  1. My suggestion for starting off in FFXIV is try lancer. Lancer/Dragoon is one of the easiest classes to play for starting off if you don't want major responsibility. The class will assist you with doing your rotation by highlighting skill/spells that are next in the combo. You could also setup a controller to use which can clean up the appearance of your skill/spell bars. The main thing to watch out for when playing as a melee DPS is the real life de-buff called "Tunnel Vision". It is usually the main cause for the running joke for Lancer/Dragoons being called "Floor Tanks".

  2. how to not know that shit at lvl80 (now 90 is max level)?
    I WISH I KNEW
THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE DOING LATEGAME FIGHT ONLY PRESSING THE FIRST ATTACK AND USE AoE SKILLS ON ONE TARGET, EFECTIVLY CUTTING THEIR DPS DOWN TO 80% OF WHAT A NORMAL UNSKILLED PLEB LIKE MYSELF DOES
some people cant read, others cant think
AND YOU CANT TELL THEM HOW TO IMPROVE OR ELSE YOU RISK A STUPID REPORT FOR BEEING "TOXIC". because their egos are so fragile, wet oneply toiletpaper made from recycled material is titanum compared to that

  3. Welcome to FFXIV, avoid Limsa Lomsa, it's where the ERP players hang…. atleast, ignore general chat.
As for what to start as, be what ever sounds cool. You can change jobs more often then the fore mentioned ERPers change their under garments

  4. How do people reach such high content and not know things about their skills and such? The sad existence of the story skips you can buy on the cash shop. They let you instantly level a specific class past some expansions and get a free set of gear at that level purely so you can jump into later content instantly (it can be a pain running lvl 70 content leveling an alt job only for the rest of the team to literally not know the basics of their jobs because of level/story skips is P A I N)

  5. Don't feel overwhelmed by the hotbars you see in these videos; they are taken from max level jobs (which is currently 90). You are introduced to them slowly over the levels, with plenty of time to get used to each new one, so it's really not bad. At least, for the jobs that start at level 1, which you have no choice but to start as. Later in the game, you'll get access to jobs that start at 30, 50, 60, and 70 respectively, but only once you have something else at that level (and in the case of the level 30 ones, have completed the entire base game's main story and made it to the first expansion). And by then, you should (hopefully) be more comfortable with how the game works and still not have any problems (if you even want to play those jobs; it's completely optional to even unlock them, let alone play them).

  6. The reason there are a decent number of people at the level cap without knowing all their abilities is fairly simple: level skips. while most players do level up their first character to cap the old-fashioned way, they sell things in the cash shop (MogStation) to allow you to automatically skip your character to a pretty high level as a convenience for folks who want to get to raiding ASAP, and there are a decent number of transfers from other MMOs who assume all their knowledge from that other MMO transfers over and so don’t bother reading tooltips and practicing because “it’s just FFXIV’s version of this class I played in <other MMO>,” or FFXIV single-class veterans who want to try out a new class on their same character real quick and just don’t bother…and a small number of total noobs with more confidence than sense that just pay to “win” anyway.

  7. The reason players at level 80 and higher can play and not know how their classes work, happens from people buying skip tickets. Skip tickets are out of game items from Square's store that can push people to max level, pass the base game/DLC's, job classes etc. I heavily advise against it unless you know and played the class before. I did that for ninja to level 70 and for the life of me, I can't memorize the mudra combos without making a mistake. Also do not skip the story! No one likes skipping arcs in a grand epic.

  8. 2:35 to my understanding "Glamour" is the Transmog system of FFXIV, and lets you put the cosmetic appearance of any gear you've previously collected over what your actually wearing, while keeping your current equipment Statistics.

it was a major addition to World of warcraft when it was added, as it solved a major "Clown suit" issue some people had, and helped people in Endgame raids not all look the same.

  9. 4:05 the one with the four legs, grey body, and red eye, i beleive, is Omega Weapon, a Reocurring super-boss in the FF series(i THINK originating from FF5?), and tends to be a massive pain in the ASS.

4:10 Black Mages are likely the Highest DPS class… as long as they keep standing in a magical circle on the ground which greatly boost der DEEPS… you can see said circle drawn on that Black Mage's Innertube.

  10. I DID warn you in the warlock video when you remarked "Yeah, Jocat, you've proved you can do horror" that there was going to be something even more disturbing in his dps video.

  11. 10:20 happens more than you think. Problem with MMos you get a lot of people that have great gear but never really learn how to play the game and come up with the excuse, "I know what I'm doing, look at my super ultra-ultimate +100 sword." Which isn't really an indication of skill, but it's a stat game so it's hard to tell them anything if they don't want to learn as gear is a big part of the game. So if you played 5,000 hours not knowing your tank class has a "stop taking damage for 5 secs skill" and the healer is having a mental breakdown that you're not using that skill on a boss designed around it, it's not your fault, you played the game for 5000 hours and have all the gear you know what you're doing. Annoying but it happeneds a lot.

  12. INRE the party finder bit at the end of the DPS video, while I haven't seen anywhere he literally recorded it while waiting, the queue is sometimes (for deeps usually) long enough to be valid. Hence why the task video referenced their queue privilege.

(I've seen it say average wait 30+ min and be correct. If you're queuing as deeps, it's a good idea to be doing something else on the side while waiting. Or get friends / FC members to queue with you as tank or healer and share their queue privilege.)

  13. Final thought, fair warning, while Sage (aka LASERS!!!) is (in my opinion) the finest of all the healers right now, it's not available right away, you'll need to get something to level 70 first.

In fact, if you want to heal out the gate, the only option you have before level 30 is Conjurer (which becomes White Mage). You can't unlock Astrologian until you hit the first expansion, and you need to get Arcanist (a magic deeps class) to 30 in order to unlock Scholar.

  14. That's neither a cabbage or artichoke, that is a Bell and it's apart of the Fat Chocobo head.

Also if you are interested in playing Sage you need to get to lvl 70. If you want to be support and keep your distance I suggest you start as an Archer/Bard. They are a ranged DPS that can give a decent amount of buffs to the party.

  15. If you want a healer that moves less you want conjurer/white mage… but then you have to pay attention to where you are. Sage (the one that SHOOTS LASERS) on the other hand can be moving for a big chunk of their healing meaning you can move without having to worry about having to stop healing to run.
Problem is that Sage unlocks pretty late so you'll probably start as White Mage.
