasy is so deeply rooted in European culture that it's only very Japanese in the literal Japanese area of the game, Kugane.
