Good god I hope Mikoto does not join the main cast, definitely a weak spot of an overall solid Bozja storyline.
I saw that Towelliee was in this video so I had to click and watch. Good video too.
I'm so stoked for Lost Ark đ€Ș
I haven't watched state of the realm for quite a while now but what's with Fox's mic setting. It feels like it's muting the tone so much that it feels very unnatural compared to Happy's mic. It's really jarring.
There is one exception to the general chat…. crossroads in barrens… only thing in there was chuck norris….
100% on the glamour system. It needs to be like WoW where you just have everything in one window, I'd rather go to a city to transmog my stuff, it's sooooo annoying to have all the gear pieces in my inventory just to glamour them… I think they do that on purpose to try and get you to buy more retainers, which… They can screw off with that and I don't wanna hear "I've been playing for this long and haven't filled up my retainers…." Well, good for bleeping you, I go absolutely crazy with transmog / glamour and love the armor in FFXIV. Everything else is great though, well… PvP could be better still
I like jumping in for a couple matches of frontlines each day and big props to the people on the Revival Wings discord for organising the Saturday matches on the Light DC – it's a lot of fun (at least to me).
However, I feel there is a general lack of support / motivation from the developer themselves. Sure, they'll do some job balancing every few patches, but for the most part they leave PVP well alone. Which is a shame, it's nice having alternative things to do in between patches.
Case in point, Astragalos – it's still there in the duty finder but has been "temporarily unavailable" for more than 2 years now (patch 4.55). Why they can't just add this and Hidden Gorge into the Frontline roulette I don't know.
Hopefully we will see some improvement with this smaller scale mode they are bringing in – 72 person matches is a lot (I'm not sure why they removed the old 8v8v8) – I only play peak hours so have around 5 minute queues, trying to get a match outside peak though is difficult.
Can't wait for the Moogle Treasure Trove!
Personally, I like the FF14 glam system – and I come from both WoW and GW2. I like that you can easily get the glam prisms (though I know it was more complicated in the past) and I love the glamour plates. However, I would like more of these preset plates! We only have 15! And we have 17, soon 19 different jobs, PLUS the crafter and gatherer jobs. Add to that the 400 slot limit of your glamour dresser… Yes, that my pain. You can hire more retainers but thats no solution because you have to run to and fro from dresse to bell, to retainer and dresser again and again and again. If they would update that, I'd have no quarrels whatsoever – even the fact that you can only apply those plates when you are in a city isnt as bad IF these solve that issue: more glam-plates (at the very least 30) and no limit for the glam dresser. I suppose its not so easy to implement but even WoW managed to establish a decent glam system aka transmog while the game was already 10 (?) years old.
Yes, you level fast in WoW – without any idea of whats going on. There are these two factions and they dont like each other. And thats it. You dont need to pay attention to the story (in fact, you also need to pay attention to the story in FF14…), and the game is designed in a way that makes a mockery of the lore (and which was the reason for me to quit in the end). You might get to max level and then raiding fast, but dont try and understand why the hell you are now fighting in WoW's version of hell. Not unless you're willing to put in several months of investigation and research and reading and compiling. You can watch all Nobbel videos but even that is only a fraction of what there is… WoW story telling is a poor miserable joke. If you dont care about that, good, because you wont get any.
Like this Podast! but maaan . slythefox should rly check his Mic Settings. Way to much Compressing is going on there and he is rly quiet in some way.
In the EU servers the Novice Network is definitely helpful, at least on the couple of servers I've been in. Some Mentors even try to moderate off-topic discussions. So your experience might be very NA specific.
It's funny hearing Urianger berated so much by people who are basically Urianger themselves.
Almost all of us are just as passionate about OUR hobbies – like FFXIV – as Urianger is about his research. And, when we talk about our stuff, people not in the know look at us the same way you look at Urianger.
Edit: Trust me – Canada's happy to be seen separate from the US đ
Damn it happy, we want harder normal dungeons, please stop saying we don't!!
Amazing episode of state of the realm.
