  1. Always a pleasure when the notification comes up for a new Hyura video! ๐Ÿ˜
Btw, if you haven't already, unlock your battle chocobo. You'll then be able to use Geyshal Greens to summon your riding chocobo to help you in battle. The quest is a blue quest follow up to the riding chocobo quest.
And for levelling sake, don't miss out of the Daily Roulette. And have the food buff on you at all times.
    Good luck Hyura! ๐Ÿป

  2. I first tried to level up a black mage, well, conjurer, when I started playing FFXIV…
I gave up after level 20, and didn't touch the game for 4 years.
So let me tell you, huge respect for BLM, they're just amazing, to manage to endure that much death.
Now I go pew pew with my gun and swing slash with my sword and I'm happy.
I've never felt the calm music at the end more than after watching that episode ๐Ÿ™‚
And the worst is that I loved it. So thank you for that. Turns out, insanity is really fun to watch.

  3. Yeah, that's just standard procedure when levelling black mage. We've all been there. Trust us tho, it gets alot better. At level 42, you can proc insta cast mana-free Fire 3s with your Fire 1, so that should turn the world of black magic amazing

  4. 1:34 — "How to Black Mage – Part 1": You have a sleep-spell ^.^ You're supposed to use it XD

2:25 — "How to dungeon as a Black Mage": If you have aggro, run to the tank ^.^ If he doesnt take the mobs from you, accept your fate and die in a blaze of glory ^^ (unless you have a kind healer who keeps up – in that case: keep dps'ing ^.^).

4:30 — "How to Black Mage – Part 2": plan your positioning and do not skip mobs – they'll respawn. Also, never leave the city without healing potions ^.^

BLM is actually not that difficult, its just very unforgiving if you over-excert yourself. It requires you to plan ahead and it teaches you to be cautious ^^ And in case you havent yet done that: visit the Novice Hall and do your caster quests: they reward you with quite decent gear ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Yep, welcome to the BLM grind XD.

Just as a heads-up tho, you should be able to use your Chocobo as on-field support by calling him out with "Gysahl Greens". That's gonna make alot of things easier.
What I also did when leveling my BLM is clear the mission area of enemies with my higher-level class. Just in case the local mobs got any funny ideas ๐Ÿ˜›

Despite this I really hope you stick with the job. I know it's somewhat trite to say "iT geTS BettER AfTER x" but BLM really is the poster-child of that phrase XD

Looking forward to your next vid. O/

  6. A few hints, first for leveling in general then black mage.
    Leveling:
Daily roulettes give their exp bonus ONCE per day, so if you've already done them then you'll get more exp just doing your highest level available dungeon.
There's a blue quest in Limsa called "Rising to the challenge" which unlocks a weekly challenge log you can do for extra exp, gil, and gold saucer bling.
Any class that reaches level 30 can join pvp (unlocked via a blue quest from your Grand Company of choice), which not only has its own rewards but also its own roulette which, here's the most important part, you don't need to WIN to get rewards. Participation is all that matters.

    Black mage:
Fire 3 and Blizzard 3 are mostly used just to swap between ice and fire phase (ie casting blizzard 3 while in fire mode or fire 3 while in ice mode) without having to transpose and build stacks. Their cast times and mp use are so long that spamming them will make you lose damage (unless you get a Firestarter proc from using Fire 1 at level 42+, in which case your next fire 3 is free AND instant cast). This also means that blizzard 3 will reload your mp so fast you'll only have time for 1 spell (which will usually be a thunder spell at this level) until it's back to FIYAH!
Thunder spells do not benefit from nor do they lose damage from the fire/ice mechanic, so they're best used during ice mode while your mp is refilling to slap a dot on the enemy/enemies before it's time for FIYAH!
Sleep will become obsolete quickly, but ARR solo quests love to throw hordes of enemies at you that you don't have the sheer damage to nuke before they're a problem (yet), so you can knock one mob out with sleep and focus on the other to buy some time.
Swiftcast makes your next spell instant, but it doesn't make the GCD go any faster. It can be used for emergency movement but more often you'll be using it to cast Flare.
Flare uses all your mp, and by that it uses all your REMAINING mp, not that it requires a full bar of mp. Once you're almost out of juice (say, 1200 mp or so? I forget the minimum) pop a swiftcast on Flare to give your tank a tan before you reload with Blizzard 3 or Freeze. This also means that Manafont gives you just enough mp to do a second Flare which isn't as useful as it used to be but it's a good habit to build for later levels for Reasons.

  7. Good luck levelling! It gets easier and dungeon rolos with food exp buffs are wonderful for levelling fast. Bring out your chocobo in the wild and that should help a lot too! I hope you have started to get the hang of the job, and be sure you're never too undergeared. Again, goodluck

  8. "Hyura wizard, Harry!" … sorry, I had this joke in my head for days now.

Black Mage is very clunky to level. You'll always feel like you're missing some tools to make the experience smoother. It'll start to feel better at 42 when you get "Firestarter" and can move around on occasion. It's an extremely complex job that requires a lot of practice just to play somewhat decently.

That said, if you're not having fun with a job, you can switch to something else. Don't let that digital marble dictate your life.

  9. I have every job at 90 and BLM is by far is the hardest caster to play, if not the hardest job to play lol, but later on you will become a monster when it comes to damage ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ
