Koji Fox has left his post as Head localicer after Shadowbringers, for Endwalker and onwards he's in advisory and support role as he has officially been moved as Head localicer for FF16
Hopefully the new graphical upgrade comes with improved particle effects for spells
One of the main ways I describe 14's graphics is "it looks great, as long as you don't look too closely"
Having notable improvements to texture quality, to foliage, to lighting, etc. can go an insanely long way in support for a game and if this is what the team is capable of after just a month of screwing around, imagine what they could do with the full cycle of 6.X to prepare for 7.0 releasing these changes
They said the screenshots from the graphic updates are from 1.5 month of testing. They said they aim higher for the final version of the graphic update, but that is what they can show after these couple of weeks
I do have to say, FF14's graphics are dull and lifeless for me, it has that overdesigned but bland FF12 look to it. I hope they improve the game.
I don't really have friends so each time i play a MMORPG is mostly always alone and when i do dungeons, trials, raids and stuff it's always with randoms. Since i play MMO for a long time i know the basics of how dungeons works well and since i always plays DPS i always try my best to know how to play my class and be a good dps, but don't expect me to be hardcore and know the dungeons by heart the first time i'm doing it because i have a life outside gaming and i just don't have the time to be a hardcore full-time gamer. That even the reason why i don't join a free company, because i'm more a casual gamer, maybe i will join one in the future but not ready yet.
The graphic update scare me a little because i play on mac and even thought my imac is good enough right now, i don't want to downgrade my graphic because my mac graphic card in not strong enough anymore. All in all i'm excited for most everything else, even thought i'm not far in the game (i even did not started the first expansion yet) i do enjoys the game a lot.
Lastly, right now i have a very annoying sound bug that i reported and that have been confirmed, so my wish right now is that it get fixed very soon. The sound bug is that in random times my sound started to be distorted and with a static sound like a radio being on the wrong frequency, so annoying, and the only way to make it temporary is to restart my game.
To clarify, in patch 6.1,Trust support is being added to all required 4-man MSQ content from 2.0. Everything from Sastasha through Ultima Weapon. Not just the duties currently quarantined in Duty Roulette: Main Scenario. You will be able to play through the whole of the 2.0 MSQ completely solo.

Don't be torn.
It is the best thing that ever happened to this FINAL FANTASY game.
1st time with Trusts, 2nd onwards with Players.
It will be amazing.
If it reduces the player pool for the 1st time, then so be it. Do it on Trusts.
No one will use Trusts for their 2nd run onwards.
Drop rates are already better when doing then with Players.
And also, it's way faster with Players.
Best System of all time.

If someone doesn't feel that way, their problem, thus game is not for them, WOW exists.
I don't think they should do a 1.0 classic, but I would like to see a bozja like content where we go back in time to different parts before the calamity to experience the fall of Dalamud. It was such a massive point of time for lore, it is during a time where people's memory is fuzzy, and it is in a point of time where most of our actions are inconsequential. It would be a great way for newer players to experiance what they missed, and a way for older players to experience something they got to see so long ago reimagined.
What version is the game at right now?
squadrons > trusts = purely because customizability and you can control them in dungeons
Laugh's in DLSS
Surely, you meant PS4 all those times you said PS5 in regards to graphics updates, right? My PS5 runs this game like a dream. I do fear that the PS4's days are numbered, could see it getting the axe in 7.0.
They need to wait a few more years to drop ps4 support. PS5s are still hard to come by, and so are gpus
Love that they're looking forward to the next ten years; graphics upgrades, next expansion expanding lore. Then saying, "Hey we're gonna take care of you…but we gotta take care of US too." (The slower patch cycles) PLUS, going back to the beginning and saying, "FIX IT"
Making Westwind an actual fight?! Making Castrum and Prae 4 man so you can't blitz?! Making Ultima and Lahabread actually challenging?!
YOSHI, WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!
I had Zero complaints about the difficulty of the Alexander raids, normal or savage. It was awesome!
For the Trust system, I have no problems with it, but that's because of where I am, which is a Japanese Data Center. In there, it's all about the teamwork, the Tank will set the pace and adjust to the party. If the tank wants to go slow, then that is what's going to happen, one group at a time, no complaints. However, everyone will listen to requests. If the healer wants to go slow, then all they have to do is ask and that's what happens, the tank pulls one group at a time. If the healer says that it's okay to pull more than one group, then the tank will comply and pull more. If the healer can't keep up and the party wipes, then the tank will automatically slow down, and if there's a new player, we would wait for them to view the cutscenes, even if it is just one DPS in an alliance raid (the Elemental Data Center is the exception because there are a lot of western players there).
