Let's Play Final Fantasy XIV v1.23b: Gridania Storyline Part I (2023)

Hello Warriors of Light, today we’re going to start our journey through the MSQ of Final Fantasy XIV v.123b!

This was possible due to Lizzardizzle’s awesome work in making the MSQ in a playable state.

Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy some 1.x era!

I apologize about the audio the mic I’m using isn’t that great, hoping to remedy it tonight. If enough comments are made about it I will edit it some more and reupload.

  1. Man they weren't kidding about how good 1.0 graphics were. While the systems were pretty terrible the game's graphics have aged pretty well.

I'm interested in 1.0 story so I'll be following this.

  2. Honestly, I feel that the systems weren't so bad, the big issue was the servers' bad state of health; with all the lags, disconnections, and glitches, it made the game nigh-unplayable. But the game was based largely off of FFXI's systems, which to this day still get lots of love. Frankly, if they had just taken the time to fine-tune the entire thing the way the player-base did for FFXI, then they coulda probably kept it going instead of having to rebuild the whole thing from the ground up while merely borrowing most of the assets.
Ngl, I always did, and still do, wanna play this old version of the game, largely for the story, and partly to get that authentic experience with playing the game as it used to be. I wanted to see all the content they used to have before they had to revamp the entire thing. I would have loved to see all the game areas as they were, for myself.

  3. Hey Slerp, if you can your buddies can package this game into a downloadable program we can play with a virtual client like we do in FFXI, then for real I would even pay money to play it. If you guys can make it happen, that is. 😀

  4. this was really interesting to watch.
even though i love the game now it is sad to see how well animated not only the cutscenes were but also how your own character animated in them as well.
i know the head nods and fist bumps we have now were a necessary evil but man….

  5. the game's volume is a bit too low but other than that this is great!

I do love the animation I was a bit skeptical that it could be much better but the facial movement and body movement is much much better.

Ofc this would be impossible to do in current ffxiv but it's still nice to see jow charming the old game was!

I love older ff games in this style it makes me feel like im going on an actual adventure i hope there's a way for us to play the game like this someday