I tried wow retail before final fantasy and I didnât know what to do or where to go , tried final fantasy now Iâm 80 hours in
Lost my mentor status in ff14 when they upped the comms requirement. I actually enjoyed helping people and have run across so many bad mentors. Sadly as a dps main, I will never get the comms I need to get it back. You can rez a whole alliance raid and save it from wiping and you still get no love. I do barely anything special as a tank or healer and get comms. Feels more like a popularity contest than an award for being caring or good.
Pvp in mmo has always been trash. Anyone who says they love pvp in an mmo they like to suffer. Never once have I played a pvp mode in mmo and thought yeah this was fun! The latency that either made me die or lose a kill was totally amazing! Itâs like playing a fg with delay based netcode but you have done offline. I know what is good and sorry Iâm not gonna waste my time on a laggy piece of content that will always be laggy unless they find a solution for ppl with ass internet
Why does Sly sounds like he is underwater all the time?
Mythic+ is a system that has done a lot of damage to WoW as a whole. It was a decent concept but segmented the playerbase way too much. At this point It essentially is a speed run system in dungeons.
I'm very glad to see FFXIV isn't doing a similar system. That said I do think we could use harder dungeons but they shouldn't split the difficulties more than a couple.
Towelliee looks like John Goodman's character from the Big Lebowski lol wow…
The 8th unbral calamity is gona happen, and its being caused with the flood of WoW, servers are being flooded
PvP. I think FF is taking the wrong approach to it. Everything is always about the rewards, ranks, and prestige of PvP. Or an interesting game mode. I think the one thing that will fix FFXIV PvP is STORY. Add the RPG to the story⊠a reason why to grind it. A reason to progress the PVP story. Bozja could have been a PVP skirmish zone, and God Save the Queen could have been a PVP story. Wouldnât that make PVP so much more interesting for the player base? More so than a mount and glam gear? People will do it just for the story, and if they enjoy it can progress to the non-story competitive side to it.
As crappy as the mentor system can get with some awful people, I like the intent, and I try to be helpful. The thing I absolutely don't like is the mentor roulette has extreme trials in it. I don't do extreme raids, so now I'm locked out of the roulette, locked out of the ability to help people, because of something that has no bearing on my ability to help new players.
Part of why they don't really focus on PvP is that FF XIV, really at its core is not a competitive game where the players are each others antagonists, and I feel very much like that actually helps to make the community in FF XIV a better one, because we don't have idiots shouting "FOR THE HORDE!" or "FOR THE ALLIANCE!" at events, pitting the players and fans against each other in some tribal bullshit, as a core ideal of the game.
Maybe, just maybe, not all games need or should have PvP, there are so many other games out there to PvP in, where those who enjoy that sort of relationship with other players can go, like League of Legends, or DOTA or WoW, or ESO, or GW2, etc. Just like not all games need PvE content, or Housing, or crafting, etc.
I'd love to see them do some work on PvP and get people invested, and have fun, but, I am 100% not willing to trade the behavior and community that a larger focus on player antagonism it will bring to bring that sort of focus. If there was a way to do PvP and celebrate it, without setting people in silly tribalism that all too often happens, I just don't see it happening, especially on NA server communities.
The Lodestone, what is that!?
gotta disagree on wow being that easy for new players. i tried it before i started ffxiv, and again after i learned basic mmo stuff from ffxiv. both times i was completely lost, both in not knowing what my overall objective should be, and literally lost trying to navigate. yeah u get the little tutorial at the beginning that tells you to use your 2 spells, but thats kind of it. what i now realize i prefer in xiv is having clear objectives, with straightforward clear navigation, and the delineations between quests. u got your msq, the unlocks, and random sidequests. and a handy reminder at the top left for your msq and job quests.
FIX PVP
AUTOMATICALLY GET 50% OF WOW PLAYERBASE.
FIX WEBSITE.
AUTOMATICALLY GET 1000000X MORE PEOPLE.
Omg Mr Happy, when you mentioned the political stuff in chat, I screamed. Yeah Shout Chat in GW2 and SWTOR in 2008 were a MESS LMAO.
Im so glad FFXIV doesn't have a permanent shout chat
I would hate to see m+ in FFXIV. I feel like it's one of the systems that ruined wow. Fucking hate it.
