What do YA’LL think?! LOVE the expansion of the trust system myself. Think the trimming of the ARR instanced content is also great! But can it go too far?

Are 8-player Trusts something YOU would like to see in FFXIV's future? How much 'Trust' action is too much – is there even such a thing?!
Fun trivia: Ritatyn sas Arvina is garlean for Dude on a Hill.
I like practicing with trust, i still like grouping .
I do think that its great they are going to change ARR stuff and maybe add the Trust system to certain things there as well, though u can also use your grand Company recruits to do dungeons with u there.
As for 8 man or more trusts.. I'm not really sure i want that, its always more fun to do it with more players and considering how slow dungeons are with trusts gods know how long bigger content would be, though maybe using it to train yourself for raid mechanics might work, but then again, more fun and faster with other players.
While it would be nice in theory to be able to fill out your party with npcs, I feel like Trust shines when it comes to the immersion aspect and role play feel, but that would be broken if the WoL has a non-story sidekick
I wanna team up with characters in Heavensward and Stormblood trials for sure
I only personally use Trust when running a dungeon the first time for the extra dialogue and banter. But grouping with Trusts do feel right at times; like that level 87 dungeon and the level 89 Trial. For the story aspect, I'm glad the system exists.
RIP Cape Westwind, the biggest loss we've ever had in the game. 🙁
The Mother Crystal trial is already an 8-man Trust job, so we know they can do it.
I'm all for it, and I hope they consider making all the optional dungeons and trials Trust compatible.
However, the standard Trust group of Y'shtola, Urianger, Thancred, Alphinaud and Alisaie wasn't always available (particularly throughout most of Heavensward), so it's an opportunity to bring in peripheral scions like Arenvald (who was there from the start, but didn't do a great deal before Stormblood), Hoary Boulder and Coultenet, or even non-Scions like Estinien and Ysayle. More 1-off groups like the Trust for Ktisis Hyperboreia would be good.
The thing I really like about the Trust system is the AI bots are programmed to get the mechanics right (most of the time), so it's a great way to learn new fights.
And none of it takes away from the hardcore MMO types, who have still got all the extreme trials and savage/ultimate raids for multiplayer content.
The only worry I have with everything being made trustable, is instance queue times for 2 reasons it makes it harder to find groups and if 8 people are doing a trust trial that's 8 instance's that need to be fired up leading to server ovwrload
It's almost impossible to find people to play MSQ dungeons and trials with in Croatia, and other countries around this part of EU. So trusts update is amazing to me. BTW if you can, follow Audrey on tweeters. She translates every little detail that's translated and not translate in the live letter.
Going into Nidhogg with Estinien as part of a Trust wouldn't really be possible, since well, Estinien IS Nidhogg at that point.
If they're reworking earlier duties as Trusts, they would have to be characters that were available at that point in the story if you wanted any meaningful interactions from the duty, otherwise, if you just bring in the "avatars" during that duty, they would be silent the entire time.
I'm speaking from my experience with the Trust system. I use it much more often than queuing up with randoms because running with a Trust gives me an opportunity to appreciate the dungeon without people trying to rush me along to clear it as fast as possible. I cleared every dungeon in both Shadowbringers and Endwalker with Trusts along with leveling every alternate combat job, and if you run those dungeons in Trust with characters that weren't actually present at the time of the story events, then the characters don't really say anything. One rare exception was in Dohn Mheg if you go back and run it with G'raha on your team under the "Avatar" setting. He has his own special "comments" during the fight with the leader of the Fuath, but otherwise, remains silent, because, well, he wasn't there.
I have mixed feelings about these announcements based upon those experiences. If they add to the story and give those little character quips in the dungeons when you run Trusts, then yeah, I'm looking forward to trying them again to see what happens and how they make those adjustments. I guess we won't really know how it's gonna look til it actually happens.
EDIT: I mean, thinking about it, if they went ALL the way back to the beginning, with the first 3 A.R.R. dungeons, it would be cool if the "Trust Characters" ended up being Momodi, Miounne, and Baderon, respectively for Copperbell, Tam-Tara, and Sastasha.
For certain, they might start doing it for MSQ trials. But I don't see them adding it to raiding content. The mechanics would be too complex for NPCs. I think this is just to help out with long ques for older content. I kind of hope they will add Trust to Coils as an exception since its damned impossible to get a group for that xD.
