Let's Play Final Fantasy XV #057 (Royal Edition) – Final Fantasy XIV

In this episode of Final Fantasy XV, we bring the Premium Gysahl Greens to the Fat Chocobo at Cauthess Rest Area and venture into Perpetouss Keep, where some unwelcome visitors are plotting within.

Here’s a link to the map I created for Perpetouss Keep. I simply took an existing blank map I found and made dots where the treasures are. The red dots are treasures on the ground and the blue dots are treasure up on platforms. You may need to zoom in to see them, since I wanted to make the locations as precise as possible.

Thanks for watching!

  1. 9:04 there's definitely some button delay using warpstrike outside of battles. It's the same of running with the L3 button. Sometimes you stop running but there's a delay that still continues to drain your stamina.

  2. I’ll try and note all the Final Fantasy XIV references:

First off, the music is all from FFXIV as you surmised. A lot of killer tracks in the game, and the new composer, Soken, is amazing. The dungeon track played is actually the same one as what plays when infiltrating an imperial base in XIV, so it fits!

The duty ready and duty commenced is straight out of XIV for any instanced content.

Link pearls are the way they use in game to communicate, along with that little ringtone, and yes, you almost never see them and just kinda hold your hand to your head just like in the cutscene, lol.

The Allegans mentioned are the ancient technologically advanced civilization of XIV that now exists only as ruins. It used to be a bit of a joke in XIV that “it’s always Allegans” because they always end up being the explanation for some sort of phenomenon in the game, so it makes sense that they are also used to explain the dimension hopping. The Orb fights are a reference to many of the enemy type that you fight in their ruins, and also a reference to FF IV’s CPU (XIV references other games A LOT).

The tomestones are also the endgame currency similar to Justice/Valor points in Wow. So of course, this game would have you farm them for upgrades lol.

The node allowing you to refight a harder version of Garuda is similar to XIV where a lot of times story bosses will have a harder version that drops good stuff and the story explanation is sometimes that the harder fight is just a “simulation”.

As for Garuda, in game she’s referred to as a primal, and basically in game with enough crystals and prayer, people can summon forth super powered entities called primals. For each tribe of beast men, this takes the form of their worshipped god, so the Ixal worship and summon Garuda, but another race of beast men would summon other primals such as Ifrit or Titan. They are also very bad news since they drain the land to sustain themselves, and also have the frightening ability to “temper” beings which permanently makes them into worshippers of the primal. It’s actually one of the things that makes your PC in XIV special is they have the ability to resist this influence.

The fight with Garuda itself is also similar in this game it looks like. You have multiple rocks that you need to keep preserved because they prevent her ultimate attack from killing you, she sends down spines that attack you and try to blow up the rocks, and has those two mini me’s as adds.

Finally, when Noct vanished, he actually was pulled into XIV for their crossover event. You basically get to pal around with Noctus, get to go camping, and fight the XV Garuda at the end, which then sends him back.

Anyways, I know there’s a few other references I’m missing but hope you find this interesting!

  3. 54:08 I just want to point out that you could teleport to Malmalam Thicket by selecting "Map Point" on the Regalia and clicking on the parking spot. It is useful because I think the fast travel list is cluttered and you can't organize it in any fashion.

  4. 33:59 HC bailley, I am pretty sure I saw the highlight for 'check' or 'pick up' on top of the metal grating on top of the structure by the doorway out of the little utility shack.

  5. Before getting into todays stats: I'm pretty certain that summons are a guaranteed break on any enemy, so if you fight Garuda multiple times, just pass the time until you get any of your summons, use it, and you are guaranteed to get drop for breaking her wings… At least in the level 45 version, as i never bothered to do the 120 version

    Todays stats:

Noctis jumping instead of interacting with stuff: 6
Prompto taking pictures of monster asses: 0

  6. Feel like I'm obligated to say this.
Ever think of trying FF14? It has an expansive free trial that lets you play everything in the base game as well as its first expansion Heavensward.

  7. 39:35 Supplication (also known as petitioning) is a form of prayer, wherein one party humbly or earnestly asks another party to provide something, either for the party who is doing the supplicating (e.g., "Please spare my life.") or on behalf of someone else. Basically the action of asking or begging for something earnestly or humbly.

  8. OH GOD NOCTIS HAS MET THE CAT-GIRLS. HE IS IN GREAT DANGER!

Never, ever trust cat-girls. They are always Chaotic Kawaii, and can deal high amounts of psychic damage as their racial ability. They also have a rage mechanic that triggers anytime they see something sufficiently un-cute, or if something insults their favorite anime/video game.

  9. I've always wondered why they picked this random person instead of an actual NPC from FFXIV. Would have been kinda neat to see Y'shtola or Yda or maybe a less-involved Scion here. I think they did a fantastic job otherwise though. Gotta love yet another game to grind tomestones on.
