  1. I am genuinely so intrigued by this mobile version of the game. This may be reaching pretty far, but it feels like it could be a really good opportunity to "redo" the 1.0 story beats in a condensed form without outright going through the trouble of making a 1.0 or classic server to upkeep for PC. I'm not holding my breath for it, but with them seemingly having brought the new VA's to read old lines, it has me wondering.

  2. I think Japanese gaming companies are starting to smell blood in the water with gacha mechanics since this isn’t the first major mobile title coming out soon that specifically points out that it’s gacha free. Nintendo fully reworking and relaunching Animal Crossing Pocket Camp in a few weeks, for example.

Also, game companies are finally fully embracing Chinese gamers, who are all gaming pretty exclusively on their phones since gaming consoles never really took a foothold there from import laws.

It’s a smart move and SE knows they need to get more money and the only thing that they can rely on right now is FFXIV.

  3. As someone who has tried to get into FF14 I have had two main complaints. 1 No fresh server starting in ARR (I feel so far behind) and 2 Button bloat. Even compared to like my DK or WW Monk the classes have too many buttons. I think the mobile version may be a fun simple way for me to actually enjoy the game and not feel left behind.

  4. this mobile project is so much more "fantasy" than ff14 itself.HOW and WHY I should play ff14 on mobile especially I need to spend huge of time on it,it is not like genshin or hsr etc which you can clear your daily in 5 mins and I can play main content on PC to get better experience.it's literally ff14 classic but mobile only😅

  5. "Who is this for?" The Chinese "What is the point of this?" To expand SquareEnix's Chinese market penetration "Why spend resources on this?" 1 Billion potential Chinese customers

In short: the answer is "China"
