The fact thay Frosty already assumes the community is going to flame this mogtalk episode, speaks volumes about the xiv community…
i pray to the gods someone at square watches this
I've been in the camp for years that caster res should be removed and just give healers charged action swiftcast
As a Phys Range main, I'm gonna hope the next Mogtalk will have fellow Phys Range mains to actually discuss the issue(s) with the role. Since as a MCH, I've experienced even PF groups for the SC EX locking MCH. Plenty of discussion for the others roles and then Phys Range basically a footnote much like how people in-game are treating the role.
It was really good mogtalk the guests made a lot of good point and also made me laugh! 👍

This show makes sense. As long as we don’t call the devs names and aren’t rude then criticism is healthy. It’s the people on Reddit doing those things that’s just wrong. just started listening to the show though. I love those guys. Happy to hear them have this conversation.
I'm quite a beginner on fflog and shit, don't know if I understand this right, so please correct me on this. Basically for tanks, you should focus on adps because they all have no dsp contribution to the party, therefore checking on rdps is kinda pointless. Meanwhile, the tank that can squeeze out the most from buffs window in the form of adps is better (dsp vice) ?
If they cannot buff BLM then they have to nerf all Melees and nerf boss battles to account for the lesser overall damage
More talks about balance is good. Ignoring the problems doesn't mean it's good lol
I know multiple groups that took the dps check for granted so distributed gear very poorly and it ended up costing them week 1
Whoa, Xeemo, Arthy and Mo all on the same podcast? commences ready check
any show with Xeno and Arthars is worth watching!
7:43 Not the first time I've heard that. GingerPrime has been making videos lately exposing the SE cultists in the community that get up in arms if you offer any kind of critique.
I would argue that HG is only bad because of the CD where as the other Invulns have much lower CDs even though the so called downsides of the other Invulns are not really downsides.
Great session! Lovely selection of guests. Don't be discouraged from talking about job balance. We need some Ranged representation in a future one 😀
A lot of these arguments don't make sense.
Xeno talking about how Paladin is harder to play than Dark Knight, maybe at an optimization level, but at points where you have 2 min burst + tank buster + swap + party mit like AM3 in DSR you can be double weaving 10-12 GCDs in a row, Paladin doesn't have to deal with that.
Arthars talking about why bring a Reaper to DSR too, Reaper isn't bad. It being a resource job lets you easily move dps from phases that are giga easy like P2 and P6 to make harder dps checks easier (like P7). To the point where it's doing significantly more damage than ninja in P7.
My group had a ton of 2 min burst, and we ended up having to hold resources from 2 min burst to deal with dps checks that didn't happen during 2 min burst, like eyes, the spear in transition, because our dps was so low outside of burst.
Probably my favorite episode of mog talk so far, xeno and arthars always make the best content especially together
I don't understand the hate Leviathan gets. I thought it was as fun as any other fight..
It looks like they accidentally made a meta similar to GW2's "zerker" meta. Where GW had support classes/gear in the game for a while, but no one took them to high end content because they prioritized fat damage. Looks like Savage raiders don't care about a battle res because it's better to just not need it and carry more damage.
Bia and Waifu in same mogtalk?! LICKA xff
Tbh i want 6.3 rework even if it's gonna be like SMN. Because PLD is an ARR job, that retained that feeling of… "Legacy" or whatever, Do you know, a chance of block? No, really, don't google it, look for your stats in game. THERE IS NONE. But chance is 30%. How do i know? Better ask these guys on balance, because you're not gonna find it in game, i'm certain. I don't know, how PLD worked way back when – i wasn't FF player at that time, i've started playing at 5.5 i believe, and my 1st class was PLD, and a 2nd one was GNB. And after completing 1st raidtier on both jobs, i can clearly say, that GNB is so much easier, while being better defended. Yes, PLD is the class, wich has a GAUGE dedicated to DEFENCE has WORST protection AMONG ALL TANKS. Why hallowed sucks? Because if you're not using it on the start of the fight – it's 1 use only. It won't be avalible anymore. Holy Sheltron is worse then HoC Bloodwhetting or Tbn, since it's just mit on mit, while other tanks have shielding (gnb has Exog that can crit, and even without it still heals you really nice). All tanks have a nice rotation focused on 2 min Burst, while having burst every minute, and fit all of their buttons in it. What pld has? HiS rOtAtIoN iS aLl OvEr ThE pLaCe. You can't fit it all in one go, and it hits not that hard. How other tanks heal themselfs? Easely(except drk, yes, but that what healers for, right?) while PLD has to trade his 2k MP (that he has an Abundance of, no management here) for Clemency, while loosing dmg and GCD for every heal. Requiescat not even buffs clemency now, for some reason. But PLD has a better party mit! He has 2 of them! AND THEY ALL HORRIBLE. Well, from the casual point of view, as i was at that time, Passage of arms, absolutely awesome. It just feels Powerful, Guarding 7 other people, and stuff, i understand that. From a raider standpoint, it's garbage since you just give your party 5 sec snapshot buff and you canceling it immediately since you loosing dmg if you standing still. Ability itself can be casted for 18 seconds btw. Divine Veil? ah yes, shields that don't proc instantly, and i need to ask a healer for a HEALING SPELL not just any healing, or adjust it for req combo, which not always availible, and cast Holy spirit while again, loosing dmg. And my favourite, COVER. I'm sorry, THE COVER that negates all dmg and effects from the target, – EVEN KNOCKBACK , yes, you can save a guy who forget to press it or his anti-KB in CD rn, It gonna be redirected to you, but if any Damage Over Time is already on target you're guarding, it Chews right through. DANCER LITTERALY DIED ON MY HANDS. WHY!? Why it works like this? I supposed to be a protector, not a junky 8 year old mess! I don't know what to think, tbh. I have a nice gunblade and quite good with it, but i love my job, and i don't know how any other PLD mains feel, because there's none of them. I'm just sad man. So sad.
