  1. Your video is a breath of fresh air, Brian. I cleared Endwalker, then deleted the character I cleared it with as I was not interested in it. I have two characters now, one which is gathering all of the relic weapons, and one just going through the new 2.0 dungeons, and once I get the PS4 platinum, I will probably unsub for an indefinite amount of time. I already got the PS5 platinum for this game and once I get the PS4 platinum, I will be done. This is a fun game but the housing is not as easy to get as in Wizard101, and when one game element in your game is worse than a much sub-par MMO's, you know that you have problems. (In Wizard101 you can have up to three houses unless you use a potion to get another one, and even then you can have a maximum of ten.) My characters here are basically homeless(my deleted character did get a room in the FC house though) and I'm playing Pokemon again and enjoying it more than FFXIV because you feel some sense of progression by completing a Living Pokedex and catching all the Pokemon instead of just going through the story motions. I even skip cutscenes now in FFXIV because I've seen them all before.

I might dabble in Crystalline Conflict since I need to enter a PvP match to get a trophy for the PS4 list but other than that… meh. I haven't logged in for weeks since I play so much Pokemon and even on those games I have been focused on Pokemon Shining Pearl, just beat Cynthia. 😉

Probably will unsub for a long time, maybe indefinitely, unless Yoshida reveals Island Sanctuary in patch 6.2 and we find out what that's about. 🙁

  2. Im out of space and I wont be back until they add more. Im max crafter on everything with all possible retainers and ive whittled down as much as I can so whenever they decide to fix the dresser space I will be back. With no way to mail to alts its a trainwreck (and I will never understand their position on that). Their love affair with having items for literally everything (even dyes) is just such a HUGE pitfall of this game. Spending hours sorting through retainers just to have bag space before I can even play sucks so badly. It feels futile and overwhelming and I usually log out within an hour of remembering how cumbersome it is. So I took a break and actually installed an old game called Riders of Icarus since I never tried it but always wanted to. Its been really fun despite low population…its like having a private server lol. Wish FF had something like the taming that would be amazing…but knowing them they would make me put all the familiars in my bags or buy special familiar retainers roflmao.

  3. I've found it nice to use the opportunity to chase difficult or lengthy achievements, although it's even better to take a break to make sure you feel like playing for the next content cycle.

I'd really wish the housing system was more like ESO though. I just went with one of those little apartments so I don't have to deal with demolition or even FC shenanigans.

  4. It's scary how many times I've totally been there and I've been on FFXIV for about 8 years myself as well. I really do miss the days when I could go on a full 6-month unsub and my house would still be there. Though I understand fully why that's not the case now lol. However, even long before Stomblood's housing change, my house still played a factor in whether I wanted to move servers or not. Friends would move servers and ask me to join them, and my first thought was "But…my house D:" lol. At this point, I think I'd be really happy if they'd at least allow us to transfer ownership to a roommate…well if that's even possible.

  5. I've been playing other games and watching Asmongolds court tv lol. I've been logging in FF14 once a week for a quick frontlines daily, check my retainers and cactpot.

  6. Yeah, definitely EW's emotional rollercoster and epic wrap up was as incredibly gratifying but burned me down to a crisp.

And I didn't even realize how burned out I was until a couple months later when the release of 6.1 didn't hold as much of a shine as I thought it would be and I found myself twiddling my thumbs.

The New Adventure is starting slowly and although the Raids and the Alliance Raids are fun I don't feel as invested in the story as I felt from 2.0 all up to 6.0.

I've been trying to get back into it but the features I been waiting for have been dragged out a lot (Data Center Travel and Island Sanctuary) so I'm currently just playing other games.

Hope things pick up tho, I'm looking forward to what else YoshiP and his tram can come up with.

  7. I mean, it’s the same old post expansion burn out. I’ve been playing since 2.0, and I still have lots of stuff to do if i so wish to do, and I’m not even going to bring my alt in another DC. But more importantly, you can always unsub, play other games, come back months later, and you’ll have no problems whatsoever in continuing with the msq or anything else.

There’s literally an ocean of other games out there, why limit yourself to just one game?

  8. Im not even done with current MSQ. I dont know why I did not take a break because I did not enjoy Endwalker like previous expansions and felt burned out through it. Last time I took a year break and when I came back was like playing for the first time again.

