On Friday, January 10, 2025, a Reddit user by the name of u/MGAvenger posts a thread about a new Plugin coming to FFXIV that will allow a player to see details about another player’s account thanks to Square Enix’s new Blacklisting system. Post in full text here:
” Warning to players of the game, a new plugin coming out soon will compromise your safety
There is a plugin known as PlayerScope which will be releasing to the public soon. This plugin scrapes your Account ID’s (Which have been made public due to the new Blacklist feature added in DT) and gets a large amount of info from this. Many other plugins do this already, but this one uses it for features that can be used by malicious actors. These include:
Character Information such as your name(s) that all of your characters have had, the worlds they have been residents of, customization changes done through fantasias, as well as every location and instance they have traveled to.
Retainer info, linking every single retainer across all your characters to you.
Alt Character info, linking every character on your account to each other.
Search features for said characters, allowing to see AccountID, ContentID, retainer names and a lot more.
Full lodestone integration and allows people to see lodestone avatars based on Account ID’s.
(Soon to be added) Free Company info including history of members, names, slogans, and estates.
(Planned to be added) PvP team info, including history of members and names.
The only way you can opt out of this is to join their discord and put in a request. This plugin, especially in light of recent drama surrounding individuals who have already been dealing with harassment, highlights a very disgusting portion of 3rd party tools that aren’t used for cheating (Whether you think it is or not) in the game, botting or QoL tools. These tools are used for the sole purpose of attacking individuals and harassing them. There is no value of this plugin and no problem it is solving outside of bad actors trying to cause problems to the community and the player base. This info, which SE has allowed to be scrapped due to their problematic implementation of the new blacklist, will put over 700k users are risk of being stalked, harassed, and with nowhere to escape outside of a new account entirely. I put this out as not only a warning to everyone who has the potential of being attacked and harassed, but also as an example of change needing to be done to protect this community from individuals who want to break down and terrorize innocent people who have done no wrong.

Makes me wonder if the person creating this plugin is a stalker themselves ingame, because no sane player would risk making a plugin like this unless they're planning to do something malicious with it as well

Full on stalker mode! Notifies you about everything the person you "subscribed" to does or did. Race change, name change, hairstyle change, everything!

Sooo what exactly does this do? If it’s not showing legit data like cards IP addresses etc what’s the issue?
I wouldnt call it terrifying but it is pretty cringe plugin
