As I said on the old video:
FFXIV staff saying that "they cant detect third party software" is pure bullshit.
They won't admit, but modders actually save a lot of money, since they solve tons of basic issues, that the spaghetti code causes on the game.
Bro, modders even created Mare. That's huge. Meanwhile, Square won't even give us more glamour slots lmao.
well f fantasia, that shit should be free anyway.
hey, I'm sure I saw this video earlier
and here i thought it was another hitpiece against mod for no reasons whatsoever.
im glad its not that atleast.
Some tools and mods are fine, but at some point people should really just go play Second Life or The Sims (since the mods are only for you anyway)
"Only you can see it" Nope, they have a mod for that as well.
Dejavu :0
I don't use Magitech Optical Disorders (MODs) that said I'll subscribe to your alt just case the worst happens 💙
I thought I was just going to have a light laugh at a FFXIV video
… and you had to go and remind me that degens are actively stealing from Squeenix.
But the dig on Wuk set me straight again, thank you!
Cant wait for the lewd Txitter ffxiv posts link their accounts while complaining Lulu is talking about this.
If they would make mods unplayable by constantly patching game most of playerbase would quit.
-People who play this game as it is some fkn second life would be gone after they would realise they cant modify their character as they want to make sweet screenshoots or erp would be first ones to go, since it would not be worth for them to stay just for chat, they can find chat anywhere on internet (I'd say its porobably the biggest group in game).
-Second people to leave would be so called hardcore raiders if they would loose access to tools like cackbot etc. Cuz lets be honest half of people cant really raid without it, even if they dont admit to using it. So many times I've seen people claiming not to use any tools just to react to mechanics before there are any visible indicators.
-Next group would be housing community, considering how shit in game tools for housing are, and its impossible to do anything good without mods or glitching, but no one wants to glitch for half hour just to lift 1 item above ground.
This would leave only new players and casuals who just play this game as it would be any normal MMO, but to be honest there is not much for them. Once most of them finish story and beat most of open world content they will be slowly quiting aswell, since its hard to keep people playing by offering them 100 dungeons that are all basically the same and raids that are so piss easy that even newbies can do em while watching youtube on 2nd screen without paying attention to game. Then realising that if they want to join any FC, they can as well change game since guild system in this game is non existent, and so called FC's in 99% of cases are just lists of people leaching on buffs, who cant even speak a word in chat.
The only group that would kind of stay would be MSQ enjoyers, but they would be just hopping on and off after each patch.
(Guess I'll copy my comment from the other one then.)
Just waiting for the inevitable Live Letter talking about modding because the new Ultimate is out. With each Ultimate, we get one of Yoshi-P going "Stop it. Get some help" because some world first gets caught with it on their streams.
While I'm on board with the micro patches, if they intend on ever tackling the modding problem, they need to also be prepared to quickly, in long lists, release a ton of new armor, hair, vanity, housing, and QoL updates to the game. Most of the problem is that the game is barren in the way of options if you have a specific look you want to go for, big titty and wolf dick mods aside. It's much worse if you play a male character. No long hair options, very few armor options, weird color variations on armor that don't match with any dye in the game, and a long list of other problems.
As for the raiding community, I have zero sympathy if their mods get bricked. After listening to them whine about the difficulty not being good enough, then cheating through the content, or getting a robot to tell them everything to do instead of learning the very formulaic fights in XIV, the can cry more and git gud.
Selling modified versions of Square Enix's copyrighted assets is freaking insane.
They could be sued for SO much money.
That aside, I think mods and plugins are fun. I've spent lots of hours in-game just taking sweet screenshots with gpose plugins. I feel as though Square would lose more than they'd gain if they were to give all 3rd party assets/tools the boot.
I think sending a cease and desist is probably more damaging to them than letting the mods keep going, you would be playing whack-a-mole while you're turning a section of the community against you, not to mention i don't think you can even cease and desist someone who isn't from Japan about this issue because mods aren't illegal (or at best ambiguous) in other countries. You wouldn't have a legal case to begin with, other than maybe suing the owner of Anamnesis. Maybe. It affects the modders but not many else, yet those who mod and play the game how they see fit is still part of our ecosystem. A ton of people probably use ReShade. Less people use hair or texture mods, and even less people go the full length and get Anamnesis
Micropatching is probably not a good idea either, i imagine there's a reason no one really does it aside from hotfixing critical issues (at least when we're talking about large studios or large games). You need an environment and good tech to probably make that work, but i think it's an alright solution i wouldn't mind if realistic, but i don't think micropatching and just changing a little code alone is what breaks all mods for 2 weeks? So i'm not sure if in practice this would even work. I'm not in to IT so i could be talking out of my ass, but i'm also not convinced
And yeah, second lifers play this game but it's literally in the name; mmoRPg. It's probably one of the few MMOs that take roleplaying as seriously as it does(which is still a relatively low bar lmao) which is why ''lifestyle'' is so big here, a lot of glams in the game already promote it. I'd wager you of all people should know, this is you in your element after all
As much as it is cringe and repulsive to me it's kinda weird to want to nuke them and the culture they have. At least these people stick to themselves where we can't see them (literally since they are modding lol), instead of turning Limsa in to Goldshire
I doubt this is a signifcant enough issue for them to tackle, be it in how it makes the game look or how it affects peoples' investments in the game, not to mention all the lifestyle topics you see about the game makes it also more welcoming as well as attracting the playerbase that would be interested in that stuff, even if they won't use mods themselves. It also probably varies from region and culture, so this is is giving off ''world revolves around me'' vibes that twitter users or the americans are known for
skyrim modders: first time.