  9. I'm used to these patch cycles having been around since 3.0, usually I'm doing something else in the game, trying to accomplish other goals I have in the game. I took a nice hiatus in Stormblood, about a month, but since then I've been active doing all of the content that interests me which has been working out well, however I'm awfully close to finishing everything that interests me so I've been playing a lot more chill, doing weekly's, a bit of Eureka (some of the last content I really wanted to tackle) and focusing more on other games like Guild Wars 2, console games like Xenoblade and have been content playing at a chill pace. (I also have a house, soo…)

We're at a chill point in the story, the characters in game often tell us to take it to easy especially at the end of content storylines and I'm sure it's a subtle nod from the devs for us to rest as well. I'm excited for what's to come but I think it's healthy to focus on other things which I'm grateful FF14 respects our time to allow for that.

  10. When SE eliminated the rewards for staying subbed for long time it sorta ruined the motivation to keep playing for many. I'm on the 6 month sub plan so I don't mind staying subbed but it saddened me when they removed that incentive. I don't own a house though.

  11. I told The FC I'm in See you in Aug. Haven't been back since & I did try to look for the Cross over event with FFXI before I left but couldn't find it so Gave up. Funny how that Event started the Day before My Scription ran out.

  12. I'm kinda burned out but kinda not. I've finished 6.0 but i can't do the latest dungeon due to not having the i-level. So now i'm just levelling all my other jobs. (currently working on WAR, DRK, MNK and DRG that are 40-45. (I think i'll get all jobs to 50-52 and wait for Duty support to hit HW dungeons) i've been dabbling in gathering/crafting too

(Thanks for the lv60 Crafter/Gatherer gear, Zhloe! Pineapple puddings are on me! lol 😛 )

  13. I haven't burnout in a long time. I think the reason is I stop caring about efficiency and when I'm not having fun with something I just stop and come back at a later time.

In other words when i'm doing something just for the reward I stop. If I enjoy doing something and get a reward for doing that, that reward have more value for me.

  14. The housing lock behind the sub is dumb. At least make it 6 months to a year before demolishing a house. That way it won't cost so much to keep the house and people can feel better about unsubbing for a bit.

  15. yeah it's important to recognize burnout and not blame the world for your brain's problems

If you aren't enjoying something you once did:
    you doin it too much
it really is that simple most of the time

Things like depression, whole different topic

  16. I've been subbed since Dec 2013 but I've taken breaks here and there. The longest being around 6 months. I stop before burnout sets in, while I still have plenty of goals unfinished. Then I come back when I miss it a lot. I don't worry about cancelling the sub cause compared to my other hobbies, $21 a month (have a few retainers) is basically nothing and doesn't put a scratch in the overall budget. I'm nowhere near completing my goals and I always play at a pace where that will always be true.

  17. This is why I always have the side game. Whether it has been Destiny 2, WoW, or even Everquest. I literally been playing on Everquest's new TLP server lately for the nostalgia feels. I am literally Raid logging for the most part right now. Occasionally tryin to dip my toes into the RP community. I am just an socially awkward introvert, and some how lead a raid group. 🤷‍♀

Like Yoshi has said, go play other games, we will be here when you want to come back.

  19. I've had burnout a few times with 14 and I just end up playing something else for a while and eventually when I come back there's more content. This time I feel like it's a bit different though because endwalker was the end of the story arc it's in a similar situation to the MCU, they had infinity war and endgame and it felt like a good place to just get off the train, they'd told a story across tons of movies and it felt like a good ending point and they haven't really hooked me into the next MCU saga yet. 14 is in that sort of situation where 6.0 feels like a good point to just get off the train and we haven't enough msq patches yet to get me excited for what's to come, at least not in the same way as it has been up until now.

  20. I dodge fomo like the plague now.. If I ever feel like I HAVE to do something cos of a time constraint.. That usually puts me off.
Cos I used to do it a lot before, but now I only play when I feel it, and recently I started playing FFXIV a bit more seriously again.. When I started last year I did everything up to the end of Stormblood in 3 months. That was quite a bit of playing for me with my time.. And a part of me wanted to be Endwalker ready with everyone else (fomo)..
But after Stormblood, I had to stop cos of work, and have just never gotten back into it again until recently.. Pretty much 5 months off.

    Now playing Shadowbringers. Very slowly.

  21. I did get burnt out on one thing in ARR when trying to save up for a personal house. Ended up with 500 Million gil and they did the price changes to the housing; I haven't really pursued making money like that since ARR. In the end it felt like a worthless endeavor to me, despite other people really enjoying over the billion mark.
