Still going strong all these years later. This was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had playing a game. This was when I was a 19 year old just finishing my first year of college and still nearly 10 years later and it still a great memory.
imagine in the video they manage to successfully imprison the dragon and they are back to 1.0, that would be the ultimate troll

They should do a story telling mode where they recreate the 1.0 events where you can play before reborn in a remake format. kind of how Eureka, Trust, and other systems have a stand alone feel but still very much apart of the game.

Tfw ur game so bad you have to hit it with a meteor and start over. 1.0 was so bad, Yoshi P is a god for resurrecting this game and pushing it to where it is now.
I watched Asmon's first live on FFXIV and even if I loved it, I was feeling uncomfortable with how he was misreading ALL the names. I am so pleased that in few weeks, he got into it so much that he took time to learn the names properly and is now even able to name Gridania, Cid and even Van Baelsar right away.

I remember being there for this moment with a bunch of my linkshell peeps.
In the last days, all the mobs and raid bosses descended into the town and massacred anybody just standing there. The players banded together to stop the mobs that were way overleveled than them. Eventually most towns succumbed… And then the big event happened. Epic way to revamp a game indeed.
Bahamut was around wrecking shit LOOOOONG before Deathwing even existed.
Meteor is the Idea from FF7 long before Cata
1.0 gameplay wasn't too good, but I made lots of memories, i was really happy at the end, and looking forward to what was coming
there was an event like that in WoW. It was in the Open Beta with a global attack of the legion onto the capital cities.
I played this back the never really cared
Everquest also had an event like this, it could be triggered once per server and then never again. You killed 4 guards with very desirable loot, and it would wake up the bad ass dragon that would rampage across the server and murder all the players and npcs in each zone. It couldn't be killed, nothing existed that could damage it. End game guilds had agreements on only killing 3 of the 4 guards, so they could respawn, but eventually one guild would break the pact for the luls. Only one pvp server still had the dragon years later, and because the game had new expansions and new skills, they decided to band together and not only WAKE the dragon but also to defeat it using unresistable magic attacks from wizards. They kept going at it for hours, only for the server to crash due to the script not being able to handle it.
Next day, the devs fixed the bugs, and they went at it again, and actually defeated the undefeatable dragon! It didn't have loot, as it was not intended to be defeatable, so GMs passed out rewards, but that was an epic story to behold.
Also………… You would have quit the game this game was not the FF you know today they remade the full game after this aka FF realm reborn. If he played the classic game he would have quit day one the only thing u had to do was levquests and that was about it

man that was sadness day in Final Fantasy XIV. saying goodbye to your friends. not knowing if their coming back on with the new version or being in same server with them. 🙁 My mom cry that day. the song singing in the back group was upsetting her so much. she had put sound on mute. I miss her so much. she would be happy knowing new Final Fantasy XIV still holding strong. after all these years.
