  1. I honestly agree. In the end, everything played out “well”, but I honestly believe you cannot aid someone who doesn’t want to be helped in the first place. Perhaps after a few decades in the cold, and most of the not so narrow minded among their people had fled or made a new home, the ones stuck in the past, and bound by their pride, will see how stupid their mentality is. That, or they’ll die, a happy ending nonetheless.

  2. Many people playing the game don't really know Garlemald's history even though they've talked about it all throughout the story. To them, they are just the big bag enemy threatening war and violence. In reality, life is rarely so simple or cut and dry. For example, Varis wasn't lying when he mentioned how people confuse reclamation with invasion because the Garleans were repeatedly pushed out of their lands further and further north by stronger clans who could wield magicks against them and it wasn't until the discovery of ceruleum and the creation of the first magitek that things started to turn around for them and they started reclaiming the lands they lost. You also have to realize that these things happened in the life-span of Solus zos Galvus so the Empire itself is fairly young with the older individuals possibly remembering what things were like BEFORE the Empire and the younger people being wary of magick users while still having insanely high national pride. The fact that they've constantly been at war in one place or another means that the war time propaganda never stops hence the radios that broadcast it constantly which just further indoctrinates the masses to their way of seeing the world.

  3. Glad to see your enjoying the story. yeah, Garlemald was 6 ways to fucked up. Like… jesus. then the Twins, who -are teenagers-, mind you, have to deal with the aftermath of witnessing all this. It's fucking dark.
