  1. I actually really like the last boss from Xelphatol. It's extremely cool for fans of older Final Fantasies because that is how summons worked. You select the summon in your menu, and they come out to do a big move for a lot of damage. Which if you stood in the AoEs at least on release tore a good chunk out of your HP.

  2. "Nidhog is the easiest name to pronounce in all of Final Fantasy"

Is this a bad time to mention you two, and even the English voice actors for FF14, have been pronouncing Nidhoggs name wrong this entire time

  3. As weird as it sounds when I think about it, the bosses in the anti tower made perfect sense to me. If Matoya wanted to protect the place, she made familiar/protectors out of easily accessible things. A little more magic in a porrogo, spriggan, and she found an old creepy doll in a trunk somewhere? Eh, that’ll work. Lol

  4. Loving you guys for making my Wednesdays better with these videos.
    Just wanted to add.
Hrvesvalgr isn't a made up name by square. It's the name of the eagle in Norse mythology that watched over nidhogg on the world tree. Also there's a mouse on that same world tree called ratatoskr, the sister that had her eyes eaten by thordan. So all 3 of those dragon names were plucked straight from Norse mythology

  5. Guys, if you don't wanna get Xelphatol, don't do the 50/60/70/80 Roulette. It's that simple. Personally, I'd kill to get Xelphatol over the constant runs of Amdapor Keep Normal and Hard.

  6. Ahhh I LOOOOVE Baelsar's Wall. One of my absolute favourite dungeons, the flow, music, final boss, all superb. The dungeon design gets significantly better from SB onwards, I used to really enjoy a lot of the pre SB dungeons but pretty much all of them seem a bit of a chore now. Not just because the dungeons feel far better designed but your available powers really round the jobs out and pre 70/80 now just feels restricted.

Can't wait to see your tier lists for future expac dungeons πŸ‘!

  7. I wish I'd get Xelphatol from time to time. It was always a bit disappointing, even back when it came out, because it's just scaled way too softly so even with bad gear it doesn't hurt at all if you ignore mechanics, and the lack of proper Garuda at the end was like…wait, that's it???
But I liked the Zelda-esque minibosses, like popping the balloon and the giant fan, and with the Ixali being the only beast tribe I voluntarily did in ARR, I've always really liked them and their lore in general.
Sadly, I only ever get Baelsar's Wall in 50/60/70/80 roulette, which is fine, I don't dislike it, but I just REALLY want to see something else at some point, so Xelphatol is really refreshing when it pops up x)

  8. I was gonna make an orgy joke after you guys said "big banger block" but now I think I've gotta defend Xelphatol a little.

It's a good dungeon, and one I don't mind getting in roulette! The music may not be all that memorable, but the boss battles are different and mechanically unique, and I really dig that about it. I honestly love the first boss the most, where you have to pop his balloon. It's a fun, unique-ass mechanic to figure out on your first run. I really dig it.

Same goes for the second boss. Unique mechanics concerning his fan-axe and getting knocked back into the fence / spikes depending on where you're standing at that moment. It feels really great to get that mechanic right.

Also, on the note of Garuda, she is worshipped by the bird men, the Ixal. The the fact that she is summoned, albeit briefly, by the last boss makes sense. Especially if you look at him under the lens of a Summoner, seeing as that's their whole deal. So, essentially this guy is a Tribes version of the Summoner class, and I think that's cool.

The balloons you gotta wait for if you don't move fast enough though? Yeah, those kinda suck.

  9. One thing i would like to add, Primogenitor and Apologies are very emotionally appropriate to their characters/bosses. Primogenitor is Midgardsomr's theme in the game and for me at least provided a great sense of time, sadness and bits of rage with how it goes from light and slow to very heavy and nearly disjointed in the piano work. Apologies for Hreasvalgr also just seems to encapsulates their grief over the loss that has occur to them, from Shiva due to age, Ratatoskr to betrayal from the Ishgardians, and Niddhogg to rage. So many of the dragons have such tragic stories.

  10. i personally really like Xelpathol, its the capital city of the ixal, and we are basically invading them, the fact that its on a mountain top, and you see all the structures and war machines they build (even in the far distance you can see buildings and stuff) it makes the dungeon feel really grand, add on top of that that we are trying to prevent the summoning of Garuda puts an urgency on it as wwewll

  11. Oh yeah, Always look out for Blue Quests, specially later when they are key to unlocking flying in each zone. And as for Music, the Boss Battle music in Shadowbringers is my fav. That and of Course The Twinning.
