When i log my alt to play i just cant stand the amount of crap i have to redo again that should be stoppable. i dont want to do the same crap i hated having to do first time around. let me just play my alts without having to grind all the same shit!!
FF14 has had a great story along with all these great ideas for YEARS, and now people are jumping on the bandwagon because of WoW downfall. FF14 didn’t have to change for no one because the Developers LISTEN and communicate with the players. Just google FF live letters to see for yourself. Over the years WoW said a few times that I remember “oh we did a poor job of communicating, and we will do better” and they just go back to what they always do. Honestly, ask yourself this one question… do you honestly think WoW will change anything and get better??? Nope, neither do I.
Im getting a bit tired of bellular saying how good the game is every day when he is barely even playing it. Like man, play the game so you can actually talk about other parts of the game.
This sounds like the thing with Anthem and their loot bug. People were complaining for a while about loot being bad and stingy and then something happened where loot was just exploding out of enemies and people were excited and started to play more. Then EA stepped in and "fixed" the bug (i.e. put it back to stingy) and then people stopped playing the game. It's just insane companies can't figure this out. Listen to the people actually playing your games and you might get more people to play. Who would have thought it worked that way?
WAIT WAIT WAIT…. i just thought of something. What if Blizzard thinks of subclasses as alts, and the broader class as a main? In other words, you main a Fury Warrior, but your alt is Arms?
FFXIV, armoury bonus. For every job under your highest leveled class they get a +100% xp boost up to level 69, 70+ it drops to 50%. On top of that you have pre-order bonus items, Menphinas earrings boost XP by 30% up to level 80, You can get the Brand new ring by doing novice network that boosts it by another 30% up to level 30. FFXIV wants you to level all your jobs and they'll add in things to make it easier. Heck you got the road to 70 buff on my data center if you start on Spriggan or Louisoix.
Having played ffxiv for about 450hours now, world of warcraft shadowlands leveling/overall experience feels like a unfinished early access game in comparison to ffxiv.
I played wow from week 2 vanilla all the way to shadowlands with a few breaks here and there
Move away to a new game dude jesus
Guys, please make up your mind.. you don't want to level alts on wow cause leveling again isn't content.. but leveling multiple roles on a single chatacter qualifies as content??
Something barely anyone notices/points out while at the same time underlining that WoW devs should "listen to the players" is that WoW is 17 years old. They are probably very well aware what players are saying, it's just that 1/10th says this, 2/10 says this and so on. Everyone has a different idea how to "save WoW".
I remember seeing Asmon's vid where he spun his idea how to save Torghast – add a new layer with hard content if you do well in basic content. Then Blizz added something quite along those lines and I saw Preach's vid where he dumped on it. True, one can blame it on the execution, but Preach was more or less against the idea. That's my point. Every member of WoW community (at least those with 10+ year tenure with the game) will have vastly different and often contrasting ideas how to make the game fun. Because they have a different idea of fun. And because WoW is too old. There is no more "exploring new world, mechanics, ideas" and more "change this old toy this way so I still have fun playing with it".
Don't get me wrong. For all good that in my opinion FF14 is doing for MMO as a genre, I don't believe their additive way of providing new content will last longer than WoW's 17 years. They will sooner or later fall into the same trap WoW did – "we expoited all the reasonable story threads in our previous 10 expansions… we got no other choice but to make some shit up". "We itereated on every possible job in every possible way, what now? Let's add some new out-of-the-blue mechanics to be the leading theme for this expansion and dump it entirely in the next". "Nobody is even doing the early game content theese days cause they are all 10 expansions ahead waiting for the 11th, so let's add a paid skip so that new people can get to a place where people are actually playing the game". I know it's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's true.
Which brings me back to my initial point. Blizz more or less are aware they got a dead game on their hands. Because let's be honest, they should not be stupid enough to ignore the voice of their customers. Problem is, their customers want too many and too contrasting things for them to listen to. And it also leads me to my message of the day – you guys as consumers should finally learn to know then to stop beating a dead horse. Let it rest in peace. Making so much drama about the dead horse not running as fast as it used to is silly at best and sad at worst. Move on. The sooner you do, the sooner Blizz will stop milking you for whatever they can milk a dead horse for and start working on a horse mk 2 which might actually be fun to ride again.
Consider: achievements give account-wide bonuses. Level a ranged class to 60? Cool, get 10% global exp bonus 60 and below, plus another 10% for other ranged, plus another another 20% for additional characters of that class or something. Complete a mythic+ raid tier? Cool, enjoy your mythic+ keys appearing 3% more often.
I'd argue, don't have it be anything like "do 3% more damage" since that makes doing that stuff an obligation, but generally speaking, doing grinds the second time should be easier, while challenges should not.
There must be like 10 “things FFXIV is doing doing better than WoW” style videos done through this clips channel at this point. Really goes to show how much WoW has failed to stay on top of the MMO genre.
FF14 has “Gates” for lack of a better term. Once you get one job to lv50 then all your other jobs up to level 50 get a flat 50% exp boost
If you’re 2 gates ahead i.e lv60, then it’s +100% to the first gate (lv50) then +50% to level 60
You can’t get more than a 100% bonus this way but it does stack with food, rested exp and items etc
While you don’t get the exp buff when doing new expansions, your compensated somewhat with large chunks of exp from the main story which can only be claimed once. This streamlines the game, makes it so trying to level without the buff using other methods is much less efficient and ensures that everyone makes it to the end of the story
From there, the horizontal content can be used to level alt jobs
Simply put, WoW is forcing players to spend more time playing their game, essentially farming players for their subscription time. And those that don't want to waste that time, still have to waste money boosting, and in order to get the things they want, they spend money for the wow token. It is extremely predatory in nature with not so subtle p2w features. They make it incredibly easy to spend money on the game to get things the players don't want to need, but the defense-mechanism of not wanting to waste time forces them to.
Meanwhile FFXIV hilariously enough make it pretty difficult to spend money on their game thanks to their jank website lol.
Leveling is only "too long" if the process is not enjoyable. If the game is truly good there isn't a thing as "long enough"
They need to keep the main (or the basic) story in the game, not in others medias, is very anoyed that you need read thousand of books to understand the base story
FFXIV doesn't have enough methods of leveling. It's pretty much just dungeon, deep dungeon, Bozja (I don't know how good leves are since I save them for crafting) till you're 80 and it feels like it takes forever. Beast tribes don't give very much XP till the ShB one and you only get it 3 quests per day, occasionally 6 when you rank up.
Leveling a class in ff14 is literal cancer from 50 to 70.
Low effort content. I would rather someone spend 20 minutes editing some gameplay footage together so I could watch that instead. I'm not here for the hollywood headshots.
I'm becoming burnt-out from playing WoW. I look at all I have to do on my main, plus raid and m+ and then also play on my single alt, all I have to do on that character. I've already dropped my other level 60 alt. Too much!
