Chris, what XPac did you start in with Brian? I did not like ARR I thought it was boring but I finished it entirely while my sons were ahead of me..though I must say , the ending of ARR going into HW….all the drama and some of the character surprises were crazy!!!…..whatr did you think of that part??? the cut scenes? but HW!.. oh man.. that's where I first fell in love with this entire game 🙂 would you stream it you think? ?or are you? if so please link because I want to see your reactions. Brian, did you stream back then in HW? .. your reactions are so special I would love to visit those if you did..

ARR is permanently ruined…
The voice actors changing.. Thancred was the biggest one for me.. it was so weird . I actually loved his voice acting in ARR. He was so snarky.
I had a big issue with EW. Specifically with how contrived Meteion was. She's introduced at the end of the last expansion, yet is the cause for everything we've done since 1.0. It's like if Voldemort was introduced in the last chapter of The Deadly Hollows Part 2, and then Harry fights and defeats him. It felt so contrived and almost like it wasn't planned to be that way. EW left me feeling very unsatisfied, and while I can't pinpoint every reason, Meteion's contrived-ness is the biggest one.
Separately, I'm going to miss the Poetics and EXP boost from MSQ Roulette. I enjoyed queuing up, putting in some food or doing something else relaxing, then playing the game between cutscenes while reason, drawing, eating, watching YT, and so on during the cutscenes.
The idea of doing jobs quests by region is brilliant. I did them all very scattered, and thinking about it, the stories would have hit differently seeing them one after another.
When I played ARR I really disliked the Grand Companies…and I was never 100% sure if we were supposed to. Having Y'shtola as my starting scion helped since she frequently criticized Limsa Lominsa. But the way they treated the beast tribes, the way they treated refugees, the way they treated each other, etc. left me with a strong dislike for them all. The story really seemed to flip between casual references to their terribleness and treating them like the "good" institutions we should want to fight for.
I think that tension continue in HW and SB, but the conflict between us an others' morals/motives feels better delivered/interrogated/more intentional in the story.
For me, Heavensward feels like the filler arc for everything from ARR to EW.
