  1. Holy fuck Rich including several minutes of stalling in the video. Truly an entrepreneur.
(Edit: Oh, it's not really a video of his thoughts, it's just the first ~45 minutes of when he started playing KEKW)

    WoW: An actual MMO.
    FFXIV: An actual RPG.

Current WoW is dog shit. It used to be amazing.
Current FFXIV is mediocre at best, and has never been great to me. It's just way to linear, not open world, too many loading screens, janky unresponsive combat, weird hardcode 400ms latency with abilities (such as interrupts for example). Idk, it just plays and feels like a game made in 1998.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses. FFXIV has a lot of really good things, as did WoW.

  2. my problem with ffxiv. in the last 9 months i played the game. i dont like how raid fight r long its not harder its more annoying and boring then wow raiding. only reason i say this if a boss fights 10min long. after grinding the mech u get to the point were u need to practice the last 2min or even 1min of the boss so takes a good amount of time to get up to that bit. some times i find my self beyond bored. doing the other mech we have down for 8min to practice last phase. im about to clear savage this week. i found it easy not to bad. had good players with me that learn mech quickly. but ill prob wont touch any of the ultima raids. there like what 18 to 20+ min boss fights. that seem super boring to practice. wow raiding isn't good but at least the fights are quick so u dont get bored out of your mind.

  3. imo, WoW was never really that good. Could never get into it at all which sucked because I really digged the artstyle of the game and a lot of the setting, it just never really grabbed me like FFXIV did.

  4. WoW and FF 14 are incomparable. I actually agree with Limit Max about balance issues, WoW has such a massive variety and sub variety it's insane to think they could nail it. Single and multi target vary heavily. FF has less variety but their class design is damn good and intuitive, you learn the class easily. They absolutely fucking nailed tanking in FF. You have common abilities and hold aggro easily and deal good dmg. WoW tanking is hideous. Kite across the map and hope you're flavor of the month in wow. But there is more tank variety. Dungeon design early on for FF is kinda meh but gets significantly better by heavenward. Raid design is massively different, wow has trash before all bosses and the bosses are much stronger and far more punishing.

In terms of mechanics and design, FF 14 is superior because their system is 10x more intuitive. You will learn to play ANY MMO better by playing FF14. You only have to play the story once on FF14 and level your toons significantly faster and share all gear and currencies. Wow has such piss poor design for characters, you have to replay the story and grind levels forever on each toon. Rep grinds are per character, same with gear, and with currencies. And the story for WOW is dogshit.

That being said, I prefer the fast paced gameplay of WoW. If FF14 was faster and ventured a bit further with classes, it would be the perfect game. Don't get me wrong, I'll concede that FF14 is superior, but I love the combat of WoW. The classes are so good and interesting in wow while FF is very conservative in class design. But FF and it's community are beyond amazing. Black mage is extremely fun with just enough complication to keep you on your toes. But then you have summoner and it's… Meh. The class quests in FF (and they have profession quests) are some of the best I've ever played. If these 2 games merged and took the best of both worlds, you would have the greatest MMO of all time.