If there ends up being less tanks and healers due to the Trust being more accessible, that's not the fault of the Trust, but the fault of the player culture. If you force the tank or healer to take on too much of a load, then they'll want to not continue taking on the burden and stop playing with you. They both have the responsibility of keeping the team alive, so if there is too much pressure due to impatience, then they'll stop taking on that responsibility. Can't blame the developers for creating an alternative option or the disgruntled players for choosing it. No one is paying a subscription to be used and abused, better rewards will only affect those that are willing to put up with the pain for it. For the Japanese players, nothing will change, but for the US and EU players, all I can say is that you can't change others, you can only change yourself. You reap what you sow. You want to be stubborn and closed-minded, then you'll get stubborn and close-minded in kind, and a long queue time as a bonus. All so that you can shave off around 3 minutes of a dungeon run, and lack the ability to not accept the fact that people can and will make mistakes.
I actually know a lot of people who don't want to start the game despite they are big rpg fans or even FF fans because it is an MMO. The trust compatibility helps a lot of people just enjoy the story, and I am all for that. That won't really take away from the multiplayer aspect
Hey Ruri, about the details of flowers…. I think you miss something very important.
Something happened recently remember : a tech demo for Unreal Engine. There was something very specific about it.
The way things works is, the scene is made of models, of varied complexity.
If you use just that, any engine would not work, what game engines do is, they cut useless things and simplify others before rendering.
This is why typically you have High/med and low detail of each models in games, used depending on distance.
But we actually know since a long time how to make much better, the result of all these researches is, for instance, this tech demo (that is actually a game now).
What the engine does now is : it simplyfies automatically any model in such a way that when rendered you can't see the difference based on the resolution used.
This trully make the engine able to hold any complexity as long as you have enough memory.
For flower, you actually don't need much.
Now, I don't say that this is what they will do here, What I say is that it is not so unbelievable is it sounds.
The pictures look the same where is the improvement? 😅🤣😂
The PS4 version was never optimized so there's still life in the system until at least 7.0
They took some feedback about housing during the Live Letter and said it will be all lottery for now and they may implement 1st come-1st serve when they introduce new wards down the line.
Gotta love a dev team that listens to their players 😁
Man, the "10 year plan" thing does NOT have a good track record XD
I always do first run as a trust (if available). I can take my time, look at the scenery, watch cutscenes at my own pace, etc. The NPCs tend to also teach you the mechanics if you watch them. Otherwise, I run everything with players beyond the first time.
I'm alright they are moving foward to PS5 but the problem stock supply issue with PS5…
So since you didn't actually watch the livestream, and are o lying reading the spark notes version. One thing I'd like to point out, is that for the graphical changes to the Vistas, and Landscapes. NONE of the textures were changed or updated in any way. They just simply used more lighting sources, to better illuminate their textures.
The character models were improved upon. But the titania example, was just them using more lighting points and using more lights. The outlier was the picture from Ilsabard. Where they showed what they could do to better landscapes of they used more assets on screen at a time. So the changed stairs and extra objects were what they were showcasing there.
And the grass is actually auto-generated AFTER all the textures are rendered in-game. So the grass is what is loaded in last. YoshiP was complaining to the art team how shitty the grass looked in certain scenes, and this was their answer to making it look prettier. This will definitely help immersion too
Keeping PS4 support for patch 7.0 is, I think, a good idea. Patch 7.0 is only about 2 years away. But patch 8.0? Ya, ditch the PS4 support. People will have had plenty of time to upgrade their 2013 hardware which will have been about 13 year old technology.
I agree with you about trusts and I'm worried. I think the game strong-arming players in multi-player content is a GOOD thing. Players should learn to play with others on their journey, not at the end when they queue their first expert roulette. (Especially tanks and healers.) I really hope they give very strong incentives (more than just daily roulette bonuses) for new players to queue if they go forward with this, because right now trusts skipping the queue make them an attractive option for more than just the completely anti-social MMO-hating players they're trying to get.
Kinda funny to think about the growth of the game. Since yes it was getting bigger over time, the massiv jump from the wow playerbase was basicly when shadowbringers was allready done and there was a long time no new content wich for most games would mean why play when nothing is coming out for months but there ff came in with its massiv win of old content beeing relevant so it keeps alot of its players even when no new content is getting released for months. dunno why i thought about that but it just came to my mind so i wanted to share it :3
I actually wish that they just did a total free market with housing with variable pricing and a very small upkeep/tax expense just to keep house owners actually playing an not just logging in an quitting just to keep their house. Sure, it may price a lot of people out of the market, but at least now they have a goal and a reason to get rich so that one day, they can use all gil to buy a house.
I'm a fairly left-wing guy IRL, but this is a video game. There are no needs and necessities in video games, only wants. That's why I think house owners should be able to set their own prices for selling their house, and foreclosures (due to player inactivity) should be set to just under average market rate for that server and area. But I do think that players should be limited to one house per account.
I feel like a bit of a black sheep with castrum and praetorium since my preference is for castrum. I don't do msq roulette for exp and the sitting about for an hour with most of that with forced cutscenes just makes it more boring. I want to play the game, not do other things as I go do some random thing with the game running in the background.
Cutting PS4 support right now would be a suicide especially on JP playerbases who still have really hard time to aquire a PS5 due to stock issue
Loved the idea hanging out with Team B Scions.
