  1. As an optimised Summoner it does make me cringe when people say the combat is slow…

    Glad asmon understands ❤️
Also I agree with Asmon that the story does help set the tone for interactions, given that the whole environment the game world is set in and the lore includes unity and teamwork.

  2. The 'response time' segment, when it comes to player skills, it's because the effects are animation based. You activate the skill instantly, but you have to wait for the effect to actually occur. Examples of which are Jump, Reprisal, Blackest Night, and Passage of Arms. The effects to not happen until the animation reaches the point where they're meant to activate.
(in Jump's case, if the enemy is close enough to start, but then goes out of range, and you just back off and it 'fails')

  3. I'm lvl 60 astrologian (172ilvl) and i wish gcd was shorter. Maybe it's me or it gets shorter but i see that class in nocturnal sect as 33/28/0 tbc disc and in diurnal sect 23/38/0 tbc holy with a whole card meta with it. I mean the 2min cd for 15sec instacast is great, but it's a pain that with my spell speed that a malefic 2 cast is 1.48sec but i gotta wait another 1sec to recast, when in wow my smite is 1.3sec cast and i can just spam that.

And with wow skill bars you have options: omnibar, bartender, dominos, elvui, and consoleport are major ones

  4. Too funny! Almost done with Realm Reborn… Your reaction was spot on! It almost takes as long to go from 50 to the end of Realm Reborn than levels 1-50. Great video!

  5. Bro, why would you be surprised? Amon is in his heart a hardcore dedicated gamer, nothing he likes more than a good game, which FF14 obviously is. Weeb-style crap is bit offputting but ultimately, the quality and dedication of the developer is what really counts.

  6. As part of MMO community and being part of FFXIV community, the peoples who try to ruins people enjoyment in FFXIV or any other games, are only make bad names to the community. And i am glad Squareenix gave a ban hammer of justice to this action. There is unwritten rule, no matter who he or she are, even Asmongold, are free to enjoy the game without interruption and annoying action at any reason. And that is period.
P.S : people are born as different individuals, has different opinion, not programmed robots or clone, that's why for me, i love ARR, I also know some other liking it as well. But we understand there some people out there might not liking it, but once more, it's normal, it's their personal opinion. I would not forcing my opinion either. In the end, we all know, nothing could be 100% perfect. No games in the world are 100% perfect. All games has Deficiency and advantages of their own.

  7. 13:30 Ok. You had me till you said "Unplayable". That's not just an exaggeration, it's a bit of a lie. Probably shouldn't be saying stuff like this as a content creator, it seems like a scummy tactic to steer people away from games you don't like anymore. I did all of BFA xpac with just DMB, and Recout (damage meters). And did it in mythic, all the way till the end when I just quite BFA out of boredom. Clearly the game is playable without addons, you wouldn't design an unplayable game. Of course moving your abilities enhances the experience though.

  8. Damn I have only used the default UI on WoW and I stopped playing at the end of Legion. Guess I must be a god to make the unplayable playable. But my main is a hunter so there is that. 😛

  9. Funny thing is because of the pandemic we haven't even had seasonal events like we normally do, if they freak out this much I wonder how they'll feel when we return to normal

  10. Hey i'd just want to include that you can definitely change your playstation account that is tied to your ff14 one.
I had the exact same issue as your friend except I just emailed them and asked about it.

They offer 1 free change of account but after that you're screwed! but its definitely possible as I recently did it myself.

  11. I played for about a year on ps3, and yes it's slightly less responsive, but rarely enough to cause a big problem. I still notice the difference playing No Man's Sky on my friend's PS4. It's noticeably less responsive than PC and there's a slight difference between M&K and controller, but not as big a difference.

  12. I have to disagree with you, and agree with Asmond on the psychology of the game. If anyone has played a genuinely PvP focused, retribution and conquest based game for any period of time, and then come over to FFXIV, the overall environment of the story is COMPLETELY different, and your entire mood and outlook on the game is actually a challenge to wrangle with at first. Seriously, you can experience the entire story arch of Emet Selch and disagree with his observation? Jeezus, how stone-hearted are you to not have a few onion-ninjas in the room at the end of that story? That is a repetative theme with different characters all throughout the game. Sure there are just 'evil doods' and brainless monsters to defeat – but you never actually even watch yourself 'killshot' anything either. Empire? He's still alive and ends up helping you out. Even becomes Besties with Estie right? This is completely alien to a WoW player coming over. Trust me.

  13. It's strange that you mentioned that controller isn't instant for you. I wonder if there's a built-in delay on controller commands.
Because for me, in addition to slide casting, I can also input my command for the next GCD when the clock hand is just shy of the number or letter at the top of the hotbar button.

But I haven't paid attention to whether it's instantly executed on instacast spells.

  14. The bit where Rurikhan talked about community managers and how Bliz treats their people is right on. Is it any wonder the game is in the state it is when the people who work on it are treated like shit. As we all know shit rolls downhill, and that means the players end up feeling like no one cares, because chances are it's totally true.

  15. I like how customizable the FF14 UI is, but i REALLY it had addon support. I like changing things around from time to time. Plus, healthbars are just horrible. Plain and simple. Im used to the custom thicker hp bars i use in wow. Thats my biggest gripe w their UI.

  16. I think he's onto something with the story, but maybe it's a combination of things. I think players that are patient enough to want to sit through and read/enjoy the story in general are going to be more forgiving and patient with people making mistakes. I would assume that FFXIV has a higher percentage of story viewers/readers than WoW as a whole, and the net result is a more positive and more forgiving community.

Combine that with the fact that WoW's systems actively punish you for failure by depleting your key and granting less loot for missing the time window in Mythic+, you get a terribly negative experience when trying to clear even basic keys. These two things shape the type of player that stays in your game, in my opinion.

  17. There is a unspoken about segment of the community that gatekeeps for 14 even against veteran players. They exist on the forums, the reddits the social media pages and the youtubes. They exist to shoot down any criticism of the game regardless of validity. And imo they are suffered to exist because the community at large doesnt want to admit parts of 14 are an unoptimized mess. Any QoL change is met with pushback at the very least, and commonly is met with incredibly toxic behavior.

A lot of the community claim they were surprised by how these toxic players acted towards asmondgold but in reality we knew they were there we were simply ok with them keeping to the shadows

  18. It goes further. Even if you're a normal or heroic raider, you're not worth anything. You get unwiped ass recolor of quest blues. Cool mounts? Fuck you. You don't even get all the story cuts eyes. They keep normal and heroic raiding around for one reason. They're a recruitment pool for mythic raiding.

  19. people think FFXIV's website culture shock is rough, PSO2's was a fucking quantum physics course before they finally launched in the West (which was entirely intentional, but still)

Square Enix/Mogstation is a cakewalk compared to 85+% of japanese websites xD

  20. Had to make an entire new psn account and a new square account just because I didn't know my old square account. Then I go to play the game on the new account and I get told I have to buy the game again on the new account to play it. Thankfully it was on sale currently for PS4 so I didn't waste too much money.
