6. Wait what? Bad Zepla take lol, the content only gets better the more you progress, skipping the not-so-great parts is akin getting to sleep??? Nooo! That's a big L.

   "Forget the once upon a time stuff, mother, tell me about how the hero went to fight the dragon!" Is more like it!

   Edit: if you care about the Scions, great. I didn't so I skipped a lot of cutscenes. I did almost 0 skipping in HeavensWard because it told a more focused story with a theme I actually like.
   It didn't help that ARR played like a tutorial either. I simply was not as engaged storywise, NOR gameplaywise.

8. 1:28 – none of my relatives ever made me walk from room to room, collecting pebbles or whatever, in silence, just to get to the next part of the story they were telling. Amazing ARR fetch quests do just that. What's funny – FF14 managed to make me fall asleep(for the first time ever while playing a video game), but stories I heard as a kid – didn't.

   People skip because the game early on fails utterly at delivering the story in an entertaining and interactive way. Its even worse because it also works as an introduction. You know no one and nothing, yet game fails to make learning interesting because nothing is voiced, exposition is dropped on you via long sequence of text boxes, characters have little to no appeal and gameplay is snail-speed garbage distilled further by endless chains of fetch quests.

15. Why is Pyro so fucking weird sometimes? It should be obvious that for a people locked in a 1000 year war against an enemy that only wants to eternally torment them, telling everyone "Yeah no it was actually all our fault and we deserve it" is a terrible idea. If Aymeric wants to reveal the truth he should be the one to do so and offer people some way forward so they can live with the burden of knowing their loved ones died for nothing, instead of taking some grandiose moral position and pushing all the responsibility of fulfilling it on to somebody else. Thordan was wrong for trying to undertake the plan with the primal but his views on people needing hope to live weren't false. I mean Pyro says that it's Thordan's fault people are becoming dragons but the reality is the "heretics" were abandoning Ishgard to join the Horde and destroy it BECAUSE they learned the truth and thus came to hate their own people. Without the unforeseeable circumstances of WoL coming along to solve all their problems and make way for peace revealing the hidden history would be a one-way ticket towards Ishgard's utter destruction.

20. So the Zepla/Preach clip is actually really misleading.

    First of all, a second after the clip cut off (totally a coincidence i am sure) she bursted into a giggle cause of how silly it sounded.
    Then she clarified that she wants everyone to at least give it a try and if you really don't like it, buy an ARR skip and if you still don't like it, skip the rest. So yes, she is actually says it is ok to skip if you at least gave it a try.

    Also, the video she commenting over from Preach never mentioned anything about him boosting. Quite the opposite, he enjoys the story so much he wants to see more of it and wouldn't recommend himself to boost at all. He did say however if you only care about mechanics (like MAX and his crew and now Echo) and don't care at all about the story, you are fine to skip, basically the same thing Zepla mentioned.

24. Roger nailed it, SE's success of model is based on a top down method. World of Warcraft's raid design is a bottom up, because of that their end game is so badly designed.

36. RogerBrown at 10:00 is close to correct. My understanding is FF14 devs make the hardest version of the fight, then they remove/nerf mechanics to make them normal raids or tune them down into a 1st fight boss, 2nd fight boss, etc. Generally only the 4th savage fights remain in their original forms. This might not have been the case in ARR or Heavensward since they were just getting into their grove of tuning fight, but I know thats how they do it now, they've said it a number of time.
