SHADOWBRINGERS 5.3 WHAT A FINALE ★ FFXIV 1st Playthrough EP50

Quazii tries Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) for the first time in 2021 (Episode 50). Is it better than World of Warcraft (WoW)?

  1. Episode 50. What a great journey it has been since Episode 1 – thanks for all your support. Episode 50 is a long one, 5.3 is proving to be too good – I left most of the important cut scenes unedited (:

  2. One of the things you see after you gain the first crystal and start your journey as the WoL all the way back in ARR is a meteor shower. I just love how they've planted the seeds for events in Shadowbringers almost 8 years in the past and how everything just clicks into place. Truly excellent story telling. <3

  3. Something to note: Elidibus is the youngest member of the Convocation. Hence why he was so small in his Amorutian form. Remember back when you first entered Amorout, they all called you and friends lost children. You are all babies in their eyes 😅

  4. So fun fact, Venat is a name that has shown up previously in FF, specifically she was the principal antagonist of FF12, a godlike being with the motivation of betraying her own kind in order to give humanity freedom, but in doing so siding with the empire in that game… Read into that as you want.

Also a quick rewatch of the earlier scene after anyder, one of the amuarotines mentions how they tried to recruit "the defector", being the 14th and were turned down. We as Azem never put stock in primals, instead choosing collective strength and alliances.

  5. Not to be overly socially conscoius, but Beq Lugg's gender is genderless and they is the proper pronoun. I know it is sometimes difficult to retrain your mind to use they pronouns, but I find that the faeries and Nu Mou as a low-effort environment to practice. It has been rough for me to move from using strictly he/she, as that's all I've known most of my life, but I feel it's worth the effort.

  6. Shadowbringers 5.3: Tear-Bringers. One thing I actually love about FFXIV's "dialogue choices" is they do away with the entire concept of making game-changing decisions, because obviously you can't do that really with MMOS (Yes, I know ESO has done something similar). But the way they write something as simple as two different choices purely for the flavour and emotion of the scene works so damn well.

  7. The ominous music when Yshtola is speaking right before the Gaurdian wakes up is the original 1.0 Mor Dhona music.
Also….Did you click the map and teleport to an aethernet shard?! I never knew you could do that, if indeed that is what happened.
You didn't seem to react to it very much, but I lost my mind when it happened; the form Elidibus takes is the original design of the Warrior of Light from Final Fantasy 1 by Yoshitaka Amano (who later appears in titles like Dissidia) The Meta reference blew me away.
Now you gotta do the Role Quests, and do 5.4 and 5.5, and the rest of Eden, and watch the Endwalker trailer! 😀 I loved your jounrey from start to finish, I'm so glad you came to experience Eorzea!

  8. It seems obvious at this point that the game is pointing towards the Warrior of Light being an Ascian of some sort, or at least Ascian like. As is described in this game, Hydaelyn separated the worlds into the source and 13 shards by striking it. The game also went out of its way to heavily imply, if not outright state, that the Warrior of Light and Ardbert are essentially one being separated into different souls. If that's the case then is it possible that she struck one of the Ascians that summoned her, possibly the one that was sacrificed, to separate them into the different shards and create the Warrior of Light in each?

  9. Isn't it just super funny that G'raha is a Seeker of the Sun? The amount of parallels and details in this game is astounding. So many things are taken into account in the lore, it's incredible.

  10. A thing even missed by most of the comments. If you look at the summoning invocation, you can make out a glyph pattern between the circles, one that closely resembles what you see on the Scion Traveler's Mask. Leading some to believe that it is the Ascian face glyph for Azem.

  11. "I guess rain is a view, too." I laughed.

In their defense, though: Thancred was in the First for five years, and Urianger three. They've been in a night-less, weather-less world for so, so long. We have a tendency to take rain for granted and won't normally sit in it, but for people like them who haven't seen or felt the rain in what must've felt like an eternity, I imagine sitting in the rain and watching a cloudy sky extend over a large lake WOULD be an incredible view.

  12. One thing I haven't seen anyone talk about is of Elidibus when he reverts to his true form of sorts. He was a kid. A kid with the literal weight of the world put on his shoulders from the very beginning. I wept at his death, a poor kid that didn't deserve the fate he got. Remember them all.

  13. Hol up… Hythlodaeus calls you his "new old friend"
Which is also what Zenos calls you…
We found out that Ardert and the WoL were once the same person before the Sundering….
So could this mean that Hythlodaeus and Zenos were once………

  14. You might try to get all the role quests done before Endwalker. It not only gives more backstory to each of the other WoL / WoD in Ardberts party. When you do all 5 you get another quest chain that ties into the waring triads and also ties in to basically the complete beginning of 14 in 1.0 with a specific character. Granted, the ShB trailer already tied back to the 1.0 opening by having the WoL start as an Archer in the cinematic, before changing to Warrior, Dragoon and then Samurai, before becoming Dark Knight, basically the job changes reflect the expansions/ parts of the game.

  15. There are many small things that I think you kinda missed quazii 😡
    1. As someone said before, this boss is FF 1's warrior of light, the dissidia model
    2. The red wyrm is actually bahamut
    3. The ancient that appeared IS emet-selch, tho only his projection
    4. Elidibus have LB4 lol
    5. The other jobs he summoned is Ff4's character reference
    6. Limit breaks elidibus uses is actually the same one we use, LB3 is blm's meteor LB3. LB2 is physical range's, and LB1 is melee's

  16. Ah! You caught that Thancred’s gunblade uses bullets embued with aether in the bag Y’shtola tosses to him! It was one of my favorite little details in that cutscene. Without Ryne, he needs someone new, Y’shtola, to do it for him. That smile from him kind of gives me the feeling of acceptance and moving on from his end. Great mini note of closure on that story thread.
