Raid groups for mud crabs lol ff11 classic
The whole twister-bebacle really shows how much better raiders has become since then. We really werenโt good raiders back then if you compare it to current prog and figuring out mechanics these days.
It's funny because 2.1 feels like it had more content than what we get in a patch nowadays. and we went from 3 to 1 dungeon a patch to get resources to other places, I still want to see where those resources went
Hm… Tbh I don't remember the server issues to be so severe… I guess they either weren't so bad in EU or by brain just erased them from my memory… Or it just didn't feel out of the ordinary due to experience with WoW launches :D. And yes, I can second recommending the Noclip series – it will make your heart bleed with astonishment as to how much dedication and determination they had to provide, to pull this miracle of a rebirth off (and also how much of a miracle it actually was).
IIRC the moment when he cracked up on stage wasn't due to the server problems being disappointing, but actually quite the opposite, where it was the moment he fully realized, that all the risk they took and all the work they had done was actually paying off and people seemed to really like the game, not only displayed in reviews (already Beta was a huge improvement to 1.X in player acceptance) but also the much higher than expected number of people actually wanting to play it.
Housing in 2.X was for FCs only, so you didn't have to fund 500mio gil on your own, but as an FC. Also prices were different on servers, depending on how much gil there was circulating on them, being much higher on legacy servers of course. I remember us paying like 80mio gil for a large house back then – which was still quite a lot. Having 10-20mio gil on your own was considered to be really rich on non-legacy servers.
edit: just saw that it seems you actually already have ๐
So it looks like WoW did take inspiration from FFXIV. Just…….uhh……from 1.0?
I started in phase 3 of the ARR beta as a lancer and still remember that in one of the dungeons someone told me to learn how to play the class lol
I had to play 1.0 with an icepack under my laptop or it would overheat and crash. I had three I used in rotation hahaha
Edit: also….the black shroud…the video doesnt do it justice. imagineif you will, an incredibly, unfathomly large MAZE, copy pasted so if you didn thave a map you would become endlessly lost, and it would take hours to get ffrom one end to the other….in a game where the level cap was 50 but lv 99 enemies were COMMON, and they would place quest objectives on the absolute ends of the map
It's almost like Blizzard does listen to their players when they say they should do more FFXIV stuff, but Blizzard does not look at ARR but at 1.0 xD

That ARR server launch issues. I still have a random low level cat boy on a Japanese server because their servers weren't encountering those login problems.
Glad you watched this, may I suggest pausing videos when offering your thoughts. That way itโs easier to listen to you without the video and yourself speaking over each other. ๐
WATCH this channel:Speakers Network Will give link to chornological video order that give FF14 1.0 game footage and give information and show how bad stuff where.

There are 11 Videos that have range from 12 to 18 mins long.
I'v been in ff14 since ARR BETA, still subbed to this day.
you should react to the Noclip videogame documentaries, its more detail and has interviews with Yoshi P and the whole Team of Square enix. here is the part 1 : https://youtu.be/Xs0yQKI7Yw4
Sad thing is that even now in 2021 there is plenty of ways in which we are still feeling FFXIV's PS3 limitations. Look at the ARR cities, those being cut in two isn't something Stormblood and Shadowbringers still did, nor will they do so in Endwalker.. because it's no longer necessary.
Leviathan straight up crashing people's PCs is disgustingly on-brand.
Like yes, the game has taken a toll on YoshiP but it makes me giggle whan people say "Omg he looks 10years older now"…I'm like yes…he was literally 10 years younger back then. XD
I actually played the open beta for the original FFXIV. I ran into so many bugs and hated the many, many timegates built into the game so much that I gave up. When the game released and all the beta problems were still unfixed, I stopped paying attention to the game at all. Some time after A Realm Reborn (shortly before they announced Heavensward), I gave the new version of the game a try and basically fell in love with it.
Turn 3 was hated because there is no rewards for doing it. It is quite literally a waste of time to farm because there is nothing to farm.
Btw, Project Rapture, the glass city, you'll see it again in Shadowbringers
