It’s 2021 and I’m committing to finally play and finish Final Fantasy 14, A Realm Reborn to be exact.
Staring FF14 in 2021 shouldn’t be a hard task but we’ll see how things actually go, join me as I play FF14 for the first time all the way through from start to finish.
With endwalker on the horizon now is the perfect time to catch up (or at least I hope)
If you liked the video why not drop a like and comment to let me know what you think!

Let’s see how it goes this time…this final time
You are playing the ps4 version? There is a dedicated ps5 version on the store yo.
Dude keep up these great videos they are awesome
I just did it in 3 weeks. Now I did put in 3.5 days of playtime though.
Dude i started playing final fantasy at the same age and my first one was Crisis Core too
Hope you have fun! I started in 2021 too after hearing about how much people loved the stories in the expansions. FFX was my first FF and also is my favorite, for reference 🙂
One curious thing I observed was that it feels like most of FF14's playerbase is people who like MMOs, more than people who are into the FF franchise. And on the flipside I feel like many people who love the FF series don't give 14 a shot especially because it's an MMO. I dunno if anyone else has that same observation but I thought it was interesting. It's a lot of fun to play the game when you're familiar with Final Fantasy tropes which you obviously are. Enjoy the game!
Oh and PS since you're playing gladiator: if you're in a dungeon with a party of 4+ people, 1) keep Iron Will on so that enemies will focus on you the tank instead of your teammates, and 2) spam Total Eclipse the spinning sword attack if theres 3+ enemies on you. You deal more total damage on a group rather than focusing on one enemy with your combo 🙂
Oh and do the Hall of the Novice missions before your first dungeon! It'll give you some basics on your responsibilities as a gladiator plus give you some really nice looking armor. 😀
The biggest tip for getting through the early game content is to play with friends more experienced with ff14 than you. I meet a co worker at a new job who is a ff14 veteran with all jobs level at level 80. Hes helped me alot.
Worst thing about character creation is lack of beards….
Im actually so glad you are editing these videos. Nice 20 min long videos is great
Your video quality is awesome
Also online games are meant to play with friends or by yourself if that's what your into but the importance thing is to take breaks cause too much off one thing can be overwhelming make vids of other things for a break like hmm maybe final fantasy 13 2 🙂 😁
I really love the way you talk of games, i feel retrospectives and analysis suit you a lot.
But i noticed that there's a struggle whenever you try to do the commentary while you play. I still want to see your drunk highlights and gameplay with company. Kinda wish i liked Final Fantasy though 😔
Anything but the beard!
Great video I also have to go back and play it
Please continue making ffxiv videos, they're really fun!
As someone who catched up to XIV a week ago, I totally get the feel of slacking off during ARR lol, it’s such a slog (specially the patches between ARR and HW, even with the 100 quests they removed it was tedious even being a setup for the expansion), if it wasn’t for a friend who encouraged me to press on I’d not be doing endgame content now. Good luck on the XIV streams! Can definitely say it’s worth it
FFXIV is such a fun game, you really need to push through to Shadowbringer to live your true final fantasy
You don't have to pay to play the game before you are done with Heaven's ward.
Also if you can't finish a realm reborn you have to play through the every story dlc 🙂
Clean shave. Yes, yes.
I’m playing through the game for about a month. I’m almost done A Realm Reborn. Being a gladiator/paladin makes the game fun for me. I’m loving the second half of ARR’s story.