Japanese Reaction to P7S Illegitimate Waymarks — this is so fucking funny LMFAOO
insanely happy that two minute windows get brought up a lot in this video. i get why they went down that path, but it's genuinely the worst of both worlds for everyone who plays this game, as casuals get punished for drifting 2m even slightly and hardcore players lose all the fun in syncing it all up.
the fact that people are still convinced paladin is easier than dark knight is testament to this issue, because even though dark knight just holds for two minutes and then presses everything at two minutes, it comes off as overwhelming at first glance, so it's "harder" than the job that spreadsheets mit/rotations the moment there's melee downtime
this was gold. great ideas and points from all guests, not malding but fair criticism and ideas. Love this game and love that there are intelligent people playing it on stream and highlighting these issues, thanks to all!
Anyone miss the old intro song?
Great episode and many great points. Always good to see great minds like this come together.
Love your shows ^^ ty for taking time to do them, hope your days going well!
Healer who quit healing after Asphodelos here. The reason I stopped healing had little to do with the actual difficulty. The job design is just too boring. Sage just feeling like a coat of paint to scholar with all the same buttons "but it does something ever so slightly different" wasn't appealing to me. Asphodelos was yet another tier where I felt like I was only there to press a button once every half a minute at most, of course I was filling the time with DPS. 80% of my casts were the same damage button over and over and over. It's very boring. I switched to Black Mage for DSR and went into the new tier as an omnicaster for Abyssos. I'm having a lot more fun now and probably cannot be convinced to play healers anymore after playing barrier healers since Creator.
Overall, this was a good episode, lots of good points, lots of decent discussion. But I am SO glad, that unlike in WoW, the devs stick to their guns and don't listen to EVERY minor and mostly insignificant gripe the top 1% whine about. This would be a DIFFERENT game if they did.
40:20 – 40:53 in this part of the rant he contradicts himself. Job balance isn't perfect, but everything really revolves on the duty at the end of the day. This has been BLOWN out of proportion. The devs' balancing creed has WORKED for 4-6 years now. They get overly excited and overtune something by 1%, and then this whole fiasco happens. One mistake every 6 years is good enough for me. Give the devs a break.
Give black mage a rez and make it so all mages can rez. Now balance their dps accordingly.
Imo dps checks should not be tuned around perfect play, but good play. What Arthars says really makes me worried cuz 14 raiding shouldn't end up as extremely min-maxy just to be able to clear.
If we split DPS into pure and support than MCH and blm deserve to be in the pure DPS status. Get rid of Phys and Caster role and just stare pure and support now.

The healer issue this raid tier can be explained pretty easily. For almost the entirety of ShB and the first raid tier in EW healing mechanics basically boiled down to finding the right oGCD to solve the entire mechanic and going back to spamming your 1 dps button. Healers have been used to this design for over 2 years, but now this suddenly doesn't work anymore and a lot of people don't know how to adjust to it.
Let’s just give machinist some utility. Defibrillator rez or something. 2min cd instant cast, maybe make it shorter range than the other rezzes.
Remember when everyone was Meming on scholar on the EW launch? I member.
They literally just need to go back to what we had in ShB, 60,90,120,180 second buffs to spread these multipliers out again. They may have said that this is the direction they want, but they also said that Paladin should never be able to block magic…sometimes the devs are just flat out wrong and need to admit it.
