i really love ishgard and heavensward so i usually have my wind up hraesvelgr out. it’s just very special to me, in a weird sort of way. if not that then my fat cat, bcs it was given to me as a gift!
my favorite minion is the byakko cub purely because he looks like he's my hrothgar's son
Mine is the Shoebill. I got it around the time I was disappointed in my ability to be a competent healer in FFXIV. Not only were my teams wiping, it would happen three or more times. I felt so inadequate as a healer, I was planning on quitting the game. However, after watching some op gameplay of black mage on YouTube, I decided to give it a try, and was happy to see myself finally enjoying the game again (and not having to worry about others besides myself). It was during this time that I asked myself what a black mage's minion would be, and what first came to mind was the cold stare of the shoebill. Not only has my shoebill been with me since I started playing black mage, it's been with me as I leveled all my jobs to 80. So it no longer feels like "my black mage minion", it literally feels like a friend who's been by my character's side since finding her new self.
For me Red/Lesser Panda and Alpha are fighting for the #1 spot
It's a basic minion, but it will always be Nutkin for me. I got it long ago after my first ever PotD run when I was a wee sprout on the first week of my journey, and he's been with me on my journey ever since.
I've only used the red panda since I got it ❤️❤️

Baby Opo Opo is to me the happiest minion, makes me smile.
The Bom Boko minion's name is a reference to the film "Pom Poko". The leaf, the transformations, and yes, the testicles, are all things from tanuki folklore.

I never see her in any lists but wind up succubus is my personal #1. She's really cute and is the kind that rests on your shoulder.
