  1. I can't even watch your reaction to this video right now! I watched it over the weekend and I never cried so hard at any form of media in my life! At best I get choked up in sad movies, this just had me straight ugly crying! Too much to relate to. But yes the production design was absolutely amazing! They've done some other videos that are really well done as well.

  2. You know whats one of the most beautiful things about this film? The very last shot is the exact same opening shot of their very first short film on FFXIV's 1st anniversary, it all comes full circle 😭

  3. That was a great watch! A lot of relatable feels. The most unpredictable but potentially most rewarding element in MMOs will always be the people around you.

When I first started playing and met my first group of friends I would emote whenever I could instead of typing cuz of anxiety, and even after I managed to find the courage to join discord I didn't speak for months. Some days were better than others. This movie hits home about my social anxiety in a lot of ways and how I was worried whether people disliked me for it. I've come a long way since then, but in some ways nothing has changed, haha.

  4. Yeah, I'm going through something similar right now with my now ex-static. They decided they want to pursue the numbers game (parsing) which I want no part in as I've done that with 9 of my 13 years in WoW and looking back didn't really enjoy. Now they are seemingly distancing themselves from me in both XIV and Discord which is… neat.

Hate parsing and the mentality it typically comes along with.

  5. I wouldn't call her a loyal friend… She literally stole all her friends and stole her static and didn't invite her to do raids and rubbed achievements in her face 😀 More like Single White Lala.

  6. I'm lucky enough that my best friends that i met in game, now are my best friends in real life. Sometimes we don't always play the same game, but we are here for each other, bbq, marriage, kids, and with those that i can't i still keep in touch with them.
Is a nice and kinda sad movie, but im grateful that i can't relate two much and i feel very lucky for that.

  7. Even IRL friendships require "work" like regular contact and doing things together to keep them vibrant. It's just that much harder to sustain the bond when it's remote only and bound mostly by a shared interest in gaming. If, for some reason, you stop playing the same games, it's hard to keep it alive.

  8. As neat as the concept of this was, the reality wasn't anything like this in game. Instanced dungeons and lack of need to even organize with people in your own server will do that.

This video is the idealized form of what an MMO should be, but never occurred in FFXIV due to the way it was designed.

  9. i mostly play f14 alone(apart from dungeons and raids), till now i still can't find a group of friends that i can hang out with on a regular basis but it's alright, ff14 is a game that you can play alone anyway..

  10. Ah i remember the old days too. We sold runs of trails EX for both AAR and HW and were eventually able to buy our large FC house. Then our Dictator Leader locked us in the workshop until we make all the in/out door furnishings xD. We bought so much coke from the GCs and market board to make change the house appearance.

  11. I started playing MMOs in 1997 (Ultima Online), so I've seen my share of friends move on. My disability really puts a damper on trying to have any sort of social life outside of games, and thankfully I still have two friends who helped keep me sane these last 25 years. Not many people in my position are as lucky, so I'm grateful. If you play these type of games long enough, you will see people you know just vanish overnight. It's a sad little club that we can all relate to, lol.
