  1. You're upset. That means the writers did their job right! ๐Ÿ‘

Welcome to the pain and suffering we all went through. It gets more intense from here on out XD

Oh boy….. Be strong friend, there is a lesson a very painful one non the less, i would quote it but i don't want you to look it up and spoil the story.

  3. Glad you experienced it like that. I also had the same feeling after I finished ARR. So many questions that needs to be answered by the time you get to Ishgard but you will make your mark there one way or another.

  4. 3:15 – Jup, pretty much my sentiment back then, too.
5:00 Call it what is is: emotional tormend ๐Ÿ™‚ And you're right: ARR sets the stage for all future expansions and stories. If you pay attention there, everything else falls into place.
The Brass Blades. They are technically the Police force in Uldah and Thanalan. And like in the police you have the corrupt and the virtuous. Aaaaand they follow orders. So if someone of the "higher ups", say a member of the Syndicate, liiiiike… I dunno, Teleji Adeleji, tells them "jo, theres a murder and you have to arrest all these people, and that Raubahn fellow is in legue with them because reasons" … well, they do as being told. Plus, the Syndicate pays them so there's that… A lot of players might ask why we dont just kill them and be done with it… but since we are the "good guys" killing the law inforcements is bad show – sadly -.-
Why is nobody worrying about Minfilia? Her character in ARR may be a little boring but keep in mind: she founded the Scions from the remains of two badly battered organisations after the Calamity, kept them all more of less out of harm way (meaning, politics) and actually has a very interesting backstory. … Its really sad she doesnt shine more in ARR…
ARR – 10/10, I can live with that ๐Ÿ™‚ Just means that HW will probably be a 20/10 ^.^
How does it feel when you leave Uldah when it is your staring zone… Well, since we are literally abandoned by Merlwyb and Kan-E, who quietly leave the room with their delegation… That was big: we saved them on countless occasions, their biggest triumphs were only possible because of us… and now that we are accused of murder (without seeing the body nor any real prove) and they leave us to rot. Thinking back, this makes me even more angry. At least Raubahn still had faith in us and didnt believe any of it…
When you play HW, please always talk to the NPCs near you, even if they are not real part of the journey. Dont know if you already do that, but they offer more indepth lore to whats happening – and this is especially important later in Stormblood ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. None of us have yet to emotionally recover from this, and it will only get harder. We are all wusses together.

WARNING. Before it's all done… You. Will. Cry.

  6. At the end you say you don't understand why people hate on ARR so much. Yeah, as someone who's been playing since 1.0 (now that was bad), I've always hated how the ffxiv reddit is full of people telling new players how awful ARR is, and "if you just push throught the first 200 hrs, the game becomes good". Great way to sell the game guys. Much of the "I wont ever give FF14 a try" arguments I hear from people is based on, "I hear you have to play for the equivelent of 4-5 rpgs back-to-back before FF14 becomes enjoyable, sorry, but sounds terrible, I'd rather play a good game."

My thought is, a lot of us who were there for 2.0 have probably played through ARR multiple times on alt characters to re-experience the story while waiting for the next expansion. I personaly have played ARR at least 6 times through now, and yeah, by time you're replaying for the 3rd time the story begins to get repetative. It also does not help if you play ARR again after HW or any of the expansions, as the writting, character development, camera work, voice acting all improves – ARR is certainly dated when comparing to the newer entries. But I think a lot of the veteran players who hate ARR with a passion forget that a new player doesn't have the same experiences as them. Someone playing ARR for the first time is not going to have that "god, this character is so much better developed in the next expansion", or "man, I miss my top end character who has all the abilities unlocked and can fly everywhere" feeling they do.

The one part that new players are at least benefiting from is the reduction of the 2.1-2.5 patch quests. The first half of these were largely filler and a real slog to get through, and where a number of my alt characters are in limbo. But even then, I think a lot of the ARR hate just writes off the entire quest line, and completely forget the filler largely ends at 2.2., and 2.3 onwards covers the arcs that set the scene for HW. In fact anyone who says, "just MSQ to HW" is ignoring how much of HW's story is set up in 2.3-2.5. Also about 20 of the filler quests were removed when Shadowbringers came out, so that early slog has been largely streamlined.

So yeah, ARR is dated and not the best FFXIV has to offer. I don't mind people telling new players it gets better from HW after development team find their footing, but wish people would stop shouting at anyone even remotely interested in the game, "ARR is the worst RPG experience ever! 0/10…. but just bare with it, cause HW is 10/10!" – if it was that bad, 2.0 would have died just like 1.0, and there would be no FFXIV today.

  7. the way the game is able to make you connect to it s characters is exactly the biggest thing where FFXIV (all the FF franchaise for that matter) excels, believe me, you re in for a treat ๐Ÿ™‚ ( and a lot of "upsetting" moments)

  8. Just wait. You WILL need those vacations to recover from Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers. And then, I ask: are you prepared to cry your eyes out? ๐Ÿ˜‚.

  9. 2.55 is one of those points I think all vets wait for sprouts to hit. Conversation about dryness or bad writing aside (of which I mostly disagree with), this is the point of the game that truly shines. It takes everything you expected, everything you thought you knew, and goes "well, actually…" Its the place you know where people that were iffy or unsure, finally sit up and take notice. 2.55 is incredibly written and really just opens the doors wide for everything to come, and I am so happy you are enjoying your experience so far. Welcome to Eorzea my friend!

  10. Now imagine how we felt waiting MONTHS for the expansion after this final patch. YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW WE SUFFERED!!! hahaha

Keep tissues on hand for Heavensward and especially in Shadowbringers.

  11. It's not a spoiler so I can confirm to you that Taledji is in fact dead!
And don't blame yourself for feeling so emotionally wracked, the narrative does a real good job of doing that to the players. XD
Looking forward to your journey through HW and watching your emotions get straight up massacred now.

  12. Don't worry, I think we have all dropped some tears a long the way.
If you barly dropped a tear now, I'm sure you will later and trust me.. let it go !
We've all been through out this, keep enjoying the game

  13. No one's (hopefully) gonna call you a wuss, because we were also in that same boat. You can soon watch the trailer, which I'd highly recommend as you start an expansion, and then enjoy Heavensward.
