My theory for endwalker is that Zodiark is imprisoned in the moon similar to bahamut and Dalamud. Hydalen is inside the planet/star and the towers are draining her of aether and giving it to Zodiark.

Something that annoyed me a bit about the scene with Fourchenault is how, after him disowning the twins, Kan-E-Senna was basically like "Yeah yeah yeah WHATEVER. Will you at least just stay a while?"
Like… I get it, she's ultimately trying to make SOME sort of connection with Sharlayan, but DUDE…

Something to make that Arenvald scene hit harder: the voice actor is the same guy who voices Ardbert. One a broken hero looking for a new path, and the other completed his mission.
