I've played both, I started WoW around The Burning Crusade right before the Zul'Aman raid went live as a Blood Elf Mage on the server Sentinals at that time I've met many friendly people I truly enjoyed the game despite the many ups and down Shadowlands really pissed me off right after they said they won't be doing another borrowed power system then what happens? Fking Chains of Domination and right after they fking said they wouldn't do it, but at this time, I was already guildless due to pointless drama & I've just stopped talking to people save for every now and then I barely did mythics due to people wanting higher gs for 1-5 keys & the guild drama really killed raiding for me so I went to play FF14 until Dragonflight(I didn't like it) came out I really did want that xpac to be good anyways. My time in FF14 was great, and more than great, tbh I assumed everyone would be a toxic asshole but they weren't they were really friendly in WoW you usually get lrn2ply noob or some other BS or kicked from the group. Not in FF14 in very, very rare cases it happens, but most of the time the other players explain things to me and really did help me out, people even suggested trying out other things like the Hildabrand storyline or the crafting jobs & I did I never knew how you can be pretty much self-reliant on 1 chatacter it's wonderful, I'm not push into doing things I don't want to or have to or do I have a massive to do list like I do in WoW. In my short time playing FF14, I've enjoyed it more than I do with WoW or what WoW has become, Classic was fun for a time I do rarely go back & play when I feel like it & when I feel like it I'll return to FF14 to progress my alt through Stormblood but for now I'm give TWW a chance so far it's okay but that's early Blizzard has the ability to always piss people or let them down.

The community in 14 is a lot nicer up to a certain point. Coming over from wow it was refreshing until trying to pug Savage for the first time. The toxicity of players in PF there is almost equal to WoW, it's just more passive aggressive vs straight insults. It wasn't an amazing experience from my point of view. 14 players in general are defensive over their game to an obsessive level that even if they don't like something about it themselves they will argue it until they're blue in the face just because they can't hear an negative opinion. It's a weird place sometimes…. Still prefer 14 over modern WoW tho.
Great video my lil 🌱
All the content for casual players in FFXIV is what's kept me playing for so long. It's easy to chat with new people because, like you mentioned, stuff like greeting people in dungeons etc. is the norm. There are defo people who are OTT about how amazing FFXIV is and how nice its players are, but In general I've had a good experience. I haven't played much WoW, but one of my favourite online gaming moments is from it. When I was a kid my brother let me use his account, so I would run around exploring. I bumped into some RPers at Ironforge (had no clue what RP was at the time) and they chatted with me for a while and traded me stuff. It was one of my first online conversations with strangers, and thankfully it turned out to be a really positive one. I remember thinking how cool and nice they were, lol. Really good editing on this vid btw!
