  1. Final Fantasy 11 was so difficult. I remember trying to level with people, being abandoned, and dying over and over again..unable to equip any gear since i leveled down.

Never again. I will stick to ff14 thank you lol.

  2. I played FFXI for 12 years from NA release. It wasn't just my first MMORPG. It was my first online game of any kind. And while I certainly can't see myself going back to it, it will always hold a special place in my heart. It came out when I first left home, on my own for the first time and in the military barracks. Single and with no responsibilities outside of work, I had all the time in the world to pour into it.

I was dug in VERY deep by the time I finally put it behind me. I was a career Bard (the most sought after job in the game), so I got to be a part of every activity the game had to offer. And because of that, I was fully juiced by the time I moved on. Fully upgraded Gjallarhorn and Daurdabla, so I had 4 songs at their max output. I also had all of Bard's RME daggers; Mandau, Carnwhenhan, and Twashtar. And because I was able to get in on every activity in the game, I was able to gear multiple jobs. I was also a fully geared Red Mage, White Mage, and Ninja. I started dabbling in Geomancer before I left, but FFXIV's pull was too strong and I finally left permanently before my Geo was decked out.

  3. Raiding was so demanding in FFXI. And Relics too forever to make. I remember my Linkshell sponsored the creation of my Gjallarhorn. Mainly because they knew that a juiced Bard meant better output for the crew as a whole.

And who can forget the days of "the linkshell's Osode, not your Osode"?

  4. I recently started working on eureka relic weapons in FFXIV. I completely skipped this zone when I was first playing through the msq. I only ever played FFXI for maybe a few hours. It felt weird playing an mmorpg with a controller and I just couldn't get passed that and eventually stopped. But after watching this I realized eureka is essentially a very compressed form of ffxi. It even has the big raid at the end that is its own instance.

  5. Nice vid! Memories of forgetting to set my home point before entering Sky the first time 😢. FFXI was just and absolute vulgar display of contempt towards its player base. And we loooooooooved that ish 😂
