  1. the same thing happened with warframe. it was really niche and had a tight community that was all about helping each other and was really nice. but once the game became more popular and more people came the community tilted sideways and got worse and worse. but who knows maybe it wont be so bad…these are different games after all.

  2. Did Titan tonight. I was falling asleep, didn’t know mechanics, just kinda hopped in to do it.
We wiped multiple times, but my group stuck it out. I’m a white mage so, it was rough. But, the group wasn’t toxic at all, which was a huge change from healing in WoW where I would have been berated then probably had the group fall apart. We did beat Titan finally, and while I’m nervous about continuing as a healer, the crew I was with helped alleviate stress in the fight by simply not being toxic. I continue to be impressed by the FF14 community environment. ☺️

  3. I think gatekeeping has a bad rep.
As far as I'm concerned, everyone is welcome BUT Don't tolerate intolerance!I'm new to FF14 (about a week in) from WoW since launch (but left before Shadowland) and I have been pushed out of many of my hobbies after welcoming the wrong people and becoming "problematic" because I was from the "old guard" (D&D, Comics, etc…). The way I see it: Everyone is welcome, but not everything is for everyone.

  4. I don’t feel “threatened” but the fact that the complaining for your community called for the lore breaking male viera was what led me to lose all interest in the game. Fortnite and apex as examples were ruined as well from small groups of people begging for stuff that ruined the games, and while this isn’t game breaking I’m sure the day will come in the near future where begging for stuff will lead to FFXIV heading the same direction. Just came to point that out after a friend mentioned the video.

  5. I played WoW for 13 Years and it is sad… im playing ff 14 for a half year now and i am culture shocked. I forgot how nice a community can be.

Pls give all WoW Refugees a chance and a warm welcome 🙂

  6. The MMO master race has arrived!
FF14 toons with grow to love our ganking, griefing and all around toxicity!
There will be some changes thought…lets start with a small one.
We would like to ban the use of roman numerals, so from now on to be polite to your future leaders please use FF14.
May WOW die a horrible death!
See ya soon and have a GREAT day!

  7. I'm worried because I started FF14 earlier this year and its been such a balm from the bad part of the community of WoW. I really really really really really really hope that my fellow WoW refugees coming over during this storm remember to leave their attitude at the door.

I can't tell you how much this game has revived my faith in the online community and I'm not saying its going to be a toxic influx, I just genuinely hope we remember to check out attitudes at the door

  8. A friend of mine was talking about FFXIV a while back and I was like, "meh". Then I saw Jesse Cox video with the comparison and was like, "okay, you have my curiosity." Then I found this channel and now I'm like, "You have my attention." Soon as I get stuff installed I'm jumping in!

  9. How long have you had that beautiful PRS? I saw one in my local guitar store the other day with that same finish and it's already been sold. That color has been really popular for them this year.

  10. I'm also a WoW refugee, although I have been playing FF on and off during wow content draughts since vanilla ffxiv (I actually have the CE items on my account from the pre-RR era). The toxicity and change in community is one of the main reasons I was done with trying to find the good in the wreckage WoW has become. I felt on top of the world because people were surprised I was genuinely nice to them, which set off way too many red flags looking back at it.

  11. I think you'd be surprised how friendly the Wow community actually is if brand new players had a universal symbol next to their name, letting everyone know they are new.
Really smart move by SE. I've seen numerous toxic encounters turn immediately to friendliness and encouragement once the player making the mistakes, finally gets the courage to say they are new or haven't done it before.

  12. I realize this is from 2 weeks ago, but I'm thinking of getting the game, but when I look at the Steam options for FFXIV, there''s like, 4 or 5 versions of it. Which do I get to play the whole thing all the way through? I've heard it takes forever to get through Enix or whatever the game creators company name is. If that's not true, again, which one to get, or do I need to get a basic game and then pay a ton of money for all the DLC's?

  13. I’ve played WoW since vanilla when I was like 7 or something. I started playing WoW classic with my wife who (finally) agreed to give games a chance! 😭😭😭 she has never played anything and it was a steep learning curve and we went very slow as two NE Druids. We got to lvl 29 (a huge accomplishment in classic as far as I’m concerned! GJ babe!) until life got in the way. It’s been 6 months or so and we were about to start it back up but then with everything going on with WoW we both said “hey let’s try a new game so we can both learn!” We’re level 11 right now playing together! I still have a lot of translatable knowledge but it is more equal now where we are both learning! It’s been so fun and We’re both loving it!!

  14. It was really ironic when that person on twitter was trying to organise a hate mob to ruin asmongold's experience to keep him from the game because "he and his kind of toxicity has no place in the game".

After that I watched his stream backlog of the game and he was super chill and was really enjoying the game.

  15. Funny how I pre-empted all of this. Had been a WoW player since 2005… Left for FF14 with the release of Stormblood, preached to my WoW friends about how much better it was n they didn't believe me lol… It's funny tbf cause this also happened with Covid, I started wearing a mask before it even reached the UK and my family and friends said I was overreacting… Swear it's like I have a 6th sense for these things.

  16. I stopped playing ffxiv 3 times because of the toxicity. I guess I’ve had bad luck because I get it a couple times a week, I want to get back into it but I I’m tired of it I find myself not talking in chat at all and it sucks talking to people was fun

  17. Started playing FFXIV the last week or so and last night there were three people chilling in Gridania giving tips and tricks on the game, they helped me navigate a few things in the game much quicker than I would have been able to do alone. In the end they also gave me 100k gold, I was baffled and so honored. They were really cool people doing it because they wanted people to enjoy their time playing, that kind of stuff just never happened to me in WoW.