There will always be those annoying sloot mods that take over the front page, pushing any mod the provides actual content to the way side.
I used to be all in for mods, me and my friends had our fun, but quickly after mare launched, things escalated at a velocity that was mind boggling. I was interested in checking dances and emotes to have fun with my friends, but suddenly their characters started becoming.. too much, body mods, clothes, a friend of mine used a mod to make his character significantly taller than everyone else, in a way that became distracting during duties. Soon after I checked off, disabled everyone on mare and started to focus on vanilla. And then Dawntrail dropped and I just dont feel like playing that much anymore..
TLDR mods are awesome!!!
I like to have cute hairs on my Hyur…
And to have silly dances, I don't think there should be anything wrong with it
counterpoint on the anamnesis, and this is stricly as someone who used to play but is on a long hiatus and has never touched the bloody thing… it's a good way to test how things work. you do know clothing has clipping issues with some hairs, etc.
Depending upon how you use it, it can be a good way to shop smart, save some gil on certain issues, plan outfits and fantasia results, etc.
Mods can be used for great good or great evil, and it's the users and developers of them who determine that. Case in point the copying of your character. that is a step over the line. *way over*.
I'm a member of r/ff14_badNSFW …..it's like I'm on Liveleak…but instead of gore, it's body horror.
I'm not sure why you think mods are financially damaging to the game. People who use mods still spend a lot of money on the game, and many only play because of the mods
I think mods are great and only ever an issue if people make hacks, which is a tiny, tiny fraction of modding. I love shitposting with custom emotes and doing funky things with my character. My favorite one replaces the slap emote with a big squeaky hammer bonk, followed closely by one that (used) to turn every single player into a lalafell.
But they need to STOP with the amount of paywalls. The only thing that may make squeenix crack down on mods is people trying to make money, and I find the widespread acceptance of paywalls morally repugnant. I'm glad it is the focus of the video. These people need to be ostracized, or squeenix is eventually gonna shut ALL of it down, and genuinely most of it is just amazing QOL, fun stuff, and screenshot fodder. It's a boon to the game, with small downsides, and absolutely keep a LOT of people around that would not be paying a sub without mods.
As someone who mod my single player games, skyrim for example. I dont see a problem modding FF14 as long as its just visual like for glamming and posing and doesnt affect anybody else. And i dont agree with this video in many aspects because while it can let you see shop items. I would still like my friends to see me in my new glam in game and why do a dance that only I can see. So I still support the game buying glams and emotes and the same goes for fantasia
This game is cooked…
If they ever release a new FF mmo, i might give it a try.
Ban em all babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Like 5% of this video listed actual concerns and problems with modded FF. The rest is misinformation, not knowing how things actually work, or intentions or uses for plugins. For paid mods as well most mod makers for clothing and such release their work for free at a later date. Hell the maked for one of the most popular body mods, YAB, has a rule in his TOS for it. You cannot keep a mod as a paid mod that uses YAB for longer than 3 months. After 3 months the mod HAS to be released publicly for free. There are definitely creators that charge and price gouge but most just have patreons and kofis as a way to support them for what they do. Tbh you say this is all "satire" but based on your recent content it seems youve just become bitter and jealous of other creators doing better than you. Youve thrown shade indirectly to other creators in your backhanded comments in your "new direction" vid on your main channel, and now youre here in this one spreading a lot of misinformation and assumtions. Id suggest instead of being bitter and turning into an ass, you should just stay in your own lane
I'm so surprised you didn't mention Mare lol
You know for a fact, Behind every giant tiddied, meat dragging catgirl yelling "gock" in /shout is a REALLY lonely man.
Love the premise of the video hate the delivery, do agree though.
The thing that gets to me the most about FFXIV Modding is the amount of paid mods, they are against everything modding once stood for in the past. They also enter a greyzone, as you now make money with an IP, that is not yours to monetize, and you break the ToS by modding, where the latter is the lesser issue.
There is no incentive to go after free mods made by enthusiasts for Square, but I have a feeling the would love to cease and desist some of the paid mod makers.
Oh fucking no, god forbid people enjoy the game with QOL shit that SQEX has failed to add to the game for 12 years… Oh… Oh no…
Degen fantasy 14.
Just a sprout, I'll avoid modding… but I've glanced at the store
vanity or not, that place is criminally expensive. Not quite 90 dollar mount or 500 dollar skin bad, but still way too much. I can see why the modding scene is so big.
I don't care about the graphical aspect – do whatever you want
But the insane ammount of cheatinng going on in raids and pvp nowadays just isnn't fun anymore
Few days ago one of the "best" RWF teams got banned for using straight up botting tools for their reclears
And high level CC is prety much unplayable due to the ammount of addons automatically guardinng / polymorphing for you
Fallout 4 and Skyrim are literally only alive because of mods.
What are you smoking? 😂
If it wasn't for mods i would have cancelled my sub 2 years ago
Had a friend who mods and showed me a screenshot of what they see vs what I see…. bruh ya'll need to take loooong ass breaks from this game and go out and make some friends or something because ya'll playing a hentai game.
