RIP BEST GUY IN SB. MASSIVE SPOILER ★ FFXIV 1st Playthrough EP38

Quazii tries Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) for the first time in 2021 (Episode 36). Is it better than World of Warcraft (WoW)?

  1. RIP Gosetsu. You will always be remembered for all the countless laughs you brought to potato-chan and melon-kun. To quote Hien – "be proud my friend, be proud."

  2. Yotsuyu's pretty fundamentally broken, and when she started her tragic backstory speech it was all pretty predictable- then to their credit she immediately goes "and then i turned around and started enjoying killing people woohoo" so it's not like she was ever repentant for her actions.

  3. People of Azim Steppe are so strong and powerful, they were born for war and survival, when you learnt their background it was clear that they believe in reincarnation and see death as a restart point. These people don't fear death, they are perfect for war. The biggest problems of these people are their lack of interest ruling outside Azim Steppe and their fierce fight with other tribes which make them can't be united. The Garlemald didn't want to waste their time dealing with these kind of people and let them occupy them self with their problems. It was so surprising for the Garlemald that Lord Hien could unite these people and gain respect from them, thus made them great troops for war.

  4. I quite like the story telling that takes place here, when you consider Lyse's arc in how she grows as a character. It's all subtle stuff: her initial confusion/frustration as to why her people are passive to the Empire, and later, her traveling with Hien. He encounters the same issues, but comes at it with a different approach, with you helping him cobble those resources to aid and utilizing strategy that allowed those willing to fight not have to march to their doom. Lyse comes to understand that things are just not so simple.

The culmination that happens in Doma Castle is also just a nice touch for the player since you get to see all the stuff you helped with Hein pay-off.

  5. As a note, Hien's father (Kaien) is actually a throwback reference to Final Fantasy 6. In the North American version his name was spelled as Cyan. Of course, the rest of Cyan's/Kaien's story details are, let's just say, a little different even though he's from Doma and has a son in both games.

  6. I remember that when I saw Lakshmi for the first time I was like "You're pretty, not gonna lie, but you're probably a bitch." And when she treated her followers the way she did "I FUCKING KNEW IT". I just really hate her for how she treats and views her worshippers.

  7. The attack on doma castle cutscene is equally my favourite and most hated cutscene. The fact hien just stands there monologuing as he holds the roof up just feels too unrealistic even for a video game.

  8. After you finish up Stormblood, there's a quest that's worth unlocking where you restore the Doman Enclave that I highly recommend! It's very low-key but is weekly-gated, really all you do is sell things at higher prices, up to a gil cap so it's a great place to offload all the sellable money items you get from quests but it's a cute little quest that opens up some visually nice areas and lets you take part in the rebuilding of Doma.
