Happy new year mr happy!
Happy New Year my fellow Eorzians.
Si, Gridania
My static started on coils then recently finished Alex savage as min item level and has been super fun.I think this is good practice for ultimates but doing old content with lvl90 skills would make it super easy compared to min item lvl synced.
could you do this in a ultimate
I'm just trying to do the normal Deltascape raids. The queue time is so long, and no luck with party finder.
This video is truthfully well timed. I've been listening to Ultima music thinking about getting back into ffxiv and with ultimate coming back in I'm thinking of trying some raids again. Liked before even watching the video!
I joined a Min-ilevel No-Echo discord a while back after a friend of mine was doing MINE through Coils and into Alexander, and it sounded super fun but super tough. Plus, I joined in late Stormblood, which means half of the raids (and extremes) I've never gotten a chance to do on-content, which would make it so much more fun to try and do them again.
Happy you're a genius!
What I want to see implemented in the game is some kind of content-preservation mode, a checkbox that reverts values back to how they were when the content was new. It'd be difficult with the inclusion of new jobs but I think overcoming that is worth it.
I really don't understand why the subset of people that want to do old content synced is so small… for me it's something I've wanted since probably the day I finished ARR back in Shadowbringers. Although I wasn't aware of the method you mentioned here! I will definitely try to find a group to do all the old raids like this.
It would be cool if they did something like their unreal for extremes but with different raid tiers. I just ventured into a Eden Sepulture farm today. And was like man this would of been cool to do when it was current.
Happy new year Mr. Happy 🎉
Wishing you a year of happiness, joy and love 💖 😄/
that's a very smart idea
I think it would be pretty cool if they figured out a way to limit our max DPS (on a curve, according to actual current job level, perhaps) in sub-levelcap sync'd content while keeping our full kits intact (or at least our dps actions, having access to mit/invuln/heals/raises before you're meant to have them might not be a great thing in content that wasn't designed for it), so we don't have to try to remember how to play our jobs with half our buttons missing. I'm not sure how more hardcore players than myself would feel with being effectively "nerfed" with the tradeoff of having access to all their buttons, but I'd take it any day of the week.
This was a very interesting video. Thanks for sharing and all your hard work!
If SE does anything I would imagine it would be something general that applies to the entire game (however unlikely that would be). As a player, it really sucks to level sync and lose all the new abilities you recently got. I have no idea how they could balance it but it would be awesome to just keep all of my skills and use them anywhere instead of only in a tiny part of the new expansion.
Tbh, I think most people will just go & do it synced (min ilvl & no echo) if they really want to do the old raids. I don't see the appeal (other than the fact that you get to be level 90).
The feature Square Enix would have to implement isn't that complicated. Just allow "Min-ilvl sync" checkbox to work independently of "Level Sync" checkbox. Even if that still makes the content "a little too easy" thats still more than enough for most, and higher-end "challengemode people" can then start dropping accessories/take worse-than-minilvl gear into those, but atleast that'd give some sort of gearsyncing without taking away our lv90 abilities we've grown to love and hate on.
I think they should rebalance one fight at a time and use it for a tombstone event.
Comment bump for algorithm. Thx Haps and co. for making this public, I'd love to run the old raids I missed during long breaks, while not losing our cool lv 90 skills, otherwise old rotations feel boring.
Hope more groups and eventually SE can take notice and implement something nice for older content to give more incentive to sub.
is the stat difference relative to pre-post squish really that much of a difference if you just use gear that is the right ilvl and/or the ACTUAL gear that was used during the time that content was new? Like i understand its not going to be exact but shouldn't it still be close enough to not really notice?
The other problem that SE would have to solve (and also that you likely encounter when doing these types of gearing to simulate) is handling jobs that want any sort of spellspeed/skillspeed builds. It's already bad enough in such that Unreal in Shadowbringers forced BLM onto a near-unplayable spellspeed unless you were doing some really bizarre line.
I know you mentioned how difficult it was for Coils, but I recall Team Culul doing just this. I think they had level *five* gear at level 90 to meet the stat differences. They were doing that challenge while waiting for DSR, IIRC.
Man I can't even complete omega fights unsync at level 90 with a full party, so I applaud those who would want to take this challenge
This is super cool!
I think a very low effort version of this that square could implement is a "manual ilvl sync" attached to the undersized party feature. If you know the ilvl you wanna play as for the challenge in older content, you can always set the ilvl sync down up to the max ilvl of the previous expansion. This feels like an easy system to update that gives players the flexibility to tune the difficulty of older content while keeping new content unchanged and helping account for added jobs.
Calibrating stats for coil sounds like a pain. I wonder if there is a simpler way, like checking dps and healing parses from back then and reverse engineering from there?
Hi Haps! Small and hopfully not an annoying question to you but:
Do you upload your runs of these somewhere to watch? I'd be highly interested to see it more in action! Thanks in advance!
6:55 I imagine it would be the same as Unreal. Would have to rebalance for every single expansion
This is how i wish the game would work if you checked both unrestricted party and Min Ilvl (without checking level sync)
Interesting thoughts, thanks for making the video
If they cant devote the resources to balance it themselves a nice alternative would be to add more options to the duty finder setting we can mess with as players. As a start they could add seperate level sync and ilvl sync that we can set to any value we want instead of being forced to just sync to the content's original level and minimum ilvl. They could also give us some control over the values echo modifies (Max HP, Damage and Healing) to nerf ourselves with negative echo even allowing the 3 to be set independantly for the experience you want doing old content.
