How do you go about finding one if you’re not a content creator or have no friends irl to team up with?
I think it's important to differentiate between raid leading and static leading. Raid leading usually means leadership in the instance and involves helping to develop strats, looking at logs to solve problems, doing call outs, etc. Static leading has more to do with stuff outside the instance like recruiting efforts, scheduling, and the people-related issues that come up with organizing groups. One person can do both, but it doesn't have to be the same person or people. In fact, I think it is actually probably better in most cases that these roles are shared within the group.
I swear you are actually stalking me. These videos are coming in perfect times and I’m struggling with this question right now, like I have the capabilities of raid leading but thanks for the video as always!
I was very lucky in my search for a static I feel. My first static I joined on a whim (which also happened my first night ever attempting Savage) but later found the times and people to be rather mediocre. After leaving them, I had a very long gap of just PFing with a healer friend at the time before he found us a group to trial for, and I ended up staying while my friend continued his search. This static is the one I've stayed with since, though it's roster has changed significantly over Shadowbringers and currently, my co-healer and I are the only original members since its inception. I feel very at home though, and its members, whether new or old, are friends and buddy-buddy with each other.
I Chose The Impossible I Chose Pugging XD
life is just more important i guess. I cant afford to have 2 hours each day or even 4 days a week to raid. (Pissed mum noise)
So yeah… I am always on PF tho
I applied to some Ultimate prog statics. Got turned down because I'm new to MMOs and only had green parses for the current raid tier, even though I learned and cleared the whole tier in 3 months playing 2 days a week. Now I'm running barse parties so I can have a few purple parses in hopes that it will be enough to go through the TEA gates 🙁
Nice video btw, hearing you say it took you 2 years to find a consistent group is interesting and indeed relatable.
Literally me trying to find 2 subs for my static tonight for UWU 🙂
I started playing 14 2 months ago and I managed to clear almost all of the current raids. I tried to join a static recently, and they kicked me after the first raid we did together. The reason was because I don’t have enough experience on raiding. Now I’m not so sure if i should look for another one or just give up on raiding in the next expansion.
Hey Ilya, really enjoy your vids! I'm new to ffxiv but I come from doing a decent bit of raiding in wow. And I'd like to ask where I would find a static? In wow we have websites and application forms with trial periods etc. But so far I've been unable to find people in ff, I look in the party finder from time to time to see if there are any statics but haven't seen one yet.
The first static I joined had a lot of issues if people coming and going and being no shows and it started to have a big impact on the group’s leader, so it’s important to know when to step back. To help them not have to stress as much we made a 3 strikes and you get kicked rule of if not giving a good warning if you would absent (and also trying to find a sub yourself) to help relieve her of some stress.
the problem i have always had with statics are the "package deals". usually one is better than the other and you can't keep the good player if you kick the bad player. but i've more often than not been using PF pretty much all expansion and with the exception of a few fights, i find it a perfectly acceptable option for players like myself, who have limited and/or random times to play