To be fair, I actually like the MSQR 8-mans. They're cheesy.
Drk changes! This brought me joy.
No way is 24man trust ever gonna happen i think. In my opinion, it wouldn't be worth the time of the devs to program. I think the benefits there wouldn't be worth the resources spent, plus that content isn't hard to do. It's all pug content. The only thing is that at times, it will be a longer que and that is understandable frustration. I spent half an hour waiting for the Void Ark raids individually. I think they should add incentive to do those raids so ques will shorten.
24 man content is hilarious though xD come on, you guys can't tell me watching a pack of people die instantly isn't entertaining.
It's tough. I absolutely do see the positives to it but I am concerned for queue times if you don't want to use Trusts. I'm also concerned about the mechanics. They mentioned that they had to choose mechanics for The Mothercrystel based on what Trusts can do and that makes me worry. I'd rather they be able to do whatever mechanics they want and just let the players figure it out rather than having to filter all of their wild ideas through what Trusts can be programmed to do first. It could end up leaving some cool and fun ideas on the cutting room floor.
Seems like they are future proofing the game so you can still play it when they inevitably shut the servers down.
Adding trusts to all the MSQ stuff will allow people like my wife who has extreme social anxiety to actually finish the game. She stopped at Titania because it was the first one that we couldn't clear undersized with 2 people and unlike dungeons there was no trusts for it. Everything else we basically duo'd. (Although this was before they made Crystal Tower mandatory, I don't think she's completed that yet, so that might still be a blocker).
I think one of the reasons for them getting trusts for the older game is pre-emptively prepping the game for the inevitable population bust that makes it harder/longer to clear content in the future.
I don't think there will be any problems with the single player vs traditional MMO problem in FFXIV. I think the idea of making FFXIV a proper mainline, single player (but online) game is the right way to go, just because of the franchise it's a part of. People who want to do the dungeons with other people will still be able to, because people will always be using the roulette system to level and earn currency. We've had trusts in the game since Shadowbringers now, and queues for Endwalker and Shadowbringers dungeons are still just as quick as any other dungeon in the game.
Dungeons and story trials have never really been a part of the endgame outside of the expert roulette, which won't be affected by this at all.
I suspect they will always keep the actual raids and alliance raids always a real player affair only, purely because they have to manually program the trusts to interact with every mechanic (which is why they take so long to do).
Going with other players is a lot faster, so many people still want to run with other people, also flex you skills is something an MMO player is happy to do always, LOL
personally I only play with a select few friends but when I play with them I’m perfectly happy playing with random ppl in parties but when I’m alone I’d much rather trust than use duty finder. sure trust takes longer and it’s annoying when u die u wipe but idk I just love taking my time with the scions lol
I think that as long as it’s an option and not mandatory/the majority of how you do content, then I don’t mind it. When it comes to really big story moments, I like using Trusts to fully immerse myself in the story.
Honestly I'd think DPS players would be turning cartwheels over the rafters and screaming "Hallelujah!" at the Trust system going universal. Bypassing a 30-minute queue? Yes, please. Also, with so many dungeons being mandatory to advance the MSQ, it would be a great thing to have in place if the population drops, or you're having trouble getting a queue to pop for an older dungeon.
Also, I may be speculating, but I'm pretty sure the Trust system would only be available to people queuing for specific dungeons. If you're going for your daily Roulette bonuses, you'll have to be playing with other people.
Preach touched on this with his Bozja overview, but the beauty of FFXIV is that so many of the features and extras are optional, which contributes to the longevity of the game. Knowing that I don't HAVE to do certain content makes me feel more free to try it out, because I don't get that kneejerk feeling of resentment when I'm told what to do. 😀
It's actually wild to me that they've struggled to really reach the single player audience because I am absolutely one of those people and FFXIV is without a doubt my favorite Final Fantasy experience aside from my first playthrough of FFX. This game is extremely single player friendly.
I fucking love trusts
I would actually like to see duo or trio + trust system or squadron. I think this may also help bring up new ppl that have friends. 2 ppl can team up and take 2 npcs and you can coach them thru it without pressure since also they are ur friend it'll be a good experience imo.
The only worry I have is that the npcs squads/trusts may make queues for content even worse.
