Stop Playing Final Fantasy 14!

Final Fantasy XIV is TOO popular now, and Square-Enix has stopped selling and advertising the game for the time being. This after many World of Warcraft players jumped ship to FF14 over the summer. It’s pretty crazy to think that this game was considered a failure when it was released over 10 years ago.

  1. FF14's not a good game in my eye. To each their own, but I personally think it's a rather terrible game overall. I stopped playing at the start of stormblood when I just got absolutely tired of the railroading and boring pointless and predictable plotlines.

I seriously do not understand the fascination with the game. Wow is hurting sure, and not doing great, but I'd never play FF14.

  2. FFXIV is a jewel.

In the gaming industry where it's become normal for botched releases and the predatory practice pf intitial $60 plus $1000s of microtransactions to follow after.

The community is the warmest ive ever experienced in any MMO and MMOs are my thing. I broughy my friends into FF14 and they were simply blown away how in every dungeon experience was met with patient auto finder random players that were happy to give tips and wait throuth cutscenes. Its a game and community that want to share the goods of the game by fostering new players.

Don't forgetting all the recent activision-blizzard employee culture controversies coming to light in California court.

  3. Just finished Heavensward and had the realization I can’t purchase the game because of all the success

Guess the gold saucer, Grand Company, class leveling, that one book with dungeons and food stickers, daily roulettes, challenge logs, beast quests, and who knows what else will get my attention lol (definitely not a lack of things to do! Just wish I wasn’t dumping extra gold in the trash past 300k)

  4. The secondary markets are where the money is at, not online games with host servers, as they drain a LOT of the profit away. Yoshi-P is also directing the development of FFXVI as well, which is a single player game. FFXIV did not grow out of WoW failure, it grew out of not losing players over the last three years because people enjoy playing it. Asmond and the rest of the copium addicts may or may not stick around, as they follow their Twitch viewership money. SquareEnix spent its money wisely on Twitch, and THAT created the sudden migration at a perfect time, and WoW's failure for years has just made such a stark contrast to the game, everyone tries to link them. This is also why July 2021 started the server strain, not November 2021 when the new expansion was about to release.

  5. LOL So dumb. They will still make singer player. Even though sales are high, the amount of money that it takes to keep servers and and everything running is astronomical. If there's a dip in users at any point it will be felt.

  6. I have tried FFXIV a couple of times now. Couldnt get past the early levels as it felt very chore-ish rather than like I was playing an adventure game. Sounds like it must get much better later on.

  7. >no one mentions SWTOR coming to steam and booming like a fresh new game again

Everyone cries and whines they can’t get Star Wars content that isn’t Disney shit but it’s literally right in front of you and you aren’t taking it, peeps and those that are don’t talk about it

  8. the two biggest factors that have caused wows ruin, they don't deliver any new content, every expansion feels the same, acts the same and they don't even give the classes new abilites like ff14 does. they refuse to add new classes or races, ff14 still does with every expansion. wow hasn't added a new classes since legion two expansions ago and the death knight two expansions before that. on top of all that ff14 leans heavily on their lore to make sure everything makes sense. blizzard released a series of books detailing all the lore, and then threw it all out saying much of it wasn't true at all.

  9. Even though FF14 is an mmo, unlike most mmos, its story is at the forefront of the experience. You can play the game and enjoy its vast and engaging story almost entirely solo. It's a RPG first and a mmo second. So, as a fellow gamer who prefers single-player games I can assure you, the story is very much worth playing. Give it another shot!

  10. 7:20 – I highly doubt the success of online FF games will kill replace the single player offline stuff. Online games require continual upkeep (financial, technical, creative) and in the last few years SQEX released FF14 to negative reviews, remade FF14 to very positive praise, shut down FF11 (despite still having a decent player base) and now can't handle the stresses of FF14's player base. I doubt SQEX is able (or willing) to migrate its business plan to predominantly online gaming.

That said, I agree that Final Fantasy 12 is awesome – especially Zodiac Age.

  11. Maybe the players won't stolen, maybe they just quit playing wow. You can't still players when they're not playing your game. If I remember correctly, Final Fantasy 14 does not have a paid subscription to access the game, unlike wow. That would be my biggest motivation for Final Fantasy 14.
