As a 1.0 player, I have to disagree. ARR is an expansion. That said, in reality, it's both because of the unique circumstances of it's creation.
Quit wow in legion. loved the story but could tell the borrowed power bs wa not for me. So i bounced to gw2, did it all. Great game, loved it … but after 2 years got tired how slow content comes, the gemstore bs and everyone looking like a christmass tree. Went to Eso and it was cool, awesome quest system…loved until couldnt take the lag in pvp anymore, not to mention animation canceling and all that jazz…so i left and was pretty much done whit mmos.
Im not a anime guy, so never though to try FF. Just like Savix i thought it was not for me. Boy oh boy was i wrong! Im in awe how majestic this game is, the true bits of a mmo done right, its not perfect, but by far the best version of a mmo that i experienced in 13 year's. truly deserves all the praise it can get
I can understand dismissing ff14 as bland: if you just look at it from the outside, with a limited knowledge of final fantasy as a franchise it does look like "generic anime MMO number 14".
That map comment is funny to me… Ff14 mapping is just fine to me, but for the life of me I can’t navigate WOW mapping in the few hours I tried playing Wow back in January.
Why so many have problem with the map. Is better then in WoW.
well he's right, as a DPS you can't kill healers, you have 1CC on a CD longer than they have on their panic click to full health, so yeah FFXIV PVP is not the best we all know that but can be fun

Map in WoW is easy mode, Map in FF14 is hard mode, Map in EQ is Ultimate. And as I started my MMO's with EQ, anything is easier to navigate. LMAO

As a WoW vet of 11 years myself, ff14 maps aren’t that confusing. You should be able to get used to them quickly especially if your enjoying the game. Lol calm down.
the map is one of the few thing were the FF community is delusional about mostly id say there reasonable about most thing but on all kinds of copium that the map is easy to use

and it's for that exact reason why I stopped playing WoW pvp last year. As a healer, it was just 'stand still and get nuked instantly'. Absolute garbage and FFXIV needs to steer clear of that playstyle.
Im not sure if im just different…but i never had issue using the maps
Actually IRL maps can take time to learn and navigate especially old school paper maps
