  1. I’m really hoping next expac (sense we didn’t get it this expac) the new mage will be a Pictomancer/Ink mage from bravely default we already saw it in game from Shadowbringers also it would give us another selfish mage dps

  2. Summoner is fun but way too simplistic. Practically brain dead. Putting Bahamut and Phoenix on different buttons with independent cool downs would help as locking phoenix’s aoe heal behind the first minute of a fight makes no sense. Giving the gem summons some interaction with fester or giving them a passive raidwaid effect would also be nice. Speed boost for Garuda, aoe shield for titan, crit buff for ifrit. Something like that. There’s also no way to deal with downtime so if a boss goes untargetable longer than a few seconds your entire rotation is completely thrown off.

  3. As smn main in shb im sooo sad how that rework came out. I'm playing with very slow learning static so at least smn rotation kept me intrested. Now it's as mobile as physical range and has very bland rotation. Whats more skills like energy drain, fester and ruin IV are there only because without them there would be no buttons to press.

  4. It’s very simple but feels good in ex trials and raid! This is a great foundation to what summoner can be in later patches/expacs. Really looking forward to seeing it in the future like adding shiva, leviathan and ramuh as elemental primals and Alexander as a Demi summon.

  5. I've played Scholar the entire time, I gave up on original Summoner very quickly because it was too complicated. I was able to learn lv90 Summoner in less than 20 minutes. On one hand I'm glad there's a class that's so easy to pick up, on the other hand that's pretty alarming. Compare that with Reaper whose tooltips I looked at and thought "yeah maybe some other day"

  6. they actually did it. they made dancer not the most braindead dps to play. that's the part that pissed me off about the new summoner. honestly when i first tried it out ruined my day. maybe getting to 86 will make a big difference but it only adds an tiny extra layer of complexity that is pretty much standard for any dps at lvl 50/60. also they DID have 2 enkindles in beta with half the potency. it seems like they literally just wanted to dumb the class down to hell so mentors could try out a dps for once. that's also another part that pissed me off about the new summoner as a black mage main. seemed like a boring and cheap way to make a spell that has a higher single hit than xenoglossy.

  7. People get obsessed with button count for some reason and then write off a job saying it’s overly simple or not fun.

You could have 30 buttons and still have a boring/simple job lol. What matters is what those buttons do, and how they feel to press. 30 boring/simple buttons is nothing compared to 8 fun/complex buttons Imo.

I think Summoner nails it’s intended design without button bloat and with lots of flexibility for skill expression because of how each summon differs.

  8. SMN now has the core of its rotation in place by level 22 where you get your emerald gem. This does make playing level synced fairly painless, and obviously you get a bunch of visual upgrades and the demi-primals to look forward to. But a friend of mine finally unlocked Arcanist here in 6.0, and at level 25ish they asked me what the difference between emerald and topaz phases were, and I told them that it would start to feel different at… level 86.

  9. SMN will remain boring, do not get your hopes up. Remember in the live letter when announcing job changes, they said no more complex jobs or jobs that take some brain power. THIS is how smn will play from now on. 2 buttons to press, 3 slightly different animated ruin 3's, and a job forcing you to use a macro so that you can actually see the fucking mechanics, on top of piss poor damage because they gutted 2/3's of the jobs kit and didn't know how to balance it back in. At least you'll know my pain of stormblood mch to dumbed down shadowbringers mch.

And no, they won't make a dot job, they very clearly want to remove dot's from the game. SCH dots removed last expac, NIN just had its dot removed (on top of adding a one button press huton easy mode), BRD having 0 interactions with its own dots, and ofc SMN having it's dots removed. BRD's will be gone next expac or in the middle of this expac.

  10. Hard disagree on the idea of making enkindle have two charges (or a short cooldown) but do half the potency. That doesn't do anything to make the job more interesting, nor does it do anything to change the job in a meaningful way. All it does is make you push a button a second time during that window, and to me that is not going to make it any more interesting.

Good video, though. It encapsulated a lot of my own thoughts quite smoothly. However, I do think that having a job that is overly simple isn't strictly a bad thing. I like summoner in its current state quite a bit, because while it's easy to play at a passable level without much thought, the slight differences in the summons after level 86 allows players to strategize a bit on the fly, fight by fight, and that's something I appreciate about the job. It could do with a little bit more complexity, but I can't see myself getting as melodramatic as some of the responses I've seen regarding the job lol.
