  1. I usually prefer JP dub and I am a big fan of the voice actor for Elidibus/Themis but the english cast also do a great job and especially
    the english VA for Themis, even though he sounds much older than how Themis looks, It is delivered with so much emotion and depth, Big fan of him returning.

  2. Kudos to the writers for both showing the human side of the first paragon, as well introducing us to one of most dysfunctional family in FF. I can't imagine what it would be like to be invited to their house as a visitor, those conversations must be really awkward.

    29:31 It's so sad hearing those last words from both Athena and Eric. Even until the very end she treats him as nothing more than a tool. Eric's reply afterwards is just as painful.

    56:22 Respect to Lahabrea, his unapologetic drive to do what he does for the sake of the star, even if it means working with people he doesn't like (like Hegemone and Elidibus) is admirable. And even if over many, many years the WoL finally meets him again and is at odds with his and the Ascians' goals, neither side should ever waver.

    1:08:14 After having time to think about it, I think it was fine that the Heart of Sabik is left to Claudien, he's in Sharlayan after all. There's porbably a lot of dangerous things the forum is hiding that even the Scions don't know about. In most FFs the Ultima spell is one you get to learn near the end of the game so who knows? Maybe we'll see the heart get used again in a future expansion.

    1:09:41I honestly don't mind if they retroactively add voiced lines to some important points of previous raids quests, even if it takes a long time. Elidibus' sendoff here was perfect. Still not sure what to think about him seeing the light in the aetherial sea. Maybe it's just me, but I'm immediately reminded of the FFX ending with Tidus.

  3. I feel almost guilty for watching someone as nice as Jesse struggle to avoid collapsing into an ugly cry. Almost. As soon as the instrumental for flow started and he put on his Grinding Gear poker face and turned pale, I was eating good.

  4. I love all the connections with Ultima from Ivalice, one of my favourite mysteries that has become even more mysterious with some crazy Jenova connections. It might be one of those things that never gets a proper explanation as it's all in side content, but it's great all the same.

  5. omg I didn't even think about it but I think we most likely are gonna be getting a genova and it might not be the case but ever since the introduction of the high seraph I think its been a present thought with the ffxiv team like even ultima's true form gives major genova vibes like there's no way its design was an accident or coincidence and its quite suspicious that we've been getting increasingly frequent questline focusing around foreign entities whether they be from other fucked up shards or straight up things that have connections to space and it all started after end walkers main story line which COINCIDENTALLY is literally focused on extra-terrestrial stuff like we even meet full on aliens that aren't trying to immediately kill us if thats not a scream in the face idk what is

  6. Ever since Ivalice came out, Ultima has been this gigantic question mark of "oh god what the HECK is this thing that even HYDAELYN is spooked by and where the hell did it even come from?" and I was fully expecting the Eden series to touch into that, to explain Eden as being somehow connected to Ultima in some way, and maybe even have the plot of Endwalker having to do with whatever unsundered creature was broken down into Eden/Ultima/etc. being responsible for the Sound and the Final Days themselves. Obviously that did not come to pass, but I could not be happier that they brought Ultima back now and reminded everybody that, yeah, actually, we have literally zero idea what manner of creature it is, and we only know that it is utterly savage and horrifying and now we are also aware that it exists outside the framework of even what the Ancients knew of the world and reality.

    Though I would like more of a focus on the otherwordliness and just general "this does not fit in any of our models for how the universe and magic works, it could have come from the heavens, it could have come from space, it could have come from a different dimension, we just don't know" of it rather than the story going "oh yes, Ultima is a member of the Ultimans, an alien race from Planet X!"

  7. I won't lie. That light that Themis outro'd to hit me the hardest of all. Because the way I see it… that's him unspooling… being washed clean by the Aetherial Sea at long last, and even… well who knows.

    Maybe some day, Lil JC will get to meet some kid who wants to know what it is to be a Hero, or why you'd go to such vast and difficult lengths for your friends.

    Maybe then it'll be his turn to say "Hello…. my new old friend."

  8. I actually find it pretty funny how they handled Lahabrea not acknowledging knowing us in ARR. They didn’t do an emotional memory wipe like with Emet-Selch. Lahabrea remembers everything we did in Pandaemonium, he knows exactly who we are, but he just doesn’t give a shit.

  9. I just love the call back to Lahabrea’s line in ARR when she casts Ultima. To remind;

    “And from the deepest pits of the seven hells, to the pinnacle of the heavens, the world shall tremble! UNLEASH ULTIMA!!”

  10. And thus Lahabrea doomed himself to be unraveled over the millennia, not only by the auracite's whispers but by Hephaistos' insane obsessions on top of it. A brilliant man, reduced to a warped, twisted caricature of himself by the time he faces the Warrior of Light in a faraway future, our present, with naught but his delusions and Zodiark's demands for freedom and sacrifices to drive him forward.
