ABCs of melee DPS
A – Always
B – Be
C – Copying your rotation from The Balance discord
With the exception of samurai melee dps just don’t bring the dps to warrant playing them. Casters do just as much if not more dps and have to deal with half the shit melee do. Excluding samurai there needs to be more reward.
Hey quick question, when you're a melee like samurai and pop bloodbath before putting your dot while buffed by everything imaginable on the boss does it act as a Regen on you whenever it ticks?
you are a cool guy 🙂
I can see the flaming wreckage of the "So you just boosted" video comment section already and the video doesn't even exist yet.
But really solid video and I'm glad you mentioned Bloodbath or other self healing options. Sometimes these skills can actually go hand in hand with Greeding. And, heck, if you know you're gonna get hit by a roomwide or targeted attack anyway you might as well make the healers life a little easier.
holy heck, i've been playing since launch and never noticed the empty part of the circle donating 'rear'.
Whenever they get around to giving me Rune Fencer; I'll be trying this playstyle out. (unless its a tank)
The two dislikes are people who don't know true north exist.
Wait what what?! A complete circle around an enemy means the positionals don't matter???
Im just waiting for Viking job, dual weild 1h axes using their own health to boost there dmg for a period of time
Thank you for these! I'm busily sharing with new players in our FC. Perfect!
So you boosted a character sounds the most interesting because I’ve seen a flood of them recently and really I just want people to know how to play the game and then they can consume it in whatever fashion they so desire.
Legendary costs are too high and made me quit the game for good (combined to the other annoyances). I should spend at least 40€ in tokens to upgrade 3 legendries (need more, but they are the basic ones I need for each spec).
Can you please Happy give one Utility to SAM please? Like… Summon a second sword for 15 secs buff damage. 🤣✌️😊
At this point i’ll take any Mr Happy guides 🤣
Just started levelling a lancer after playing casters and healers in ARR. The freedom of movement is nice for dodging big attacks, but 1 thing I find SUPER ANNOYING is that my skills can miss!
Probably shoulda mentioned that your melee vs video has outdated monk info
Lalas look ridiculous. Nothing can change my mind on that.
I have zero experience with MMOs and started as melee is just a pain. Luckily as you said, in the low level, missing positional do not hurt that much(in dragoon case cus monk still very bad) which is why I can improve day by day without giving up. And I feel like to play a melee job to its maximum, either using controller or both hands on keyboard cus so many buttons to press.
I was hoping this to give a shout-out to the melee optimization guide by momo :p
This isnt a good guide. You are encouraging reckless dps. Which is a waste just to flirt with death
I'm not completely new (I've been playing for about 4 months now) but still learned a few new things. I enjoy these videos!
A pity that you can't see where the flank ends on the enemy ring.
Also, having lines going from those thresholds towards the center of the enemy would be useful for bigger enemies.
True North: the role action you learn to value the most is also the most frustrating one. There just never seem to be enough charges to keep up with all the spinning and hopping bosses tend to do in 8 man content, especially if you have lazy tanks. T_T
Melee DPS seems like it's too hard for too little reward. The rotations are so needlessly complicated, on top of the melee mechanics tax.
I really find it hard to survive in open world to be honest. Fates are tricky, story instances are a chore.
Prefer ranged dps, healers and tanks much more
Uptime is important not only because you will be in range to use your skills, but also because you'll be able hit with your auto attack. Auto attacks count for a considerably large portion of your damage if you are playing any job that has them.
Dead dps do 0 damage.
Oh happy. You didn't cover proper LB usage… There's so much wasted damage these days…
